  • New Trailer for 'Blockers' with Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena

New Trailer for 'Blockers' with Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena

    Blockers Trailer

“Our girls are not thinking things through… I’m going to stop them!” Universal Pictures has released the second official trailer for the upcoming spring comedy titled Blockers, formerly known as The Pact, the feature directorial debut of writer/producer Kay Cannon. We already posted a red band trailer for this and it looks so awful. The plot involves three parents discovering their children are planning to lose their virginity on prom night, and set off to go stop them. If you don’t get it, the title is a reference to “cockblocking” and the poster is basically that with a giant rooster (a “cock”), and it’s so stupidly obvious it’s painful. Blockers stars Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Indira Viswanathan, and Gideon Adlan. This look so, so, so bad and I’m sad because the cast is great. Oh well. Enjoy if you can. ›››

    Red Sparrow Trailer

“They gave me a choice: die, or become a Sparrow.” 20th Century Fox has just revealed the second official trailer for spy thriller Red Sparrow, starring Jennifer Lawrence as the mysterious, deadly double agent spy named Dominika Egorova. This trailer comes after a TV spot aired during the Golden Globes last night. Lawrence plays a woman named Dominika, who is forced into a Russian spy/double agent program. In addition to Lawrence, the cast includes Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons. This is the latest film from director Francis Lawrence, who last directed the final three Hunger Games films. All this new footage looks slick, I’m excited for it. I’m curious about the double agent storyline and how it works, but I’m already sold and looking forward to finding out. ›››

A Wrinkle In Time TV Spot

“Do you trust me?!” Disney aired this new TV spot for Ava DuVernary’s adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time, based on the novel by Madeleine L’Engle, during the Golden Globes show tonight. This is a rather intense, thrilling new spot with fresh footage we haven’t seen. I’m pretty dang excited for this! Looks like some big sci-fi with the Disney touch. The story follows Meg, her brother, and her friend, who are sent into space by three peculiar beings in order to search and find their missing scientist father. Starring Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis, Oprah Winfrey, Bellamy Young, Mindy Kaling, Rowan Blanchard, Levi Miller, André Holland, Daniel MacPherson, Will McCormack, Deric McCabe, along with Storm Reid as Meg. What an exciting TV spot, fire it up below. ›››

2018 Golden Globe Awards Winners – 'Three Billboards' Top Winner

    Golden Globes Winners

The winners of the HFPA’s 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the precursor to the Academy Awards, have been announced tonight at a ceremony held at The Beverly Hilton hotel, hosted by late night comedian Seth Meyers. Hopefully this will be an exciting show, as the HFPA is often very boring. Our list below will be updated with all film-related winners as they’re revealed during the live broadcast. The nominees featured a lots of great films from 2017, including Get Out, The Shape of Water, Dunkirk and Call Me By Your Name, of course, and I’m curious to find out which films/actors the HFPA fell for this time. Let’s see who wins big. ›››

Watch: 'The Collection' Short Doc About Movie Ads Letterpress Plates

    The Collection Short Film

Now this is a sweet find. Movie geeks of all ages need to take a moment to watch this short doc, titled The Collection, made by filmmaker Adam Roffman. “The Collection is a short documentary about two friends, DJ Ginsberg and Marilyn Wagner, and their discovery of an astonishing and unique collection of movie memorabilia, comprised of over 40,000 printer blocks and 20,000 printer plates used to create the original newspaper advertisements for virtually every movie released in the United States from the silent period through 1984, when newspapers stopped using the letterpress format.” Once you’re done watching, you can see more photos of the plates on the film’s website. Wish I could see them in person. What an excellent doc. ›››

  • Brie Larson Goes to India in First Trailer for Charming 'Basmati Blues'

Brie Larson Goes to India in First Trailer for Charming 'Basmati Blues'

    Basmati Blues Trailer

“I know enough about biology, to know that love is not some mystery…” Shout! has released the US trailer for Dan Baron’s Basmati Blues, an indie drama starring Oscar winner Brie Larson as a brilliant young scientist who is sent on a work trip to India. There she falls for a young Indian man, and when discovers that her company’s plans actually involve destroying local farms, she and her new love interest set out to make things right. For those who think this looks like another one of these white savior in a foreign land films, the producers previously address this by saying the film itself isn’t actually that way, and you should see the full film before judging it. Aside from Larson, the cast includes Utkarsh Ambudkar, Scott Bakula, Saahil Sehgal, Tyne Daly, and Donald Sutherland. This looks rather charming and like a good anti-corporate greed film, which I fully support, so I’m curious to check it out. Plus it’s Brie Larson! She’s always delightful. ›››

Looking Back: Jeremy Kirk's Picks for the Top 10 Best Films of 2017

Jeremy Kirk's Picks for the Top 10 Best Films of 2017

Another year, another stellar slate of motion pictures seeing release. Despite what others might say about it (once again) being an off year at the movies, there were definitely some true winners worth seeking out. All you had to do was find them. Films that moved us, resonated with us, and out-and-out blew us away all saw release in 2017, so much of them, in fact, that, as with previous years at the cinema, it was difficult coming up with the 10 best. Here you will find my Top 10 Films of 2017, those motion pictures that spoke to me more than others, but someone else’s Top 10 could just as easily be a completely different set of movies. It’s a testament to just how strong a year is for movies that the Best Of lists are so diverse (view Adam’s here). ›››

  • Official Full Trailer for Alex Ross Perry's Brooklyn Film 'Golden Exits'

Official Full Trailer for Alex Ross Perry's Brooklyn Film 'Golden Exits'

    Golden Exits Trailer

“Let’s just let this whole affair be simple…” Sony has released the full official trailer for Alex Ross Perry’s Golden Exits, which played at numerous film festivals throughout 2017 and is just now hitting theaters in February of 2018. We featured the first teaser trailer almost a year ago. Golden Exits is an “intersectional” drama about two families in Brooklyn and the “unraveling of unspoken unhappiness” that occurs when a young foreign girl spending time abroad upsets the balance on both sides. Emily Browning stars, along with Adam Horovitz, Mary-Louise Parker, Lily Rabe, Jason Schwartzman, and Chloë Sevigny. This received bad reviews from the festivals, and you can really tell why with this trailer. This may appeal to a few people, but most should probably ignore it. The cinematography is awful, so grainy, bland, and boring. ›››

  • Jason Momoa as a Lumberjack in Trailer for Action Thriller 'Braven'

Jason Momoa as a Lumberjack in Trailer for Action Thriller 'Braven'

    Braven Movie Trailer

“They pushed him to the edge.” Saban Films has launched the first official, international trailer for an action thriller film titled Braven, which we haven’t heard much about before now but it looks badass. Starring Jason Momoa as a humble lumberback working on the US/Canada border, he must fight back to save and protect his family when “elite” drug runners run into some problems with a shipment of heroin. The full cast includes Garrett Dillahunt, Stephen Lang, Jill Wagner, Brendan Fletcher, Sala Baker, and Zahn McClarnon. This looks like another one of these unassuming-man-is-really-a-badass films, but something about Momoa taking on this group of drug goons seems especially awesome to me. It’s worth a quick look. ›››
