“I know I have a past… I’ll find out who I was.” Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first full trailer for Rupert Sanders’ live-action Ghost in the Shell movie, starring Scarlett Johansson as “The Major”. Adapting from the manga and anime, the movie is about a “one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid” who leads an elite task force as part of Section 9. She goes on the hunt to find a hacker criminal who wants to destroy all the technology at Hanka Robotics. Also starring Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Michael Wincott, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, filmmaker Takeshi Kitano, Joseph Naufahu, with Pilou Asbæk as Batou. The first teasers didn’t show much, but now we get a look at the action and I have to say – this looks totally awesome. I’m impressed they actually made a movie that really, truly looks like the anime. Bring it. ›››

“Claire was complicated… she was dangerous.” Saban Films has debuted the new official theatrical trailer an indie drama titled Come and Find Me, a mysterious thriller about a missing woman. The first trailer we posted for this, which is actually even longer than this one below, was just a teaser – this is the final full trailer. Aaron Paul stars in this, with Annabelle Wallis, Garret Dillahunt, Valerie Tian, Zachary Knighton and Terry Chen. When his girlfriend goes missing, David tracks down her whereabouts after he realizes she’s not who she was pretending to be. This film seems to turn into some kind of violent action thriller in the second half, which makes me a little bit concerned, but you never know – it still might be good. ›››

“I was waiting for you…” Cohen Media + Amazon Studios have debuted another new US trailer for Asghar Farhadi’s latest film, a drama called The Salesman, which first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this summer. The title is in reference to many unique aspects of the plot, but also specifically Arthur Miller’s play “Death of a Salesman” which is being performed in the film. The actual story is about a couple whose relationship is tested after an assault incident with his wife while she’s home alone. Shahab Hosseini and Taraneh Alidoosti star as the couple. I wrote in my review from Cannes it’s “a complex, nuanced film with an intricate script that plays out in a very engrossing way.” Recommended viewing for the end of the year. ›››

“What I learned was… powerful men don’t have to be cruel.” Warner Bros has debuted the second trailer for Ben Affleck’s new crime drama Live by Night, set during the Prohibition times in the 1920s in Boston. Ben Affleck stars in and directs this, playing the youngest son of a Boston police captain, who becomes an outlaw. The full ensemble cast features Scott Eastwood, Elle Fanning, Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller, Chris Sullivan, Anthony Michael Hall, Brendan Gleeson, Titus Welliver, Chris Messina, Chris Cooper and Derek Mears. This looks so damn good! Amazing cinematography by Robert Richardson, and a helluva violent story about criminals, bootlegging, and the American dream. Both trailers for this movie have been superb, I’m very much looking forward to it. Affleck certainly knows what he’s doing as a director. ›››

“And the future of the country depends on that…” Magnolia Pictures has debuted a new teaser trailer for a documentary titled I Am Not Your Negro, about the legacy of James Baldwin. The documentary focuses on the book “Remember This House”, that Baldwin never finished. Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions a finished version of the book – a “radical narration” about race in America, through the lives and deaths of three of his friends: Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers and Malcolm X. The doc uses only the writer’s original words to tell the harrowing story of race in modern America, arriving at one of the most important times for this discussion to continue. “See – he’s just like me… He sees things.” Lionsgate Premiere has unveiled one more new trailer for the film Solace, a psychological thriller about a psychic who attempts to get into the mind of a serial killer. This was originally supposed to open in 2015 and we even ran a trailer last year, but it never came out and the thriller was finally rescheduled to open this December. The film stars Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell, one plays a psychic, the other a meticulous serial killer, who battle mind-to-mind. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish, Marley Shelton and Xander Berkeley also star. This doesn’t look much better than it did last year, though it’s likely better timed now with Anthony Hopkins being in “Westworld”. Have a look. ›››

“To believe in the boogeyman isn’t that hard… And they believed it was real.” HBO has debuted an official trailer for the documentary Beware the Slenderman, about the myth of the Slenderman which resulted in two young girls trying to murder one of their friends to see if he was real. Does anyone know this story already? It’s a true story, at least the part about the two delusional girls who believed in this myth, and the internet helped fuel their fascination with him. This doc seems to examine the before and after, looking at how it happened and what the myth of the Slenderman means, how it’s even possible that something like this created online can seem so real in the minds of these two girls. This looks fascinating, and quite freaky. ›››

“Take hold of this moment… The Force is strong.” Disney + Lucasfilm have debuted one more brand new international trailer, similar to the most recent third trailer, for Gareth Edwards’ solo movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This features extra bits and pieces of footage in addition to what was shown in the third trailer, including a few new shots of Vader and more at the start. There’s even a shot that makes me seem there’s some romance between Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna’s character). Starring Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, plus Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Jonathan Aris, Riz Ahmed & Alan Tudyk. “[She] has gone above and beyond my expectations for the role.” Paramount has launched a new featurette for the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie, ahead of the full trailer launch this weekend. In what seems an obvious move to get ahead of the whitewashing claims, the video features Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Oshii, who directed the original two anime Ghost in the Shell movies, talking about how happy he is seeing Scarlett Johansson in the role as The Major. The featurette actually has lots of new footage, and plenty of behind-the-scenes shots, which is great to see because this does look really cool. There’s a Matrix vibe to it, at least with the action, and I’m glad to see them embracing a digitized world. Stay tuned for the trailer next. ›››

“We get on just great…” EuropaCorp has released the teaser trailer for Luc Besson’s epic return to sci-fi, an action movie called Valerian – or in full – Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Based on the graphic novel series, the movie stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian, and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. They must travel to an intergalactic city called Alpha on a mission. The full cast includes Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Rutger Hauer, Mathieu Kassovitz, Sam Spruell, Kris Wu, Alain Chabat and many others. As a huge, huge fan of The Fifth Element, this is definitely my cup of tea, and it looks like it’s going to be awesome. I’m so ready for Luc Besson to bring us another big space opera. Dive in. ›››
