Christopher Plummer in a New Trailer for 'All the Money in the World'

All the Money in the World Trailer

“He’s my son and I’ll stop at nothing to bring him home.” Get you first look at the new casting. Sony has released a brand new, 30-second TV spot for Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, a crime thriller set in the 1970s about a massive kidnapping plot arranged by a left-wing paramilitary organization in Italy. Just four weeks ago, Kevin Spacey was outed in multiple sexual harassment accusations, so Sony decided to recast his character completely at the last minute. Christopher Plummer stepped in to reshoot his scenes playing oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, and this new spot features footage of him already. He actually looks pretty damn good. All the Money in the World also co-stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Williams, Timothy Hutton, Charlie Plummer, Andrew Buchan, Olivia Grant, Teresa Mahoney, Romain Duris, and Charlie Shotwell. This still seems worth seeing even without thinking about the recasting. Check this out. ›››

  • Official UK Trailer for Indie Drama 'Dark River' Starring Ruth Wilson

Official UK Trailer for Indie Drama 'Dark River' Starring Ruth Wilson

    Dark River Trailer

“I just… couldn’t face him.” Arrow Films in the UK has debuted the official trailer for indie drama Dark River, which played at the Toronto and London Film Festivals this year. The story follows a woman, played by Ruth Wilson, who returns to her home village for the first time in 15 years, to claim the tenancy to the family farm she believes is rightfully hers. But she soon discovers her brother has different ideas for the land. The small but strong cast includes Mark Stanley, Shane Attwooll, Steve Garti, and Sean Bean. From the looks of it, this seems like an emotionally draining small town drama. This is a very lovely trailer with the music playing in the background throughout, and editing that almost makes it seem like a short film. Not sure if the film itself is any good, but this trailer definitely did get my attention. Check it out below. ›››

  • Teaser Trailer for Gay Coming-of-Age 'Love, Simon' with Nick Robinson

Teaser Trailer for Gay Coming-of-Age 'Love, Simon' with Nick Robinson

    Love, Simon Trailer

His story must come out. 20th Century Fox has premiered the first teaser trailer for a movie titled Love, Simon, hitting theaters in March. This is one of the first gay coming-of-age films about the dilemmas of kid in high school who has yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Starring young actor Nick Robinson (seen in Jurassic World and The Kings of Summer) as Simon. The full cast also includes Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, and Tony Hale. This is described as a “funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.” So this actually looks damn good, looking forward to it. ›››

  • Martin Landau in First Trailer for Film 'Abe & Phil's Last Poker Game'

Martin Landau in First Trailer for Film 'Abe & Phil's Last Poker Game'

Abe & Phil's Last Poker Game Trailer

“Is she really your daughter?” Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie comedy titled Abe & Phil’s Last Poker Game, which is the very final film starring the late, great American actor Martin Landau. He plays a man who moves to an assisted living home and befriends another resident, a womanizing gambler. They decide to host poker games, but also attempt to convince a mysterious nurse that they are her long-lost father. The cast includes Paul Sorvino, Maria Dizzia, and Pamela Dubin. This looks like one of those charming old person’s indie comedies where they find some happiness and joy in life again. It looks a bit amusing, and probably only worth seeing to catch Martin Landau one final time. Enjoy. ›››

  • First Trailer for 'Journeyman' – Written & Directed by Paddy Considine

First Trailer for 'Journeyman' – Written & Directed by Paddy Considine

    Journeyman Trailer

“When I come back through that door, I’m still going to be champion of the world.” This trailer is worth a watch. Studiocanal UK has unveiled the first UK trailer for Journeyman, the new film written & directed by English actor Paddy Considine (he last directed the acclaimed Tyrannosaur in 2011). Journeyman tells the story of a world champion boxer named Matty Burton, also played by Paddy Considine, who struggles with life after a head injury that leaves him almost completely debilitated. The cast includes Jodie Whittaker as his wife, along with Paul Popplewell, Tony Pitts, and Anthony Welsh and others. This premiered at the London Film Festival, where I first saw it and wrote a glowing review of the film. As you can see with this trailer, it’s not so much about boxing as it is about the struggle of mental illness. See below. ›››

  • First Teaser Trailer for Animated 'Smallfoot' About a Kind-Hearted Yeti

First Teaser Trailer for Animated 'Smallfoot' About a Kind-Hearted Yeti

    Smallfoot Trailer

“Way to scar ’em for life…” Warner Bros has debuted the first teaser trailer for an animated comedy titled Smallfoot, which will hit theaters starting next September. So this is now the second, official animated “Bigfoot” movie coming out in 2018, the other one being The Son of Bigfoot (funny enough, both of them involve the mythical wilderness monster(s) meeting a human). Smallfoot is actually about the abominable snowman instead of a bigfoot in the forest. The story follows a Yeti whose life changes when he discovers something that shouldn’t exist—a human. Channing Tatum stars as the voice of Migo; the cast includes Zendaya, Gina Rodriguez, Danny DeVito, Yara Shahidi, Jimmy Tatro, Ely Henry, and LeBron James. This is a bit odd, it reminds me of Monsters Inc, but with the yetis instead – almost like a spin-off. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Special Forces in Afghanistan Action Film '12 Strong'

Second Trailer for Special Forces in Afghanistan Action Film '12 Strong'

    12 Strong Trailer

“Chances are we are not going to make it out of this one…” Warner Bros has debuted the second trailer for 12 Strong, formerly known as Horse Soldiers, about a Special Forces group sent into Afghanistan at the beginning of the war after 9/11. They end up working with a local Afghani warlord in order to take down the Taliban, riding horses into battle, which is why this was previously called Horse Soldiers, but of course. Chris Hemsworth stars, along with an ensemble cast including Taylor Sheridan, Michael Shannon, Austin Stowell, Michael Peña, Geoff Stults, and Elsa Pataky. This second trailer doesn’t look any better than the first, with more action+explosions galore, patriotism everywhere, and lots and lots of guns. ›››

  • New Extended TV Spot for Spielberg's 'The Post' Builds Up the Intensity

New Extended TV Spot for Spielberg's 'The Post' Builds Up the Intensity

    The Post TV Trailer

“Do you have the papers?” “Not yet…” 20th Century Fox is pushing strong with Steven Spielberg’s surprise end-of-the-year drama The Post, which seems to be getting good buzz after its first screenings. This new extended TV spot comes hot on the tail of the first official trailer a few weeks ago, and it’s just as intense of a tease. The Post is about about The Washington Post and the publishing of the Pentagon Papers about the Vietnam War in 1971. This seems like a very important, necessary story to tell in these times. Tom Hanks stars as editor Ben Bradlee, and Meryl Streep stars as Post publisher Katharine Graham. The cast includes Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford, Zach Woods. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie for many good reasons, but mostly because it’s Spielberg, of course. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Obama Presidency Documentary 'The Final Year'

Official Trailer for Obama Presidency Documentary 'The Final Year'

    The Final Year Trailer

“People need to be the center of our foreign policy thinking.” Magnolia Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for Greg Barker’s new documentary The Final Year, which profiles the last year of Obama’s two-term presidency. The documentary team follows Obama’s foreign policy team as thy coordinate and discuss global politics with the President, attempting to achieve some major goals in the last year (before it all gets undone ugh). This is an outstanding documentary (in many ways) that I recently saw at the IDFA Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, and I kind of loved it. There’s some great editing and music, but it’s also just a refreshing look at extremely passionate, determined, hard-working people who just want to make the world a more peaceful, better, safer, healthier place and gave everything to do that. Don’t skip this. ›››
