  • Nintendo President Says More Switch Games Are Scheduled For Current Period

    They just haven’t been revealed yet.

    For some time now, there have been concerns about what Nintendo has planned for the Switch in the immediate future. After Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition arrives at the end of this month, there’s Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics in June, followed by some DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokémon Sword and Shield.

    There’s no need to worry, according to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. At the company’s recent investor’s Q&A, he mentioned how the Japanese video game giant had other games planned for this period but said it had become “increasingly difficult” to follow the current schedule due to current restrictions:

  • Ninjala’s Release Gets Delayed Until June Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak, GungHo President Apologises

    Update (Sat 9th May, 2020 06:00 BST): Following the news of Ninjala’s delay, GungHo Online Entertainment’s president and CEO Kazuki Morishita has now released a statement apologising to fans:

    Ninjala is near completion, but we are significantly limited in how quickly we can work to test and finalize the game when we cannot be in the same room. Although we are working hard to launch Ninjala and release it to our fans, the health and safety of our employees is paramount. We apologize to our Ninjala fans who were eagerly anticipating its launch, and we ask for your understanding as we work to bring you the best game we can in this additional month.

  • Random: Kirby Appears In New Fortnite Party Royale Trailer, Gets Blurred Out In PlayStation And Xbox Clips

    Epic recently premiered ‘Party Royale‘ in its free-to-play shooter Fortnite. In this “new experimental and evolving” space, there are no weapons or mats – instead it’s all about hanging out with your friends and having fun. There are even “back-to-back-to-back” live sets being played by three famous DJs.

    They aren’t the only famous faces that make an appearance, either. In the promotional trailer for this event, the pink puffball Kirby can be seen at the very beginning. Yep, believe it or not, but the iconic Nintendo character appears in a video on an in-game monitor at the one-second mark. Take a look below:

  • Geoff Keighley Announces Summer Game Fest, Four Months Of News And Events

    An “industry-wide celebration of video games”.

    Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley has announced the Summer Game Fest. It is a new “industry-wide celebration of video games” that runs from May until August. According to Geoff, it’ll share news, in-game events, and playable content from the entire video game industry. There’ll also be panels and interviews from leading developers and publishers, and it’s all online.

    Phase one of the festival will feature announcements from 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Digital Extremes, EA, PlayStation, Private Division, Riot Games, Square Enix, Steam, Warner Bros. and team Xbox.

  • EVO 2020 Has Been Officially Cancelled, Will Be Replaced By An Online Event

    “More information coming soon”.

    In March, we heard how this year’s EVO Championship series in North America would be “moving forward” with its plans. Now, like every other gaming event at this point, it’s been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

    The announcement was made on the official EVO Twitter account. As previously promised, all arena tickets and hotel room reservations will be refunded. To make up for this, an online event will take its place this summer. More information about this will be revealed soon.

    To promote the release of Trials of Mana on the Nintendo Switch this week, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is hosting a limited-time spirit event that adds three new and appropriately-themed spirits to the game.

    The event lasts a total of five days and is now officially live. Defeating each of the spirits in battle will earn you more SP than usual.   • Review: Billion Road – Like Pokémon Meets Monopoly, But Not As Cool As It Sounds

    Does it deserve to Monopolise your time?

    In a world where Switch owners already have access to both a serviceable version of Monopoly and Pokémon Sword and Shield, do we really need a game that combines the two? For most people, the answer is “probably not”. But that’s got nothing to do with Billion Road’s concept, and everything to do with its execution.

    Just like the beloved/loathed Hasbro capitalist fantasy game mentioned above, Billion Road has you taking it in turns with up to three friends or AI bots to trot around a board-shaped approximation of a real-world location (here a cartoony take on Japan), buying up properties, racing to goal squares, swearing at the people you love, and cursing the God of Luck. Pretty much in that order.
