Report: Boba Fett Returns In The Mandalorian Season 2

The Mandalorian, Disney Plus’ critically acclaimed Star Wars space-western series by Jon Favreau, continues to bolster its season 2 cast. In March, it was reported that actress Rosario Dawson would be taking on the role of Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice from Star Wars: The Clone Wars for the second season The Mandalorian. Now The Hollywood Reporter has a scoop that not only is the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett joining the season 2 stable, but he will be played by Temuera Morrison, the actor who portrayed Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

Many fans theorized that the closing moments of The Mandalorian‘s season 1 episode, “The Gunslinger” hinted at Boba Fett appearing in a future episode, but that cameo or appearance did not occur during the first season. The connection is obvious, as the famed bounty hunter is known for his Mandalorian armor, but by this time in the story, he was presumed dead, swallowed by a sarlacc in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the JediThe Mandalorian takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, meaning Boba Fett might be more resilient than we thought.

The first season of The Mandalorian began in November, starring such actors as Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Taika Waititi, Gina Carano, and Amy Sedaris. The second season is currently scheduled for release later this year, but it remains to be seen if that will be possible with the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As is often the case when a console manufacturer touts upcoming a third-party game for its new system, whether the title is exclusive or not can be confusing. In the case of Vampire The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from Paradox Interactive (developed by Hardsuit Labs), the game – which was showcased in yesterday’s Inside Xbox presentation for Xbox Series X – is also coming to the PlayStation 5.

Today Paradox released another version of yesterday’s trailer, only this time the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC logos have been added to the end. This isn’t a huge surprise since the game was already confirmed for the current platforms (PS4, Xbox One, and PC).

  • Evo 2020 Canceled Due To COVID-19, Organizers Planning Digital Event

Evo 2020 Canceled Due To COVID-19, Organizers Planning Digital Event

The organizers behind the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) have announced that its 2020 event is canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Evo 2020 was originally scheduled to take place July 31 to August 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Instead of a physical event, the Evo team is creating an online event, which will occur this summer.

You can see the full statement from the Evo team below.

    A message from the Evo team… pic.twitter.com/ANXUXDiNGK

    — EVO (@EVO) May 1, 2020

Since the postponement of Game Developers Conference in March, nearly every game industry event has been either canceled or postponed, including E3 and Gamescom. While GDC and Gamescom subsequently announced digital alternatives to their canceled shows, the uncertainty of when it will be safe to hold large in-person gatherings looms. With digital events being the only option for now, The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley today announced Summer Game Fest to fill the hole left by the bevy of expo cancellations and to help bridge the gap between publishers and fans.

According to the Evo organizers, we will learn more about the team’s planned online event soon. Hopefully that means we’ll still get a chance to see the best fighting game competitors duke it out later this summer, even if that presents additional technical challenges.

  • WWE 2K21 Is Not Happening

    WWE 2K21 Is Not Happening

During an investor call on yesterday, the WWE confirmed that this year’s installment of 2K Games’ WWE 2K franchise is not happening.

Taking a year off might be a good thing; WWE 2K20 (pictured above) had various technical issues that left many fans disappointed. This also came after 2K Games split with longtime developer Yuke’s, handing the series entirely over to Visual Concepts. No one factor alone is likely to be the sole reason for pressing pause, but the extra time should give 2K Games the opportunity to assess its priorities with the franchise.

However, the absence of the WWE 2K name doesn’t necessarily mean wrestling fans won’t be getting any new games at all. A tweet from the WWE 2K account promises more details and “exciting news” next week.

To get a wrestling fix in the meantime, you can watch a few current and former Game Informer editors play WWF No Mercy on this episode of Replay.

Netflix hasn’t created a Tiger King game … yet. The next best thing might be this goofy on court battle in NBA 2K20. YouTuber 2kToro spent a lot of time using 2K’s characters creator to craft digital versions of Joe Exotic, Carol Baskin, Jeff Lowe, and Doc Antle, who were recently popularized in the Netflix documentary Tiger King. The NBA season might have been cut short, but if we get more content like this, we might not miss it.

UPDATE: Microsoft Unveils Its Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X

Update: After multiple leaks and teases, an unlisted video on the Xbox YouTube channel has officially unveiled the Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X. A new video gives us a clear look at the special edition console. Despite the video appearing on the official Xbox YouTube channel, the Xbox.com homepage remains “hacked,” delivering the same tease originally reported below. While it’s currently unlisted, the video has been making the rounds on social media, garnering more than 15,000 views and 253 comments as of this writing.

