Logan Lerman & Elle Fanning in 'The Vanishing of Sidney Hall' Trailer

The Vanishing of Sidney Hall Trailer

“Tell me if this sounds familiar…” A24 has unveiled an official trailer for a mysterious indie drama titled The Vanishing of Sidney Hall, formerly known as just Sidney Hall when it premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. There wasn’t much buzz for this and it’s just finally getting a release one year later, for those who might be interested. Logan Lerman stars as the titular Sidney Hall, who found accidental success as a writer of a popular novel, along with unexpected love, at an early age, then disappears without a trace. Some of his friends and family go on a hunt to find him, and figure out what happened. Elle Fanning also co-stars, along with Kyle Chandler, Michelle Monaghan, Nathan Lane, and Margaret Qualley. I actually saw this film at Sundance but totally forgot about it, because there wasn’t much to it. There’s an intriguing truth to it with Lerman’s character, who hates popularity, but the rest is a bit dry. Check this out. ›››

Final Full-Length Trailer for 4th 'Hatchet' Horror Film 'Victor Crowley'

    Victor Crowley Movie Trailer

“Death returns, and its name is…” Dark Sky Films has released the final, full official trailer for the horror sequel Victor Crowley, the 4th film in the Hatchet horror series. Creator Adam Green returns to write & direct this film, which has been described as “smartly written, outrageously funny, and incredibly gory.” Horror fans may remember that this film was a big surprise last fall, as no one knew it was even being made and suddenly they had announced with a touring road show. Set a decade after the events of the first three films, the story follows the one-and-only survivor who has been trying to get people to believe his story for years. He ends up back at the place where it all started, and Crowley is resurrected. Starring Kane Hodder and Parry Shen, with Laura Ortiz, Dave Sheridan, and Brian Quinn. Only for die-hard horror fans. ›››

    The Female Brain Trailer

“Knowing your brain makes life so much easier.” IFC Films has debuted the first official trailer for an indie comedy film titled The Female Brain, which is the feature directorial debut of popular comedian/actress Whitney Cummings. Cummings also stars in the film as a “no-nonsense neuroscientist”, researching the biochemistry of the female brain. The film attempts to explain how and why our brains work when it comes to attraction and relationships, in a quirky, comedic way. The full ensemble cast includes Cecily Strong, Blake Griffin, Sofia Vergara, Deon Cole, Lucy Punch, James Marsden, Toby Kebbell, as well as Beanie Feldstein (from Lady Bird and Neighbors 2). This trailer doesn’t have much impressive footage in it, with barely an appearance by Toby Kebbell in one shot. I’m not too sure this will be any good. See below. ›››

New HBO Trailer for Doc 'May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers'

May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers

“Do we turn, and explore?” HBO has unveiled a new trailer for the documentary May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers, which is a film about the band known as the Avett Brothers, from North Carolina. We already posted a trailer for this last year, as it played in theaters for one night, but HBO is releasing it streaming in January hence the new trailer. This is an Apatow Production in association with RadicalMedia and HBO Documentary Films; and co-directed by fans Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. For those who haven’t listened to them, The Avett Brothers combine bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, indie rock, honky tonk, and ragtime to produce a novel sound. This is an “intimate documentary” that follows them as they create their 2016 album “True Sadness.” Any/all music fans might want to take a look. ›››

  • Official Trailer for 10th 'Hellraiser' Horror Film 'Hellraiser: Judgment'

Official Trailer for 10th 'Hellraiser' Horror Film 'Hellraiser: Judgment'

    Hellraiser: Judgment Trailer

“Evil seeks evil.” Lionsgate has launched an official trailer for the latest Hellraiser film titled Hellraiser: Judgment, which is actually the 10th film in the Hellraiser series (believe it or not?). I didn’t even realize there with this many. The original horror cult classic Hellraiser was released in 1987, from writer/director Clive Barker. Hellraiser: Judgment is directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who has been working for two decades as a horror make-up effects artist before jumping into the director’s seat this time. It tells the story of three detectives as they struggle to solve a horrifying murder, but instead find themselves thrust into the depths of Pinhead’s hellacious landscape. Starring Paul T. Taylor as Pinhead, along with Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris, John Gulager, Mike Jay Regan, plus Heather Langenkamp. See below. ›››

