Thrilling Final Trailer for 'Operation Finale' Movie Starring Oscar Isaac

    Operation Finale Trailer

“For the first time in our history we will judge our executioner. For the sake of the world, do not fail…” MGM Studios has debuted the second & final trailer for Chris Weitz’s new film, titled Operation Finale, about Mossad agents in Argentina tracking down Adolf Eichmann, the infamous architect of the Holocaust. Based on a true story, Oscar Isaac stars as Peter Malkin who heads to Argentina with a team of secret agents in hopes of finding and capturing Eichmann. The first trailer for this was fantastic, and this one is even better. The full ensemble cast for this thriller includes Ben Kingsley, Lior Raz, Melanie Laurent, Nick Kroll, Joe Alwyn, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Aronov, Ohad Knoller, Greg Hill, Torben Liebrecht, Mike Hernandez, Greta Scacchi, and Pêpê Rapazote. This has quickly become one of my most anticipated films to see this fall, I’m really looking forward to it. Seems so very intense and gripping. ›››

  • New Trailer for Post-Apocalyptic Horror 'Hostile' from Mathieu Turi

New Trailer for Post-Apocalyptic Horror 'Hostile' from Mathieu Turi

    Hostile Trailer

“Every mistake you make, you make it for a reason.” 4Digital Media has released a new trailer for a post-apocalyptic survival horror film titled Hostile, from French filmmaker Mathieu Turi making his directorial debut. We posted a slick teaser trailer for this last fall, and finally have another new trailer to promote its upcoming US release in September this year. Not to be confused with the Christian Bale western Hostiles, this film is about a woman, played by Brittany Ashworth, who is a survivor of an apocalypse and ends up crashing her truck while driving around. She wakes up at night, and must battle strange creatures that roam the wastelands in the dark. The cast includes Grégory Fitoussi, Javier Botet, Jay Benedict, and David Gasman. This still reminds me a bit of I Am Legend, but this trailer makes it seem somewhat more unique. ›››

  • Fabulous Trailer for Japanese Anime 'The Night is Short, Walk On Girl'

Fabulous Trailer for Japanese Anime 'The Night is Short, Walk On Girl'

The Night is Short, Walk On Girl Trailer

“You can’t trust people you meet at night.” GKids has released an official US trailer for a wacky, super fun Japanese anime titled The Night is Short, Walk On Girl, which premiered at film festivals last year and is getting a US release this August. The film is the latest from Japanese filmmaker Masaaki Yuasa, who also made the musical Lu Over the Wall opening this year as well. The Night is Short, Walk On Girl is set over the course of one weird, “insanely long” night in Kyoto, following a teen girl only known as “The Girl with Black Hair” (or “Otome”) as she experiences the nightlife. She’s also pursued by a boy named Senpai, who comes up with awkward ways to bump into her. The Japanese voice cast features Gen Hoshino, Kana Hanazawa, Hiroshi Kamiya, Ryuji Akiyama, Kazuya Nakai, Yuko Kaida, and Hiroyuki Yoshino. I’m not the biggest fan of this animation style, but this just looks like so much amusing, happy fun. Enjoy! ›››

  • New Full-Length Trailer for Campy Music Fest Comedy 'The Festival'

New Full-Length Trailer for Campy Music Fest Comedy 'The Festival'

    The Festival Trailer

“Embracing the stink is what festivals are all about.” Entertainment Film UK has debuted the full-length official UK trailer for a British comedy titled The Festival, made by the creators of the hit TV show “The Inbetweeners” (and the movies as well). The Festival is a comedy “about friendship, growing up, and going mad in a field.” After Nick’s girlfriend dumps him, his best mate Shane has the perfect antidote to his break-up blues: three days at an epic music festival. Of course, all kinds of weird, ridiculous things happen. Joe Thomas stars as Nick, and the cast includes Nick Frost, Hammed Animashaun, Claudia O’Doherty, Jemaine Clement, Hannah Tointon, Lizzy Connolly, and Noel Fielding. This looks even worse the more they show from it, so utterly stupid in every way. I’m just tired of these kind of super dumb comedies. ›››

John McEnroe: In the Realm of Perfection Trailer

“John McEnroe always finds a way to win.” Oscilloscope Labs has debuted the official, full-length trailer for a documentary titled John McEnroe: In the Realm of Perfection, one of the best documentaries this year so far, hands down. This first premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, and also stopped by Cinéma du Réel and Art of the Real. The film is made up entirely of footage recorded by a French filmmaker named Gil De Kermadec, in the 1980s when iconic tennis player John McEnroe stopped by to play at the French Open. With narration by Mathieu Amalric. It’s an incredible, exhilarating, fascinating combination of tennis and cinema. I wrote in my positive review: “This film is such a wonderful discovery and it’s entirely entrancing, not only for cinema lovers, but for anyone who enjoys sports and the art of physical performance.” I really love this doc and have been recommending it to as many friends as I can. Exploring cinema through tennis. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Ricky D'Ambrose's Mystery 'Notes on an Appearance'

