Official Trailer for Woody Allen's 'Wonder Wheel' Starring Kate Winslet

    Wonder Wheel Trailer

“Everything’s coming apart!” Amazon Studios has debuted the first official trailer for Woody Allen’s latest film, titled Wonder Wheel, indeed set around Coney Island in the 1950s and the famous “Wonder Wheel” Ferris wheel. The story in the film is told by a lifeguard who dreams of being a playwright and is another ensemble piece about various people around Coney Island. The various characters include Ginny (played by Kate Winslet), an emotionally volatile former actress now working as a waitress in a clam house; Humpty (played by Jim Belushi), Ginny’s “rough-hewn” carousel operator husband; Mickey (played by Justin Timberlake), a handsome young beach lifeguard; and Carolina (played by Juno Temple), Humpty’s estranged daughter hiding out in her father’s apartment. The cast also includes Max Casella and Geneva Carr. This looks quirky and dramatic, as usual from Woody Allen. Take a ride on the Wonder Wheel below. ›››

  • First Trailer for Netflix's Horror 'The Babysitter' Starring Judah Lewis

First Trailer for Netflix's Horror 'The Babysitter' Starring Judah Lewis

    The Babysitter Trailer

“This Friday the 13th – brush your teeth, put on your PJs, and run like hell.” Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for a new horror comedy titled The Babysitter, from director McG (who has resigned from Hollywood and moved over to Netflix, thankfully). The movie is about a young boy who has the hots for his babysitter. When she brings her friends over to his house for a night of fun, he discovers they’re actually part of a satanic cult. Then it twists into a fun survival horror, where he must fight back and figure out how to make it through the night. Starring Judah Lewis as the kid, with Samara Weaving, Bella Thorne, Leslie Bibb, Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell, Emily Alyn Lind, and Andrew Bachelor. This actually doesn’t look so bad, it’s bloody and violent and seemingly quite funny, who would’ve thought. Take a look. ›››

Another Adventure with the Lovable Bear in Full 'Paddington 2' Trailer

    Paddington 2 Trailer

“Are you quite sure you’re ready for the work-place, Paddington?” Studiocanal UK has unveiled the new full-length trailer for the live-action Paddington bear sequel, titled simply Paddington 2. In this movie, Paddington the bear, now happily settled with the Brown family, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present (a book) for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen. The film’s very British cast includes Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Peter Capaldi, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, and Hugh Bonneville, with Ben Whishaw returning as the voice of Paddington, and Imelda Staunton as the voice of Aunt Lucy. I much, much prefer this movie to the other British hybrid-CGI movie Peter Rabbit, which looks terrible. This, on the other hand, looks very adorable and totally fun. ›››

  • New Trailer for 'Intent to Destroy' Doc About the Armenian Genocide

New Trailer for 'Intent to Destroy' Doc About the Armenian Genocide

    Intent to Destroy Doc Trailer

“It’s an experience I wouldn’t wish even on my worst enemies…” Abramorama has premiered the official trailer for a documentary titled Intent to Destroy, an examination of the Armenian Genocide and the history of denial by the Turkish government. This seems like one of the most definitive docs examining this historically tragic event, telling not only the history behind it and how it happened, but the ways various governments attempted to cover up and downplay the depressing truth of it all. The doc even examines how this “laid the groundwork for the genocides that followed.” Filmmaker Joe Berlinger also visits the set of Terry George’s The Promise, a feature film starring Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale set during the Armenian Genocide, discussing how hard it is to make a film about this. This looks powerful, and sad, but important. ›››

  • US Trailer for Acclaimed Italian Film 'A Ciambra' Produced by Scorsese

US Trailer for Acclaimed Italian Film 'A Ciambra' Produced by Scorsese

    A Ciambra Trailer

“You’re almost a man Pio.” IFC + Sundance Selects has debuted the official US trailer for A Ciambra, a film that played to great reviews in the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The story follows a 14-year-old boy named Pio growing up in a Romani community in Southern Italy. Martin Scorsese loved the film so much, he joined as an executive producer and is presenting it in the US. The trailer starts out with a nice Scorsese quote about how the world in the film is so fully realized he felt like he was “living alongside its characters.” Starring Pio Amato as Pio, plus Koudous Seihon & Damiano Amato. If you haven’t already heard about this film, now is the time, and you’ll probably hear more about this as it gets closer to the release. It won’t open in the US until early 2018, but catch the trailer below for your first look. ›››

  • Rutger Hauer in First Full Trailer for Weird Sci-Fi Film 'The Broken Key'

