Evan Rachel Wood in Official Trailer for Emotional Indie Drama 'Allure'

    Allure Trailer

“What kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into?” Samuel Goldwyn Films has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled Allure, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last fall. The indie drama is the feature directorial debut of filmmaking brothers Carlos Sanchez and Jason Sanchez, and stars Evan Rachel Wood as a woman who has experienced abuse in her past, now working as a house cleaner for her father’s company. She meets another young woman named Eva, played by Julia Sarah Stone, and they make a deep connection that helps them both move forward. The film received some strong reviews, mostly praising Evan Rachel Wood and her performance as “frighteningly good.” The main cast includes Denis O’Hare and Maxim Roy. This looks like a very important, emotional drama that will mean a lot to women. ›››

New Full-Length Trailer for Xavier Gens' Creature Feature 'Cold Skin'

    Cold Skin Trailer

“Demons from Atlantis…” Finally! A full-length trailer has arrived for a mysterious, chilly horror film titled Cold Skin, the latest creation from French filmmaker Xavier Gens (of Frontier(s) and The Divide). We posted a teaser trailer for this last summer, but haven’t heard much from it ever since then, despite playing at a few film festivals. Set on a desolate island in the Antarctic Circle, the film tells of a man living there who discovers that at night the island is overrun by creatures. This trailer finally gives us a good look at them and they’re quite chilling. The cast includes David Oakes, Ray Stevenson, and Aura Garrido as Aneris, who seems to be one of these creatures that one of the men falls in love with. I’m so glad they don’t have to hide the blood in this trailer, makes a difference. I’m very curious about this film, something has me hooked. ›››

    Summer of '84 Trailer

“There’s a serial killer on the loose… What else could possibly be this exciting?!” Gunpowder & Sky has put out the first teaser trailer for filmmaking collective RKSS’ new film Summer of ’84, which is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this month. This film comes with quite a similar pitch to many other projects these days: it “delivers the camaraderie, adventure, joy and nostalgia of The Goonies and Stand By Me while four boys chase to uncover a mystery (ala ‘Stranger Things’).” The main cast is lead by a group of four young kids, and the film stars Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Tiera Skovbye, Rich Sommer, Jason Gray-Stanford, and Shauna Johannesen. This really does look like Stand By Me meets “Stranger Things”, but hopefully it has something to unique offer on its own. Have fun. ›››

  • Second Official Trailer for Brian O'Malley's Gothic Horror 'The Lodgers'

Second Official Trailer for Brian O'Malley's Gothic Horror 'The Lodgers'

    The Lodgers Trailer

“Every sound the house makes, I hear them…” Epic Pictures has unveiled a new official trailer for the Irish gothic horror film called The Lodgers, following up the first trailer that debuted last year when this film was premiering at film festivals in the fall. Set in 1920s, the story is about twins Rachel and Edward who share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (“The Lodgers”) who enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. Sounds pretty creepy. Starring Charlotte Vega, Bill Milner, David Bradley, and Eugene Simon. This looks like a solid thriller and it got some good reviews at the festivals. Might be worth a watch. ›››

  • New Trailer for 'Beuys' Documentary on German Artist Joseph Beuys

New Trailer for 'Beuys' Documentary on German Artist Joseph Beuys

    Beuys Trailer

“Art is total freedom and self-determination.” Kino Lorber has debuted a new US trailer for a documentary titled Beuys, profiling the life and work of radical German artist Joseph Beuys. You may not know his name, but you probably know some of his work. But this is also the perfect documentary to watch to give you a complete introduction and help you understand some of his mindset and mantras for creating such unique, innovative, radical art. I saw this film at the Berlin Film Festival last year where it premiered, and listed it as one of my favorite films of the fest. It’s a fascinating and creative look at Joseph Beuys, and more than anything made me admire this great artist and feel deeply inspired by his work and his outlook on life. ›››

