Full US Trailer for CIA Action Thriller 'Unlocked' with Noomi Rapace

    Unlocked Trailer

“What’s your status?” “In danger, someone is hunting me.” Lionsgate has unveiled a brand new official US trailer for the CIA action thriller titled Unlocked, from veteran English director Michael Apted (the same filmmaker behind the “Up” documentary series). We featured the original UK trailer for this earlier in the year. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace stars in this as a CIA interrogator who is lured into a ruse that puts London at risk of a big biological attack. Orlando Bloom also co-stars as an MI5 agent she works with to help figure out what’s going on. The cast includes Michael Douglas, Toni Collette, Akshay Kumar, and John Malkovich. I like how mysterious and tricky the plot seems, I’m very intrigued to find out what’s up. ›››

  • One Final Trailer for 'The Hitman's Bodyguard' with Jackson & Reynolds

One Final Trailer for 'The Hitman's Bodyguard' with Jackson & Reynolds

    The Hitman's Bodyguard Trailer

“How have you stayed alive this long?!” Lionsgate has revealed one more short official US trailer for the summer action comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard, about the world’s best bodyguard assigned to protect a notorious hitman who has been killing his clients all along. We’ve already seen plenty of trailers for this absurd comedy, but why not one more to top it off. Starring Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard and Samuel L. Jackson as the notorious hit man named Darius Kincaid. Also featuring Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung, Joaquim de Almeida, and Sam Hazeldine. This movie might be good, just because of the dynamic between Jackson and Reynolds, but this new trailer doesn’t have much to offer aside from a few jokes. All the other trailers before were much better, but I’m still looking forward to seeing this. Have fun. ›››

  • First Trailer for Albert Hughes' New Film 'Alpha' Set During the Ice Age

First Trailer for Albert Hughes' New Film 'Alpha' Set During the Ice Age

    Alpha Trailer

“An enemy will become an ally.” Sony Pictures has unveiled a trailer for an epic new action thriller titled Alpha, formerly known as The Solutrean (which is a very weird title so it makes sense they changed it). This is the latest feature film from Albert Hughes, who last directed The Book of Eli in 2010, and it’s set during the last Ice Age – 20,000 years ago (kind of like Emmerich’s 10,000 BC). This epic adventure follows the story of Zeta, played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, a young man injured on a bison hunt left for dead. He befriends a lone wolf and together they figure out how to survive in this harsh environment. So basically it’s The Revenant meets 10,000 BC. The full cast includes Natassia Malthe, Leonor Varela, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Mercedes de la Zerda, and Jens Hultén. I really, really adore wolves, so I’m already into this. But this trailer is a bit awkward, not sure if it’s going to be really good or not, hard to tell. ›››

Full-Length Trailer for 'Professor Marston & the Wonder Women' Film

Professor Marston & the Wonder Women Trailer

“I want to study her.” “She’ll break your heart.” Annapurna Pictures has debuted a new full-length trailer (just in time for Comic-Con) for the film called Professor M for short, or Professor Marston & the Wonder Women. The film is about the origin of the DC superhero Wonder Woman, and the man and two women responsible for the character. She first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in October of 1941, then on the cover in 1942. Luke Evans plays Dr. William Marston, who was in a polyamorous relationship with his wife, Elizabeth, and a former student of his, Olive Byrne. The film focuses on how Marston dealt with the controversy surrounding Wonder Woman’s creation. Rebecca Hall stars as Elizabeth Marston, and Bella Heathcote as Olive. We finally get some footage in this trailer and it looks damn good, I am all in for this. ›››

  • First Trailer for 'The Disaster Artist' Starring James Franco as Wiseau

First Trailer for 'The Disaster Artist' Starring James Franco as Wiseau

    The Disaster Artist Trailer

“Oh, hi Mark!” A24 has unveiled the first trailer for the film The Disaster Artist, a fictional account of the making of the “best worst movie ever made” – The Room, as directed by Tommy Wiseau. The film stars James Franco, who also directs, as Tommy Wiseau, the awkward mastermind behind this disaster of a movie. This first trailer focuses entirely on one scene and Wiseau’s attempts to perform the line properly. The impressive ensemble includes Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Zoey Deutch, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, Bryan Cranston, Kristen Bell, Eliza Coupe, Josh Hutcherson, Sharon Stone, Adam Scott, Jason Mantzoukas, Kate Upton, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Ari Graynor, with an appearance by Judd Apatow. Whew, what a cast. I’ve got a good feeling this is going to be something special, perhaps as good as Burton’s Ed Wood (also about the making of a “worst film”). This first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival. ›››

