Official Trailer for Mike White's Film 'Brad's Status' Starring Ben Stiller

    Brad's Status Trailer

“Sometimes I worry that people think of me as a failure…” Amazon + Annapurna have debuted the official trailer for Mike White’s new indie comedy Brad’s Status, both written and directed by White. Ben Stiller stars as a father who takes his son, played by Austin Abrams, on a roadtrip around the East Coast to visit colleges. Along the way he reconnects with four old college friends who now seem to be living a much more glamorous, wealthy life compared to his own, and he starts to question his own choices. The cast includes Mike White, Jenna Fischer, Luke Wilson, Jemaine Clement, Michael Sheen, and Shazi Raja. I’m a big fan of Mike White, he’s a talented original voice, and this looks amusing and also like the kind of film that will make me question my own life choices *gulp*. Looking forward to catching this film. Take a look. ›››

  • First Trailer for Survival Revenge Film 'Iceman' About a Neolithic Man

First Trailer for Survival Revenge Film 'Iceman' About a Neolithic Man

    Iceman Trailer

“They found a man, but not his story…” A trailer has debuted for a film titled Iceman, which is premiering at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland kicking off this week. This film could be described as an ancient Neolithic man version of The Revenant, about one man who angrily seeks revenge but must first survive the brutal Ötztals Alps. Jürgen Vogel stars as Kelab, with the full cast including Susanne Wuest, André Hennicke, Violetta Schurawlow, Sabin Tambrea, Martin Schneider, and an appearance by Franco Nero. The film uses an early version of the Rhaetic language. This actually looks damn good, with some impressive hair + beards and an intense story set entirely in the wilderness. I’m intrigued enough to watch. ›››

  • First Teaser Trailer for Creepy Indie Thriller Film 'My Friend Dahmer'

First Teaser Trailer for Creepy Indie Thriller Film 'My Friend Dahmer'

    My Friend Dahmer Trailer

“I’m just like anybody else…” FilmRise has debuted an official trailer for a creepy new indie thriller titled My Friend Dahmer, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. The film is based on an acclaimed graphic novel and tells the story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who murdered 17 men and boys in the Midwest United States between 1978 and 1991 before being captured by police. Before he became that killer, though, he was a shy, alcoholic teen who never quite fit in. This is the true, haunting “story before that story” of Dahmer in high school. Ross Lynch plays Dahmer, and the cast includes Anne Heche, Alex Wolff, Dallas Roberts, Vincent Kartheiser, Miles Robbins. This is just a teaser, but but damn does it have some unsettling moments in it, which is the whole point of the film. Lynch’s performance looks superb. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Sundance Doc 'Dolores' About a Legendary Activist

Official Trailer for Sundance Doc 'Dolores' About a Legendary Activist

    Dolores Movie Trailer

“The FBI knew how dangerous Dolores was.” PBS Distribution has unveiled the first official trailer for a documentary titled Dolores, profiling the life and achievements of American activist Dolores Huerta. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and has gone on to play at numerous other festivals including Hot Docs and AFI Docs. Her career as an activist began alongside Cesar Chavez and, at age 87, Huerta still continues to advocate for the common good. Described as an “energetic, sweeping story” about the “iconic labor leader and feminist pioneer”, the film explains her influence, impact – and why you probably have never heard her name. This definitely does look like a very energetic, inspiring, and hopeful documentary about one remarkable, driven woman and her innate ability to encourage people to speak up. ›››

Nicholas Hoult Stars as Salinger in First Trailer for 'Rebel in the Rye'

    Rebel in the Rye Trailer

“Are you willing to devote your life to telling stories?” IFC Films has debuted an official trailer for the film Rebel in the Rye, an indie drama which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The film stars Nicholas Hoult as famed author J.D. Salinger, telling the story of his early years, his time fighting in WWII, and his pursuit of a love interest. It also shows how the success of his novel, Catcher in the Rye, turned him into a recluse, staying out of the public for the rest of his life after it was published in 1951. The cast includes Zoey Deutch as Oona O’Neill, Kevin Spacey, Lucy Boynton, Sarah Paulson, Victor Garber, Hope Davis, Amy Rutberg, James Urbaniak, Celeste Arias, and Eric Bogosian. This received dismal reviews at Sundance, and not so surprisingly the trailer doesn’t look that great either. ›››

    Lightningface Short Film

“I thought I knew who I was. But I knew nothing… And then it happened.” Let’s kick off this week with a short film we’ve been waiting to watch for over a year. After playing at film festivals all around the world, Vimeo has finally premiered the short film Lightningface online in full, from director Brian Petsos. The short film stars Oscar Isaac as a man named Basil Stitt who goes through a transformative experience after being struck by lightning one day. We originally posted a trailer for this short more than a year ago, and now that it has played at fests exclusively, it’s available online. This is a very strange, intriguing short that goes to some trippy places at the end. It’s great to see Oscar Isaac in this, but I’m not sure what to make of it. You? ›››

    In the Radiant City Trailer

“There’s no such thing as evil, son. There’s just people doing good and bad to each other.” The Orchard has debuted a trailer for indie drama In the Radiant City, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. The film is the feature directorial debut of Kentucky native Rachel Lambert, and it’s set in Kentucky, about a man who returns home only to find his family is still haunted by the stigma of a murder his brother committed years ago. The cast includes Michael Abbott Jr in the lead role, along with Marin Ireland, Madisen Beaty, Celia Weston, Jon Michael Hill, Deirdre O’Connell, and Paul Sparks. This film is produced by fellow filmmaker Jeff Nichols, and it also has one of the best posters this year (as seen below). ›››

Official Trailer for Eliza Hittman's Drama 'Beach Rats' Set in Brooklyn

    Beach Rats Trailer

“I don’t really know what I like…” Neon has unveiled the official full-length trailer for indie drama Beach Rats, the second feature from filmmaker Eliza Hittman, following up her debut It Felt Like Love. This originally premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won the Best Director award. Newcomer Harris Dickinson plays Frankie, an aimless youth on the outer edges of Brooklyn, struggling to escape his bleak home life. He spends his summer balancing time between his delinquent group of friends, a potential new girlfriend, and older men he meets online. The cast includes Nicole Flyus, Frank Hakaj, Kate Hodge and Neal Huff. Despite some good reviews, this looks like pretentious art house drivel to me. ›››

    Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

“So much has happened since I last saw you! I lost my hammer…” Indeed, so much has happened! Let’s find out! Disney + Marvel have revealed the new full-length trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the next sequel in the Thor series, at Comic-Con today during their Hall H presentation. It looks like hiring Taika Waititi to direct this is one of the best decisions Marvel has ever made, as this looks seriously badass and entertaining in 100 different ways. Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, with a seriously kick ass cast: Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, plus all of the others from Asgard before including Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and Jaimie Alexander. I’m insanely excited for this, it looks so frickin’ good, even all the sci-fi stuff looks like it works perfectly. I’m so there opening night. Awesome New Comic-Con Trailer for DC's Epic 'Justice League' Movie

    Justice League Comic-Con

“They said the age of heroes would never come again.” “It has to.” Warner Bros has revealed a new Comic-Con trailer for DC’s Justice League, and it looks totally awesome, packed with action and plenty more. Justice League is the continuation of the Batman v Superman series in the DC Extended Universe, bringing together five super-powered beings: Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The extensive cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Amber Heard, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. As we all know, Joss Whedon has taken over finishing the movie since Zack Snyder had to step down for family tragedy reasons. As usual, there’s some epicly cool shots in this worth admiring on their own. The line from Alfred about wind-up penguins is great, too. They’ve got my attention. Dive in. ›››