Rutger Hauer in First Full Trailer for Weird Sci-Fi Film 'The Broken Key'

    The Broken Key Trailer

“Is man ready to re-constitute it?” What the heck is this? A full trailer has debuted for a film titled The Broken Key, some sort of weird sci-fi mashup involving historical artifacts and modern technology and all kinds of wacky things. It’s set in the near future, at a time when paper has become a rare item, “a luxury possession”, and printing is now a crime. The main character is a British scholar of ancient Italian origins, who gets caught up in a series of murders taking him “on the path traced, so many centuries before, by Dante Alighieri and by the painter Hieronymus Bosch.” This stars Rutger Hauer, Michael Madsen, Christopher Lambert, Geraldine Chaplin, Franco Nero, William Baldwin, Maria de Medeiros, Kabir Bedi, and Marc Fiorini. This really looks way too weird for my tastes, another film straight from the 90s destined to find its way into VHS bargain bins. How these films are still getting made is beyond me. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Japan's Live-Action Horror Adaptation 'Tokyo Ghoul'

Official Trailer for Japan's Live-Action Horror Adaptation 'Tokyo Ghoul'

    Tokyo Ghoul Trailer

“Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain.” A new US trailer has arrived online for the Japanese live-action adaptation of the manga series Tokyo Ghoul, which already opened in theaters in Japan back in July. The story is about a Tokyo college student who is attacked by a ghoul, a superpowered human who feeds on human flesh. He then discovers there’s an entire race of ghouls and becomes a fugitive on the run, the “one and only existence who knows the two worlds.” Starring Yû Aoi, Masataka Kubota, Shun’ya Shiraishi, Nozomi Sasaki, Fumika Shimizu, Yô Ôizumi, and others. One of the quotes in this trailer claims the film is the “best live-action anime adaptation to date.” Not sure if that’s true but it’s worth a look. ›››

  • First Official Trailer for Violent WWI Zombie Horror Thriller 'Trench 11'

First Official Trailer for Violent WWI Zombie Horror Thriller 'Trench 11'

    Trench 11 Trailer

“The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front… is what lies beneath it.” A trailer has debuted online for a WWI zombie horror thriller film titled Trench 11. This indie horror has been playing at various genre film festivals the last few months, including Fantasy Filmfest in Germany and Toronto After Dark, but still doesn’t have any US distribution set yet. Trench 11 is about a special biological weapon the Germans developed that turns its victims into deranged killers. The plot follows a group of Allied soldiers stuck deep under ground trying to figure out and stop the spread of this dangerous, deadly disease/weapon. The film stars Rossif Sutherland, Karine Vanasse, Shaun Benson, Charlie Carrick, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig, Robert Stadlober, and Luke Humphrey. This looks dark, and gnarly, and very violent. Dig in. ›››

  • New Trailer for 30th Anniv. of Schwarzenegger Action Classic 'Predator'

New Trailer for 30th Anniv. of Schwarzenegger Action Classic 'Predator'

    Predator 30th Anniversary Trailer

“It came for the thrill of the hunt. It picked the wrong man to hunt.” While we wait for Shane Black’s new The Predator, set to hit theaters in 2018, we can all revisit the original. 20th Century Fox and Park Circus have released a new trailer for the 30th anniversary of John McTiernan’s Predator, returning to theaters (in the UK) this November. The action classic was first released in 1987 and actually opened #1 at the box office in the middle of June, earning a total of $59.7 million during its US theatrical run. Predator starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his early iconic roles, Carl Weathers, Elpidia Carrillo, Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, Sonny Landham, Richard Chaves, and, yes, even Shane Black. I wish this was a 4K restored re-release, but I don’t think it is. Still, it’s still awesome to see this film returning to theaters again. ›››

  • Fantastic Fest Review: Benson and Moorhead's Brilliant 'The Endless'

Fantastic Fest Review: Benson and Moorhead's Brilliant 'The Endless'

    The Endless Review

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead are a filmmaking duo that have quietly made some of the best genre films the indie world has seen in recent memory. Their first film, Resolution, switched up the game when it came to stories about storytelling, and Spring, for all its interesting & intelligent monster movie elements, is a heartfelt and beautiful tale of love. Their latest, The Endless, goes back to a storytelling well the team dipped into with their first film, but it plays on such an elaborately greater level that it becomes a beast completely unto itself. The Endless is a horror/sci-fi film like nothing the cinematic world has seen thus far and only serves to prove Benson & Moorhead as some of the strongest voices in the world of indie cinema. ›››
