Final Trailer for Pixar's 'Cars 3' Pushes Lightning McQueen to the Limit

    Cars 3 Final Trailer

“One new turn. One more dream. One last chance.” Disney-Pixar has released one more full-length trailer for Pixar’s sequel Cars 3, making this the fifth official trailer for this animated movie. They’re really hoping it will be a hit? We know the story is about Lightning McQueen dealing with being beaten by younger, more high tech racers. He tries to make a comeback and pushes himself to the limit – even more than the last two times. Owen Wilson returns as McQueen, with a fun cast including Armie Hammer as Jackson Storm, Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Katherine Helmond, and Paul Dooley. As I keep saying, this might turn out better than expected, and hopefully it’s not being ignored because it’s another Cars movie. Maybe it’s actually good? I’m very curious to see this and find out. No more trailers please, let’s go watch the movie. ›››

  • Full-Length Trailer for HBO's 'Tour de Pharmacy' with Andy Samberg

Full-Length Trailer for HBO's 'Tour de Pharmacy' with Andy Samberg

    Tour de Pharmacy Trailer

“This is what happens when we train super hard on the bicycle.” HBO has premiered the full-length trailer for the mockumentary comedy Tour de Pharmacy, starring Andy Samberg as a cyclist competing in bicycle races during the 1980s. The film is a hilarious satire making fun of the cycling world and the fact that almost all of the cyclists in the Tour de France were on drugs. The first teaser for this was funny enough to completely sell me, but this one is even better. I can’t wait to see this! The full cast includes John Cena, Freddie Highmore, Daveed Diggs, Orlando Bloom, and a whole bunch of others, like Jeff Goldblum and Mike Tyson. Plus there is an appearance by the one-and-only king of doping, Lance Armstrong, which is a bit crazy. Everything about this seems so absurd, but that’s why it looks so damn good. Enjoy it! ›››

Review: Shults' Horror 'It Comes At Night' Deals in Existential Anxiety

    It Comes At Night Review

Up-and-coming filmmaker Trey Edward Shults follows his acclaimed debut film Krisha with It Comes At Night, a psychological horror thriller centering on a teenage boy (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) as he faces mounting terrors — both external and internal — in the aftermath of an unnamed apocalypse. Surviving in a secluded, fortress-like home with his two parents, Paul (played by Joel Edgerton) and Sarah (played by Carmen Ejogo, also in Alien: Covenant), 17-year-old Travis is overwhelmed by fear, grief, and uncertainty after losing his grandfather to a mysterious plague responsible for the collapse of human civilization. ›››

  • First Dull Trailer for Indie Comedy 'Landline' from Gillian Robespierre

First Dull Trailer for Indie Comedy 'Landline' from Gillian Robespierre

    Landline Trailer

“Just broke my brain.” Amazon Studios has released the first official trailer for the indie comedy Landline, which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Landline is the follow-up feature from director Gillian Robespierre, who broke out big with the indie comedy Obvious Child (which you really should see if you haven’t yet). Robespierre reteams with Obvious Child star Jenny Slate, who co-stars in this along with Abby Quinn, playing sisters who freak out when they suspect their father may be having an affair. Also starring John Turturro, Edie Falco, Finn Wittrock, Jay Duplass, Amy Carlson, and Ali Ahn. This played at Sundance as one of the most anticipated of the fest, but I only heard bad things about it from everyone, unfortunately. Might not be worth your time. This trailer doesn’t help at all, it looks terrible. ›››

    Chasing Coral Doc Trailer

“Our oceans are dramatically changing and we are losing coral reefs on a global scale.” So sad. Netflix has debuted the official trailer for the extraordinary documentary Chasing Coral, in celebration of World Oceans Day today. This amazing doc is the follow-up to Chasing Ice, also profiling the devastating effects of climate change. This time filmmaker Jeff Orlowski dives underwater to show use firsthand what’s happening to the coral reefs on this planet. He spent three years with “divers, underwater photographers, and experts to reveal the majesty of our oceans, and the rapidly changing reality we’re facing.” I saw this at its premiere at Sundance and totally fell for it (read my glowing review). It made me cry with tears of frustration, and happiness, because it’s a beautifully-made film – the best climate doc I’ve seen in years (I’ve seen them all). ›››

  • Intense Official Trailer for Camping Trip Horror Film 'Killing Ground'

Intense Official Trailer for Camping Trip Horror Film 'Killing Ground'

    Killing Ground Trailer

“This isn’t right…” IFC Midnight has revealed the official trailer for an intense horror thriller titled Killing Ground, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This indie thriller from Australia is about a couple who go camping to get out of the city, only to discover two creepy psychopaths tormenting the area. The film has “unexpected twists and turns” and is said to feature “nerve-shredding suspense and gut-punching realism”. Starring Stephen Hunter, Harriet Dyer, Aaron Pederson, Ian Meadows, and Aaron Glenane. This definitely looks harrowing and, as one of the quotes says, relentless in its intensity. As one of the other quotes states, this will probably make me never want to go camping again. Take a look. ›››

  • Final UK Trailer for Japanese Animated Film 'The Boy and The Beast'

Final UK Trailer for Japanese Animated Film 'The Boy and The Beast'

The Boy and The Beast Trailer

“Kyuta means to learn everything from you.” Studiocanal in the UK has debuted a new trailer for the final UK release of the Japanese animated film The Boy and The Beast. Most people have probably already seen this, as it premiered in Japan in 2015, playing at the Toronto Film Festival and Fantastic Fest that year; it played at more festivals in 2016 and opened in US cinemas last year. It’s finally getting released in the UK this July, hence the new trailer some two years later. The latest film from Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children), The Boy and The Beast is about an orphaned boy named Kyuta from Shibuya who stumbles upon a fantastic world of beasts, where he’s taken in by a gruff warrior beast looking for an apprentice. This actually looks really good, and I’m looking forward to catching up with it even a few years late. Watch below. ›››

  • Official US Trailer for Weird Chinese Time-Travel Thriller Film 'Reset'

Official US Trailer for Weird Chinese Time-Travel Thriller Film 'Reset'

    Reset Trailer

“You are not necessary for this experiment.” Well Go USA has debuted an official US trailer for a Chinese action-sci-fi-thriller titled Reset, also going by the name Fatal Countdown: Reset. Executive produced by Jackie Chan, and directed by a filmmaker called “Chang”, Reset is about a desperate scientist mother who finishes her experimental time travel machine in order to go back in time and save her son. Starring Yang Mi, Wallace Huo, and King Shih-Chieh. While this doesn’t seem like the most inspired time travel plot, I am curious about the cultural differences and unique twists in this film. I’m interested to see what happens once she goes back in time, and what exactly she does to save her son and get rid of the criminals. Have fun. ›››
