First International Trailer for Cult Sci-Fi 'How to Talk to Girls at Parties'

How to Talk to Girls at Parties

“Do more ‘punk’ to me.” An international trailer for John Cameron Mitchell’s cinematic adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties has arrived online. This weird, totally wacky cult sci-fi film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this summer to mixed reviews (I wasn’t a big fan of it). How to Talk to Girls at Parties stars Alex Sharp (of Tony-winning “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” Broadway fame) as Enn, a boy from the dreary London suburb of Croydon. Set in the late 70s, it’s a punk rock-infused, horny-adventure about a group of punk kids who discover a secret convent of aliens visiting planet Earth. The cast includes Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, Matt Lucas, and Tom Brooke. It’s really hard to describe this film, but thankfully this trailer helps set things up and I guess we need to just accept that the alien aspect of this isn’t a spoiler and will be front and center. Get ready for this. ›››

  • Official Trailer for 'McLaren' Doc About Racing Legend Bruce McLaren

Official Trailer for 'McLaren' Doc About Racing Legend Bruce McLaren

    McLaren Documentary Trailer

“They were Kiwis taking on the world.” FilmBuff has revealed the trailer for a racing documentary titled McLaren, telling the story of Bruce McLaren, the New Zealander who started the McLaren Motor Racing team. You may recognize the name, especially if you love cars, as Bruce McLaren is the father & founder of McLaren Automotive, which manufactures some of the fastest cars on the planet. McLaren died at age 32 in 1970 when his car crashed while racing in England. Despite this tragic early death, he left quite a legacy, and achieved a great amount of success. “A man who showed the world that a man of humble beginnings could take on the elite of motor racing and win.” There have been some excellent racing movies recently (Senna and Rush come to mind) and this looks like it’s another that will appeal to all audiences, not just racing fans. ›››

Watch: Metal Detector Finds Something Big in Animated Short 'Martin'

    Martin Short Film

Always inspiring to watch an entertaining short film made by one person as a “labour of love.” This short film premiered a few months ago, but we just came across it recently and felt it was worth sharing. Martin is a short animated film designed & directed by Sholto Crow of “Crowmotion”. It tells the story of a young scavenger using a metal detector to hunt for objects on the beach in his small coastal town. One day he finds something big and, well, you just have to watch below to see what he discovers. I admire the animation style in this, it’s quite unique, and the way this ends should make you laugh and leave you with a smile. Have fun. ›››

  • New UK Trailer for George Clooney's 'Suburbicon' Starring Matt Damon

New UK Trailer for George Clooney's 'Suburbicon' Starring Matt Damon

    Suburbicon Trailer

“Right now your path looks pretty bleak.” Entertainment One in the UK has debuted an official UK trailer for Suburbicon, a new dark comedy written and directed by George Clooney. This film is premiering at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals in just a few weeks, so expect to hear lots of buzz. Set in 1959 in a “peaceful, idyllic suburban community” that is rattled by a home invasion, a death starts to reveal the town’s “dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence”. Starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, Megan Ferguson, Jack Conley, and Oscar Isaac. This looks so damn good, I’m already sold and already ready to just watch and laugh and enjoy it. This is a good trailer but it spoils the amusing reveal at the end with Damon riding away, oh well, no worries. “Welcome to Suburbicon! A town of wonder and excitement.” ›››

Review: 'Hitman's Bodyguard' is an Entertaining Mess of Buddy Action

    The Hitman's Bodyguard Review

There is as much bad as there is good in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, the latest in the recent slew of buddy action-comedies that have been barreling down the pike. Thank you for that, Shane Black. While that appreciation is genuine, there is a certain lull this particular sub-genre has quickly slid into, and there are definitely prerequisites an entry into this sub-genre appear to have to meet to satisfy some audiences. The Hitman’s Bodyguard has no problem meeting all those prerequisites, but, while the buddies at play here (Samuel L. Jackson as the hitman and Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard) seem to be having a blast with their back-and-forth verbal spars, the overall cheapness and familiarity of the film leaves plenty of room for improvement. At the very least, rest assured that Jackson drops a plethora of “motherfuckers”. ›››

