First Trailer for Acclaimed Doc 'On Her Shoulders' About Nadia Murad

    On Her Shoulders Doc Trailer

“Murad is campaigning to try to get the world to notice, and do something.” Oscilloscope Labs has debuted the official trailer for a documentary titled On Her Shoulders, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and won the US Documentary Directing Award. The film is even more relevant now because its subject, young activist and genocide survivor Nadia Murad, just won the Nobel Peace Prize with Denis Mukwege. After surviving the 2014 genocide of the Yazidis in Northern Iraq and escaping sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS, 23-year-old Nadia Murad gave a testimony before the U.N. Security Council that was heard around the world. Nadia suddenly became the face and voice of the Yazidis. Despite longing for a normal life away from the spotlight, she takes on the exhausting role of an activist in hopes of halting the ongoing genocide. This seems like a powerful look at how hard it is to speak up and keep living your life. ›››

    Welcome Home Trailer

“We came here to fix this, right? We’re not going to leave until we do.” Vertical Entertainment has released an official trailer for a film titled Welcome Home, a dangerous romantic thriller of sorts from filmmaker George Ratliff (Joshua, Salvation Boulevard). The film stars Aaron Paul and Emily Ratajkowski as a couple who decide to take a trip to the Italian countryside to work on their relationship. They book a home using a website called “Welcome Home”. Once they arrive, an encounter with a neighbor begins to disrupt their relationship even more. The cast also includes Riccardo Scamarcio as Federico, plus Katy Louise Saunders, Alice Bellagamba, and Francesco Acquaroli. This looks like it has some seriously creepy twists and turns. It may start as a struggling romance, but turns into something very freaky and unsettling. ›››

Official Trailer for Doc 'Old Man Football' About Reclaiming Past Glory

    Old Man Football Trailer

“They want to see if they can ‘bring it’ now, because they couldn’t ‘bring it’ then.” How about that for a bit of honesty? Freestyle Digital Media has unveiled the official US trailer for a documentary titled Old Man Football, which premiered at a few small film festivals last year. The film is about an event in which older men and women returned to Corpus Christi (Texas) Carroll High School to play in an old vs young game and reclaim their past glory on the football field. The doc film presents “multiple stories of personal redemption” following a few various people as they return home and think about their lives back then and where they are now. It seems to be leaning a little too heavy on nostalgia, but also looks honest and heartfelt. Check it out. ›››

    Cold War Trailer

“A faultless romantic epic.” Amazon Studios has debuted the official US trailer for the award-winning Polish film Cold War (or Zimna Wojna), which first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this May. Cold War is the latest from acclaimed Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski (The Woman in the Fifth, Ida) and he also won Best Director in Cannes. The film is about a passionate love story between two people, who are fatefully mismatched. Wiktor, played by Tomasz Kot, falls for Zula, played by Joanna Kulig, and they spend years drifting together and apart. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950s. The cast also includes Borys Szyc, Agata Kulesza, Cèdric Kahn, and Jeanne Balibar. The two leads are stupendous, some of the best performances all year, enhanced by gorgeous B&W shots by Pawlikowski’s DP Lukasz Zal. This is definitely going to end up nominated at the Oscars this year, and it’s worth seeing in theaters when it opens. ›››

They discover the Nazi’s secret plans to create more powerful soldiers using supernatural forces. Starring Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, John Magaro, and Mathilde Ollivier. First Trailer for Clint Eastwood's 'The Mule' Releasing This December

    The Mule Trailer

“I didn’t deserve forgiveness…” Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for Clint Eastwood’s new film The Mule, which has been scheduled for release in December of this year. This is Eastwood’s second film this year, following The 15:17 to Paris earlier this year. And he also stars in this one. Eastwood plays a 90-year-old horticulturist and WWII veteran who is surprisingly caught transporting $3 million worth of cocaine through Michigan for a Mexican drug cartel. The full cast includes Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, plus Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio, Loren Dean, and Eugene Cordero. I like the cold opening to this trailer, makes it thrilling right away. This looks quite good, at least the story does. Might be interested in watching this one. ›››

Second Trailer for 'Mary Queen of Scots' Pitting Robbie Against Ronan

    Mary Queen of Scots Trailer

“I may command armies, but tell my cousin I pray for peace.” Focus Features has debuted a second official trailer for Josie Rourke’s Mary Queen of Scots, telling the story of the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. She was Queen of France at 16, then widowed at 18, deciding to return to Scotland without a husband, where she has to carefully compete with her cousin – Queen Elizabeth I of England, ruling over Scotland and England at the time. Saoirse Ronan plays Mary, Margot Robbie plays Elizabeth, with a superb ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, David Tennant, Jack Lowden, Brendan Coyle, Martin Compston, Ismael Cruz Cordova, and James McArdle. The first trailer was a passionate introduction, and this one is even more powerful. This is definitely worth a watch. ›››

  • Wahlberg & Byrne in Another International Trailer for 'Instant Family'

Wahlberg & Byrne in Another International Trailer for 'Instant Family'

    Instant Family Trailer

“Keep in mind folks – it is not going to be easy…” Paramount Pictures UK has released a new international trailer for the upcoming holiday comedy Instant Family, the latest movie by Sean Anders (of Sex Drive, That’s My Boy, Horrible Bosses 2, Daddy’s Home 1 & 2). Instant Family is inspired by the real events from the life of writer/director Sean Anders, telling the story of a couple that find themselves in over their heads when they adopt three children. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, Tig Notaro, Isabela Moner, plus Margo Martindale. This really looks so bad, so bad, and so cliche, and painfully unfunny. I would much rather see a movie where they adopt kittens, not kids, than this crap. But that’s me. ›››

  • First Trailer for Gorgeous Brazilian Animated Film 'Tito and the Birds'

First Trailer for Gorgeous Brazilian Animated Film 'Tito and the Birds'

    Tito and the Birds Trailer

“This is the story of how fear contaminated the world.” Shout Factory has debuted the first official trailer for an animated adventure from Brazil titled Tito and the Birds, also known as Tito e os Pássaros. The film tells the story of a boy who discovers, along with his father, the the cure for fear, an epidemic that is sweeping the world and turning people into rocks. It’s animated by hand in a gorgeous oil painted style that is truly mesmerizing to look at. Even if there isn’t as much detail as usually seen in animation, it’s just so spectacular, I could stare at the frames for hours just admiring them. I caught this film at the Annecy Film Festival this summer and wrote a rave review. It also just played at TIFF and is playing at the Animation Is Film festival next, before hopefully getting a theatrical release later this year. I really, really adore this film. ›››
