  • Super Creepy New International Teaser Trailer for 'A Cure for Wellness'

Super Creepy New International Teaser Trailer for 'A Cure for Wellness'

    A Cure for Wellness Trailer

Well this is certainly freaky. Fox has released a new, very short international teaser trailer for a supernatural thriller titled A Cure for Wellness, directed by Gore Verbinski, about a mysterious European “wellness spa” that claims to have found the “cure for wellness”. Dane DeHaan stars as an employee sent to rescue his boss from the spa, only to discover something much more sinister going on. The full cast includes Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth, Celia Imrie, Adrian Schiller, Carl Lumbly, Susanne Wuest, Lisa Banes, Ivo Nandi and Magnus Krepper. This trailer has some of the most disgusting yet alluring imagery for this film yet, although there’s not much footage to see. Just glimpses. I’m still quie curious. Check it out below. ›››

  • Watch: Impressive B&W Stop-Motion Animated Short 'The Lighthouse'

Watch: Impressive B&W Stop-Motion Animated Short 'The Lighthouse'

    The Lighthouse Short Film

Even with endless new CG animated features every year, stop-motion filmmaking is still going strong and it makes me happy to see this. This year there are a few stand out films, between Kubo and the Two Strings as well as My Life as a Zucchini. There’s also some great short films being made, and this one here is another example of how impressive it is to see stop-motion used for visual storytelling. The Lighthouse is a B&W stop-motion short film made by up-and-coming Austrian filmmaker Simon Scheiber about a rather bored lighthouse keeper. The style and detail in this make it mesmerizing to watch, and the ending is quite trippy. ›››

More Joker Mayhem in Extended TV Spot for 'The LEGO Batman Movie'

The LEGO Batman Movie - The Joker

“You seriously saying there is nothing special about us?” “There is no us, there never will be.” Warner Bros has debuted a new extended TV spot for The LEGO Batman Movie, which is hitting theaters in February in just a few more months. There’s a bit of extra footage involving The Joker and some of Batman’s other favorite villains this time, but we’ve already seen three trailers for this. I’m completely sold anyway, I don’t need to see anything else. I’m planning to see this in theaters. The voice cast includes Will Arnett back as Batman / Bruce Wayne, with Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Mariah Carey, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Michael Cera as Robin, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker. This whole movie looks like the biggest Batman inside joke ever, and I am dying to see it. Glad to see them poking fun at every last aspect of Batman. Enjoy. ›››

  • 2017 Golden Globes Nominees – 'La La Land', 'Moonlight' + 'Deadpool'

2017 Golden Globes Nominees – 'La La Land', 'Moonlight' + 'Deadpool'

    Golden Globes

The list of nominations for the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards (of 2017), the yearly precursor to the Academy Awards, have just been announced today – you can find all the film nominees below. The infamous Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees this morning from The Beverly Hilton. The selection this year is impressive, but as always it’s full of some wacky and eye-brow-raising picks, and a few snubs (of course – like Michael Shannon from, well, anything). The top nominees are Damien Chazelle’s La La Land (with 7 noms), Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight and Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea; with a surprise appearance from Deadpool. Another fascinating year of picks but not that surprising for the HFPA. ›››

  • Review: Chazelle's 'La La Land' is a Joyous Return to Old School Cinema

Review: Chazelle's 'La La Land' is a Joyous Return to Old School Cinema

    La La Land Review

“It’s conflict and it’s compromise, and it’s very, very exciting.” That’s how Sebastian, the character played by Ryan Gosling in La La Land, describes jazz, his obvious infatuation with the genre of music seeping into the actor’s delivery. It’s a description that could just as easily be used for the concepts of life and love and the way writer/director Damien Chazelle handles them in his film. La La Land is never as aggressive as Chazelle’s first film, Whiplash, nor does it reach the sincere depths of that film. The intensity works its way into the film in different ways, though, the musical structure leading the viewer through Chazelle’s story of failure and success in Los Angeles with joyous results. For so many different reasons La La Land is every bit the success that Whiplash was, chief among these the undeniable impact the film, and music, has on you. ›››

  • More Stunts in First Trailer for F. Gary Gray's 'The Fate of the Furious'

More Stunts in First Trailer for F. Gary Gray's 'The Fate of the Furious'

    Fast 8 Trailer

“Let’s play.” Ready for more? Universal has unleashed the first official trailer for Fast and the Furious 8, titled officially The Fate of the Furious (ugh), directed by F. Gary Gray (of Straight Outta Compton most recently). After the massive success of Furious 7 in 2015, this franchise continues to roll with Vin Diesel leading the way. The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, plus two newcomers to this one: Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron (as a character named “Cipher”). As expected, this looks absolutely ridiculous with insane stunts (in and out of cars) that seem to defy physics, not to mention common sense. This won’t be for everyone, but it does look fun. Enjoy. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Thriller 'The Crash' About a Stock Market Criminal

Official Trailer for Thriller 'The Crash' About a Stock Market Criminal

    The Crash Poster

“The hacker will save the world.” Vertical Entertainment has debuted a trailer for a film called The Crash, about a stock market crash in the “near future”. Described as a “fast-paced, save-the-world thriller” about a stock market criminal who is secretly hired by the government to run a “shadow” stock market in order to keep the economy stable. This has an oddly impressive ensemble cast: Dianna Agron, Minnie Driver, Frank Grillo, John Leguizamo, Maggie Q, AnnaSophia Robb, Mary McCormack, Ed Westwick, Andrew James Allen and Christopher McDonald. As interesting as this may look, it actually seems to be some seriously absurd stock market propaganda, about how important the stock market is to the stability of the country. Truth is, it is bad, we’d be better off without it. But they don’t want you to think about that. ›››