  • If You Want: Tyler Perry's 'Boo 2! A Madea Halloween' Official Trailer

If You Want: Tyler Perry's 'Boo 2! A Madea Halloween' Official Trailer

    Boo 2! A Madea Halloween

“People got dead up there for real!” Oh boy, here we go again… Lionsgate has revealed the trailer for the newest Tyler Perry joint, another Madea comedy (sequel) titled Boo 2! A Madea Halloween. This is, obviously enough, a sequel to the goofy Halloween comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween release just last year. Tyler Perry not only returns to write and direct, but also star again as Madea (and Joe and Brian). The cast includes Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Chandra Currelley, Yousef Erakat, Diamond White, Lexy Panterra, and Andre Hall. The plot involves Madea, Bam & Hattie going to a haunted campground where they find monsters, goblins, and the boogeyman. As much as I have absolutely no interest in these movies, I have to give them props on the amusing poster design. Other than that, if you want to watch then go ahead. ›››

Trailer for Indie Comedy 'Literally, Right Before Aaron' with Justin Long

    Literally, Right Before Aaron Trailer

“He’s actually a really cool guy.” Screen Media Films has unveiled the first official trailer for an enjoyable indie comedy titled Literally, Right Before Aaron, telling the story of a heartbroken man invited to the wedding of his most recent ex-girlfriend. Justin Long stars in this fairly typical story about a guy dealing with a tough breakup and accepting the reality of letting go, while embracing the comedy in romance. The ensemble cast includes Cobie Smulders as his ex, as well as Ryan Hansen, John Cho, Kristen Schaal, Dana Delany, Peter Gallagher, Lea Thompson, and Luis Guzmán. This premiered at the Tribeca and Nantucket Film Festivals and seems like a painfully funny, awkwardly charming little comedy. Take a look. ›››

Josh Hartnett in Official Trailer for '6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain'

6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain Trailer

“What do you want from me?!” Momentum Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for a survival movie called 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, telling the faith-based story of a former hockey player and adrenaline junkie who gets stranded in the mountains. He must “battle his own personal demons” in order to survive. Josh Hartnett stars as as Eric LeMarque, who ends up lost while snowboarding in the High Sierras when a massive winter storm hits. Also starring Mira Sorvino, Sarah Dumont, Kale Culley, and Jason Cottle. Despite this being billed as “one of the most amazing tales of survival” it looks pretty much like every other tale of snowy survival. Right down to the wolves. And that song makes my eyes roll big time. ›››

'Greatest Movie Promo Ever' + 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' TV Spot

    Kingsman: The Golden Circle

“This will go down in history as the single most important movie promo of all-time.” 20th Century Fox is going eclipse-crazy with a new promo for Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the action-packed sequel about the British spy organization. The wild idea is that they, wink wink, came up with the concept for the eclipse and are doing it to “promote” the “Golden Circle” movie. They’ve even made a funny video to joke about this promo. Taron Egerton returns as the superspy known as Eggsy, along with Colin Firth as Harry Hart, plus Mark Strong as Merlin; and a full cast featuring Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Vinnie Jones, as well as Hanna Alström, and Sophie Cookson. There’s also a brand new TV spot below worth checking out if you’re excited. Have fun. ›››

Official Trailer for Ai Weiwei's New Film 'Human Flow' About Humanity

    Human Flow Trailer

“When There Is Nowhere to Go, Nowhere is Home.” Amazon Studios and Participant Media have released an official trailer for Human Flow, a new film directed by iconic Chinese artist/filmmaker Ai Weiwei. This will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival first before hitting theaters in October. This eye-opening, breathtaking, heart-wrenching documentary looks at the humanitarian crisis of our time. “Over 65 million people around the world have been forced from their homes to escape famine, climate change and war in the greatest human displacement since World War II.” Human Flow is made up of remarkable footage showing this mass migration and how people move around this planet. This looks incredible, I’m very excited to see the footage and experience it as presented by Ai Weiwei. I’m sure it’s going to be an emotional experience. ›››