  • Lyndsy Fonseca in First Trailer for Time Travel Indie Film 'Curvature'

Lyndsy Fonseca in First Trailer for Time Travel Indie Film 'Curvature'

    Curvature Trailer

“Why do you think Wells was so secretive about his work?” Screen Media has unveiled a trailer for indie sci-fi thriller Curvature, which premiered at the Sitges Film Festival last year. This time travel film follows a young engineer named Helen Phillips, played by Lyndsy Fonseca (who you will recognize from Kick-Ass or “Agent Carter”), distraught by her husband’s suicide. He had been developing a time travel prototype. She wakes up one morning and gets a phone call from herself, which sets things in motion as she tries to figure out what’s going on. Co-starring Linda Hamilton, Glenn Morshower, Alex Lanipekun, Zach Avery, Noah Bean. I saw this at Sitges and unfortunately it’s not good. It has all the right ingredients, including a cool-looking time travel machine, but just doesn’t amount to much and is instantly forgettable. Check it out. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Los Angeles-Set Druggie Indie 'A Thousand Junkies'

Official Trailer for Los Angeles-Set Druggie Indie 'A Thousand Junkies'

    A Thousand Junkies Trailer

“Who do we know who can come through for us?” An official trailer has debuted for a funky little indie film titled A Thousand Junkies, set in Los Angeles following a drug junkie looking for his next fix. As much as that sounds like a film no one wants to see, the description is rather intriguing: it’s a “‘drug’ movie with no drugs, and a ‘road’ movie that goes nowhere.” From first-time director Tommy Swerdlow, the film stars TJ Bowen (who co-wrote the script) as TJ, one of the junkies going about his 9 to 5 life of searching for drugs. The cast includes Patricia Castelo Branco, Dinarte de Freitas, and Blake Heron. The Film Stage says the film “is not necessarily a morality tale, nor is it pure voyeurism. It’s simply capturing a day in a life — or three, to be more specific.” This reminds me a bit of Trainspotting, looks like a good time. Fire it up below. ›››

One More Badass TV Trailer for Ryan Coogler's 'Black Panther' Lands

    Black Panther TV Trailer

“The Black Panther lives!” Disney has unveiled a new 90-second TV trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther, to promote tickets being on sale (buy them here) and build some buzz with a month left until this hits theaters. This looks so badass, it’s one of my most anticipated of the entire year. Directed by Ryan Coogler (of Fruitvale Station, Creed), the story follows King T’Challa, once again played by Chadwick Boseman, who must defend his African nation of Wakanda from threats inside and out. The superb cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis as Klaw, Florence Kasumba, John Kani, and Sterling K. Brown. Love all the footage, I’m so ready to watch this and see how it all plays out. Let loose the Panther, Marvel! ›››

  • First Trailer for 'FredHeads: The Documentary' About 'Nightmare' Fans

First Trailer for 'FredHeads: The Documentary' About 'Nightmare' Fans

    FredHeads: The Documentary

“Are you a FredHead?” An early teaser trailer has debuted for a fascinating little documentary about horror fans who loved the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, the one with knife-glove-wearing Freddy Krueger as its nasty villain. It’s called FredHeads: The Documentary and examines the culture and community that has built up around the Elm Street series and Freddy. This doc is being directed by Paige Troxell, who also previously made the fan film Don’t Fall Asleep telling the story of Nancy Thompson after the events of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The film is still being completed and is seeking funding on Indiegogo, so if you like this trailer, help them out to make sure it gets finished (hopefully in 2018). This bit of footage in the teaser is cool, and I’m hoping they get the money they need. This is a perfect film to debut at Fantastic Fest. ›››

“Humankind vs. the largest Godzilla ever.” Netflix Japan has released an official trailer for the anime movie Godzilla: Monster Planet, which will be available for streaming worldwide from Netflix later this month.
