First Trailer for Comedy 'Entanglement' Starring Thomas Middleditch

    Entanglement Trailer

“Every choice we make creates thousands of universes, spreading throughout time and space…” Dark Star Pictures has released the official trailer for an indie “alternative” romantic comedy titled Entanglement, from filmmaker Jason James. The film first premiered at the Seattle Film Festival and stars up-and-coming awkward actor Thomas Middleditch and the talented Jess Weixler (from Teeth). The story follows Middleditch as Ben, a man who accidentally falls in love with a girl who was very nearly, almost his sister while recovering from a suicide attempt. Then things get weird. The full cast includes Diana Bang, Randal Edwards, Marilyn Norry, Eric Keenleyside, and Nicole LaPlaca. This looks like one of those ideally quintessential indie films with all the right romantic touches and existential questions, and I want to see it. ›››

Official Trailer for 'Half Magic' – Heather Graham's Directorial Debut

    Half Magic Trailer

“Why are we sitting around talking about how sad our lives are?” Momentum Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Half Magic, the feature directorial debut of actress Heather Graham, who also stars in the film in the lead role as “Honey”. Half Magic is a story all about female empowerment in relationships, the work place, and in sex. Graham herself stars as woman working in Hollywood, based on her own experiences. The ensemble cast also features Angela Kinsey, Stephanie Beatriz, Jason Lewis, Thomas Lennon, and Chris D’Elia. This also features music by Moby, which is pretty cool. This looks quirky, spunky, and amusing, I’m certainly curious about it. Might be worth a watch. ›››

Another New UK Trailer for Aardman's Stop-Motion Movie 'Early Man'

    Early Man UK Trailer

“In the beginning, the world was a scary place. Except for one peaceful valley…” StudioCanal, Aardman and The British Film Institute have released another full trailer for Aardman’s stop-motion animated movie Early Man, telling the story of how an early cave man and his friend, a wild boar named Hognob, unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game. The primary voice cast features Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Maisie Williams. We’ve already seen the US teaser trailer and a full international trailer previously, but one more can’t hurt, especially since this does look very fun. As with the previous trailer, this one has a bunch of soccer/football jokes to appeal to European crowds. ›››

  • First Teaser Trailer for Disney's 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms'

First Teaser Trailer for Disney's 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms'

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Trailer

“It’s Christmas Eve… A time of mystery… Expectations… Who knows what might happen…?” Disney has debuted the first teaser trailer for another new live-action take on a classic story – The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Going back to the original story, this one has a darker side (as the teaser trailer teases) and seems to be a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Chronicles of Narnia. This new movie stars Mackenzie Foy as Clara, who gets lost in another realm where she finds gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice. The cast includes Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Matthew Macfadyen, Miranda Hart, Ellie Bamber, and Jack Whitehall. This looks like exactly what you would expect from Disney – magical and pretty much the same color palette and CGI worlds as every other live-action movie they have made in the last few years. But they keep making tons of money, so they keep making these. Check this out. ›››

  • Benicio Del Toro is Back in Teaser Trailer for 'Sicario' Sequel 'Soldado'

Benicio Del Toro is Back in Teaser Trailer for 'Sicario' Sequel 'Soldado'

    Soldado Teaser Trailer

“You want to see this thing through? I’m going to have to get… dirty.” Sony Pictures has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the new thriller Soldado, the sequel to Sicario, Denis Villeneuve’s intense thriller set along the US-Mexico border. The title card of this says it’s officially titled Sicario 2: Soldado, and not just Soldado, but either works. Emily Blunt is not back this time, as her story is complete, but Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro are back. In Soldado, the drug war has escalated as the cartels have shifted to trafficking terrorists across the border. Like pretty much all crime thrillers, this has a masked gunman (referencing Heat) and it looks slick, but I’m not sure it’s going to be anywhere near as good as Sicario. I’m also a bit let down there is no lead woman in the cast, aside from Catherine Keener as a CIA boss. Still worth a watch. ›››

First Full Trailer for Heist Comedy 'Ocean's 8' Directed by Gary Ross

    Ocean's 8 Trailer

“This is mommy’s very special work trip.” Warner Bros has unveiled the first official trailer for the heist comedy Ocean’s 8, the all-women follow-up to the Ocean’s 11 series. This is produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, so it kinda has that Danny Ocean vibe anyway, even though there’s a shot of Danny in a cemetery so yeah. The fantastic ensemble of women who pull off a heist in New York includes: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, and Awkwafina. There’s many other potential cameos in this, as the heist takes place during the fancy Met Gala. Honestly, this looks fun and it might be the perfect continuation of the Ocean’s series. ›››

  • Teaser Trailer for the 'Mortal Engines' Movie Produced by Peter Jackson

Teaser Trailer for the 'Mortal Engines' Movie Produced by Peter Jackson

    Mortal Engines

“What is that?!” “That… is London.” Universal has revealed the first teaser trailer for a big sci-fi adaptation called Mortal Engines, based on a popular book series. This adaptation has been in the works for years, in development by Peter Jackson and the LOTR/Hobbit team. For a long time, Jackson considered directing and was developing it that way, but he eventually handed it over to a VFX supervisor at Weta to making his directorial debut. Now we get a first look at footage from the teaser and it’s impressive. Mortal Engines is about a post-apocalyptic future where gigantic moving cities roam the Earth (and battle each other). The fantastically eccentirc ensemble cast includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. This actually looks pretty dang cool, no thanks to amazing VFX from Weta. Looking forward to seeing more footage next year. Take a look. ›››

  • Review: 'The Last Jedi' Takes 'Star Wars' in a Refreshing New Direction

Review: 'The Last Jedi' Takes 'Star Wars' in a Refreshing New Direction

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

This year’s new Star Wars movie is unlike any Star Wars movie we’ve seen before. To some, this seems to be frustrating and upsetting – it’s not what they wanted to see, or were expecting, and it doesn’t deliver in some ways. For me, however, it’s a refreshing and exciting movie that gives us something different and still packs a punch. To jump right into this I will say up front, even after 3 viewings, I still don’t quite “love” The Last Jedi (some of the humor still makes me cringe). I very much like it, and I enjoy it, and there are some moments and some parts I love. But overall, the movie isn’t one of my favorites this year (it won’t be on my Top 10). That said, there’s still so much to it (not only to discuss) but to admire and appreciate and learn from. Note: this review contains spoilers to discuss everything that happens, so only read if you’re ready. ›››

Official Trailer for True Story Punk Rock Indie Thriller Film 'Bomb City'

    Bomb City Trailer

“My entire life people tried to rattle my cage, to force me to explode from the inside out.” Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for an indie drama titled Bomb City, based on a true story of a punk rock hate crime in Amarillo, Texas in 1997. The title Bomb City refers to the name of a rundown venue where a guy known as Brian Deneke hosts punk shows. After losing a football game, high school jocks from a group known as the “white-hatters” start a big street fight with the punks. Dave Davis stars as Brian, and the cast includes Glenn Morshower, Logan Huffman, Lorelei Linklater, Eddie Hassell, Henry Knotts, Maemae Renfrow, Dominic Ryan Gabriel, Luke Shelton, Cody Cates, with Marilyn Manson. This looks like a damn good film, with what seems to be a stellar performance from Dave Davis. Worth a watch. ›››