  • Why Sony & Marvel's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' is the Perfect Reboot

Why Sony & Marvel's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' is the Perfect Reboot

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man finally swung home. Back in February of 2015, I wrote about why Spider-Man swinging back to Marvel Studios would be a good thing for the famed webslinger. Now, two years later, we have Spider-Man: Homecoming, the sixth Spider-Man film that actually feels like the first. The film, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Michael Keaton as The Vulture, is exhilarating, extremely well-made and most excitingly of all, refreshing. It shows how you properly reboot a character like Spider-Man, cementing Kevin Fiege and Marvel Studios as creative powerhouses who truly care about these characters. Let’s take a look at why Homecoming was the perfect Spidey reboot – and what’s in store for him after this. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Taylor Sheridan's 'Wind River' with Jeremy Renner

Second Trailer for Taylor Sheridan's 'Wind River' with Jeremy Renner

    Wind River Trailer

“This isn’t the land of backup, Jane, this is the land of ‘you’re on your own.’” The Weinstein Company has debuted a second trailer for the indie thriller Wind River, the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (of Sicario and Hell or High Water previously). This film is a “snow-noir” thriller about a murder mystery set in the snowy mountains of Wyoming, mostly around an Indian Reservation where the locals clash with the government authorities. Jeremy Renner stars, with Elizabeth Olsen as a FBI agent sent to investigate. The cast includes Jon Bernthal, Martin Sensmeier, Julia Jones, Kelsey Asbille, Graham Greene, and Gil Birmingham. This excellent film has been playing at film festivals all over the world, from Sundance to Cannes to Sydney to Seattle (here’s my review). I saw it for a second time at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and it’s still as good as it was the first time around. Add this to your watch list. ›››

  • Keith Stanfield in Trailer for Wrongful Conviction Film 'Crown Heights'

Keith Stanfield in Trailer for Wrongful Conviction Film 'Crown Heights'

    Crown Heights Trailer

“The whole neighborhood know you grabbed the wrong guy…” Amazon + IFC have debuted the official trailer for the indie drama Crown Heights, telling the story of a horrific wrongful conviction in New York in the 1980s. The immensely talented Lakeith Stanfield plays Colin Warner, a boy from Brooklyn who is taken into custody after a teenager is shot in the street. The police pressure a kid to testify as a witness and before he can do anything, Colin is thrown in prison with a life sentence. His friend dedicates his life to learning how to become an attorney in order to one day, eventually, free time. And it took over two decades. The film received a huge standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival, where it also went on to win the Audience Award. Featuring Nnamdi Asomugha, Nestor Carbonell, Natalie Paul, Bill Camp, Amari Cheatom. I highly recommend seeing this film, even if it makes you upset, it’s worth it for this true story. ›››

  • First Trailer for 'Leatherface' – A Prequel to 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

First Trailer for 'Leatherface' – A Prequel to 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

    Leatherface Trailer

“Witness the beginning of your end.” Lionsgate Premiere has debuted the first official red band trailer for the horror prequel Leatherface, telling the story of the upbringing of the man who would eventually become known as “Leatherface”. This is the long-awaited official prequel to Tobe Hooper’s original horror classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre from 1974. In this film, Jessica Madsen plays one of four young inmates from a mental hospital – the other three played by Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, and James Bloor. They kidnap a nurse, played by Vanessa Grasse, and take her on a “road trip from hell” while being pursued by a vengeful sheriff. The full cast also includes Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, and Julian Kostov. This looks pretty crazy, violent as all hell, bloody as all hell, hopefully what fans have been waiting for. Fire it up below. ›››

  • Natalie Portman & Lily-Rose Depp in New US Trailer for 'Planetarium'

Natalie Portman & Lily-Rose Depp in New US Trailer for 'Planetarium'

    Planetarium Trailer

“Things are so different since you came into my life.” Vision Films has unveiled a new official US trailer for the release of the French film Planetarium, which premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals last fall. Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp star as sisters in Paris in the 1930s who have the mysterious supernatural ability to connect with ghosts. The two of them start to put on performances in the city and make films, but end up in some other trouble. The full cast includes Emmanuel Salinger, Amira Casar, Pierre Salvadori, and Louis Garrel. I’m not so sure about this, as I never heard anyone raving about it, there doesn’t seem to be much good buzz. It looks intriguing, but also kind of all over the place. Take a look. ›››