Official Trailer for Ricky D'Ambrose's Mystery 'Notes on an Appearance'

    Notes on an Appearance Trailer

“There’s much to be cleared up, for the record, and a good deal of intellectual rehabilitation was in store.” Grasshopper Film has released an official trailer for a film titled Notes on an Appearance, a mysterious experimental thriller from filmmaker Ricky D’Ambrose (University People) about a missing person. This first premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and also played at New Directors/New Films, and the Sarasota, Montclair, and Melbourne Film Festival. The highly intellectual film has been described as, “like a quirkier Bresson, without the Catholic ennui.” Notes on an Appearance stars Bingham Bryan, Keith Poulson, Tallie Medel, and Madeleine James. This seems like something only for the most die-hard cinephiles out there, not for mainstream audiences. But worth a look anyway if you’re curious about it. ›››

  • Sam Rockwell & Ben Schwartz in Crime Comedy 'Blue Iguana' Trailer

Sam Rockwell & Ben Schwartz in Crime Comedy 'Blue Iguana' Trailer

    Blue Iguana Trailer

“Steal it back, collect the reward.” Screen Media Films has debuted the official trailer for a crime comedy titled Blue Iguana, the latest film from British director Hadi Hajaig (Puritan, Cleanskin). Blue Iguana stars Ben Schwartz and Sam Rockwell as small-time crooks on parole and working in a New York diner. Their dead-end lives are soon turned upside down when an English lawyer walks into the diner with an offer they can’t refuse: a “simple” job to steal a rare jewel in London. Hijinks and chaos ensue, of course. The cast includes Phoebe Fox, Simon Callow, Amanda Donohoe, Peter Ferdinando, and Anton Saunders. This looks like a really bad, wannabe Snatch that will probably be a waste of time to sit through. Watch out. ›››

Blood-Stained Red Band Trailer for Horror Film 'What Keeps You Alive'

    What Keeps You Alive Trailer

“I’m done playing around… I know these woods…” IFC Films has released the official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled What Keeps You Alive, which premiered at both the SXSW and Fantasia festivals this year. The film is about a female married couple who head to a cabin in the mountains near a lake to celebrate their one-year anniversary. From the moment they arrive, something changes in Jules’ normally loving wife, as Jackie (if that even is her real name?) begins to reveal a previously unknown dark side. Ooh. Hannah Emily Anderson and Brittany Allen star, along with Martha MacIsaac and Joey Klein. “Defying expectations at every turn,” the film is described as “a nerve-twisting cat and mouse thriller built around a shattering tale of heartbreak and betrayal.” This looks totally nuts and thrilling as all hell. Enjoy. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Rockin' New Joan Jett Documentary 'Bad Reputation'

Official Trailer for Rockin' New Joan Jett Documentary 'Bad Reputation'

    Bad Reputation Trailer

“I’m lucky I’m still here… We had to fight on!” Magnolia Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for a documentary titled Bad Reputation, a profile of rock star Joan Jett of The Runaways (and much more). This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and also played at other festivals including Montclair, San Francisco, Sydney, Melbourne, and a few others this year. Made by an extreme sports junkie and music video director who has moved into feature documentaries, the film is a bit more than just a look back at Joan Jett’s life. The film “gives you a wild ride as Jett and her close friends tell you how it really was in the burgeoning ’70s punk scene, and their interviews are laced with amazing archival footage.” Hell yes. This looks badass, no doubt, and I’m curious to see how much Jett dishes on everything and everyone in the punk scene back then. This is a must see rock doc for anyone who loves rock ‘n roll and/or Joan Jett. Check it out. ›››

  • Full US Trailer for UK Action Movie 'Final Score' Starring Dave Bautista

Full US Trailer for UK Action Movie 'Final Score' Starring Dave Bautista

    Final Score Trailer

“The clock is ticking… Tick, tock.” Saban Films + Sky Cinema have released the full-length, official trailer for an action movie titled Final Score, from British director Scott Mann (Down Amongst the Dead Men, The Tournament, and Heist). After deadly terrorists abduct his niece at a soccer match, an ex-soldier with lethal fighting skills wages a one-man war to save her and prevent mass destruction. Dave Bautista stars in this, along with Pierce Brosnan, Ray Stevenson, Martyn Ford, Ralph Brown, Alexandra Dinu, and Lucy Gaskell. This reminds me a lot of the 90s action movie Sudden Death with JCVD, also set in a stadium, and the filmmakers have admitted that was a major inspiration. This looks kind of awesome! No thanks to Bautista kicking ass, even though it seems cheesy but still fun. Some scores will never be settled. ›››