The special edition Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X releases in June.

    Original Story (4/6/2010 @ 4:26 p.m. CT)

Xbox appears to be teasing something related to the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. Upon visiting Xbox.com, you’re greeted with a fake “hacked” screen that quickly flashes images and lines of code across a distorted view of the Xbox homepage. After a few seconds of this, the noise goes away and you get a clear message that says, “Return in 4 days.” However, if you pause at the right time, you can see the silhouette of an Xbox One console and controller.

Prior to this, the Xbox Twitter account was also “hacked” and posted the below tweet, showing a sequence referring to Arasaka, a massive corporation in the Cyberpunk universe. The official Cyberpunk Twitter account also retweeted the Xbox tweet.

Yesterday, a listing on Amazon’s Canadian website advertised a Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller. While the listing has since been removed, you can see an image of that below.

Interestingly enough, you may remember the big re-reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 occurred at E3 2018. Instead of “hacking” the Xbox.com homepage, however, Cyberpunk 2077 “hacked” the end of the Microsoft E3 2018 press conference. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally scheduled to release today, but was delayed to September

  • Dead Island 2 Might Not Be Dead After Job Listing Surfaces

Dead Island 2 Might Not Be Dead After Job Listing Surfaces

The oft-delayed, always-mysterious Dead Island 2 might still be coming if a new job listing at developer Dambuster Studios is any indication. The position is for an art director to work on a recreation of Los Angeles and, “create the sun soaked backdrop to a full scale zombie apocalypse set across the iconic Californian city for the next installment in the world renowned Dead Island franchise.” The listing also references creating a title for, “current and future platforms,” potentially hinting at a cross-gen release for the game.

It’s been a long and bumpy road for Dead Island 2, the follow up to Techland’s co-op zombie-killing titles. After developing 2011’s Dead Island and its 2013 follow up, Dead Island: Riptide, the Polish studio moved on from the franchise to start a new post-apocalyptic zombie series, Dying Light. During Dead Island 2’s reveal at E3 2014, it was announced that Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager Development was put in charge of the numbered sequel. However, Deep Silver and Yager had a falling out, and Deep Silver transitioned development to Team Sonic Racing and Crackdown 3 studio Sumo Digital in 2016. Then, last year, it was announced that Dambuster Studios, which took over development on Homefront: The Revolution when Crytek suffered financial woes and its relationship with Deep Silver went downhill, would be taking over Dead Island 2 as well; an interesting twist, seeing as how Yager and Crytek shared Deep Silver’s E3 2014 meeting area to show off Dead Island 2 and Homefront: The Revolution respectively. Now, Dambuster Studios will have (hopefully) finished both of those titles.

Things have been quiet for Dead Island 2 ever since Dambuster took over, but with this new job listing, it’s possible the team is building toward a re-reveal sometime soon. Dead Island 2 was originally set to release in 2015, but has been continually delayed thanks to its turbulent development.

  • You Can Get 100 Overwatch League Tokens If You Sign Up For The League’s Email List

You Can Get 100 Overwatch League Tokens If You Sign Up For The League’s Email List

Since their introduction more than two years ago, Overwatch League Tokens have rarely been given out without asking you to pay real-world money. While you’ve been able to earn a pittance for watching Overwatch League matches, you would need to watch 100 maps of play just to earn $5 worth of tokens. However, Blizzard has announced an easy way to earn that many tokens without spending money or very much time.

Everyone who has a valid copy of Overwatch, an account in good standing, and signs up for the Overwatch League email list by April 29 will earn 100 Tokens, which would normally cost $5. If you play on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you must first link your PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account to your Battle.net account. Then, when you fill out your form, you must use the same email address associated with your Battle.net account. Even if you already are signed up for the Overwatch League email list, confirming your information will still earn you the 100 tokens.

With 100 Overwatch League Tokens, you can purchase one team-specific skin for a hero of your choosing, or get halfway to affording one of the premium, exclusive items, like the new Thunder Doomfist skin or the legendary turntable Lucio emote, each of which cost 200 Overwatch League Tokens.

The promotion ends on April 29, but tokens may take until May 6 to appear in your account. To sign up for the mailing list, head here.