  • Teaser Trailer for WB's Nature Doc Movie 'Pandas' About, Well, Pandas

Teaser Trailer for WB's Nature Doc Movie 'Pandas' About, Well, Pandas

    Pandas Trailer

“Prepare for cuteness overload!” ? Oh boy. Warner Bros has debuted the first teaser trailer for a new nature documentary titled Pandas, that is simply about pandas in the wild. Filmed with IMAX cameras and being presented in IMAX and IMAX 3D, the film takes place mostly around Chengdu Panda Base in China. It follows a few researchers and documents the re-introduction of a panda into the wild. This is made by the filmmakers behind the other nature docs Born to be Wild and Island of Lemurs: Madagascar, and features a score composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (of Thor: Ragnarok). It looks like a harmless, fun, delightful animal documentary similar to the ones Disneynature has been putting out the past few years. I’m sure we’ll see even more footage when the full trailer arrives, as this is just the teaser – but it’s adorable anyway. Enjoy. ›››

  • First Trailer for James McTeigue's Home Invasion Thriller 'Breaking In'

First Trailer for James McTeigue's Home Invasion Thriller 'Breaking In'

    Breaking In Movie Trailer

“I will do anything to protect my kids.” Holy smokes, this looks awesome! Universal has debuted the first official trailer for a home invasion thriller titled Breaking In, which kind of twists the old home invasion concept just a bit. Gabrielle Union stars as a woman who moves with her children to her father’s old home which features very high tech security. When intruders break in and lock her out, she must figure out how to break back in and rescue her kids, stopping at nothing to get back at these invaders. This is, crazy enough, the next movie from V for Vendetta director James McTeigue. The film’s full cast includes Billy Burke, Richard Cabral, Seth Carr, Levi Meaden, and Ajiona Alexus. This seriously looks badass, and I am glad it has some twists on the unusual home invasion plot. I’m definitely in. This May, payback is a mother. ›››

  • Official UK Trailer for Indie Drama 'Scott and Sid' About Two Friends

Official UK Trailer for Indie Drama 'Scott and Sid' About Two Friends

    Scott and Sid Trailer

“It’s a pattern! We’re born into this system…” An official trailer has arrived for an eccentric, offbeat British drama about two schoolboys who become friends and chase bigger dreams, titled Scott and Sid. This is the first time we’ve heard anything about this film, which doesn’t seem to have shown up at many film festivals but is opening in cinemas in March (at least in the UK). Directed by the real life “Scott and Sid”, Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj, the film stars Richard Mason as Scott and Tom Blyth as Sid. It seems to be a story about the power of friendship, and how these two misfits were able to inspire and push each other to achieve more than they were ever supposed to, growing up as underachievers. This actually looks fairly good, it’s a solid trailer and seems to be a straightforward coming-of-age drama with strong performances. Take a look. ›››

Teaser Trailer for WB's 'Teen Titans Go! To The Movies' Opening in July

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Teaser

“Do you know what makes a real hero?” Warner Bros has debuted the first teaser trailer for the big screen, feature version of the “Teen Titans” animated superhero series, titled Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, hitting theaters this July. “Teen Titans Go! to the Movies finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza — a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers.” The voice cast includes Will Arnett and Kristen Bell, plus Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hynden Walch as Starfire, reprising their roles from the series. This looks very funny, as expected. The Wonder Woman gag in this is pretty good, along with all the meta-jokes. Enjoy. ›››

Looking Back: Alex's Top 10 Favorite Films of 2017 – 'Call Me' Reigns

    Alex's Top 10 Favorite Films of 2017

“If you only knew how little I really know about the things that matter…” It was a year of masterpieces, another outstanding year of films big and small, funny and serious, that I fell madly in love with. It’s time to present my personal list of my Top 10 Favorite Films of 2017. Admittedly, it’s always a challenge for me to put together a Top 10 list, just because there’s never enough time to watch (and rewatch) everything. So I just have to go with what I feel in my gut. This year, my #1 film is one that could not be topped for the entire year – I first saw it at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and it remained my #1 for the next 11 months. As for the rest of my picks, I’ve included two documentaries because they both made me unabashedly happy. ›››
