Second Trailer for Magic Box Horror Film 'Wish Upon' with Joey King

    Wish Upon Trailer

“There have been others who have had the box. They all died in freak accidents. And now its come to you.” Broad Green Pictures has debuted a second trailer for the upcoming horror thriller Wish Upon, about a magical box a young woman receives that causes more problems than anything. She uses it to make wishes and mess with the people bullying her, but must pay the price when her requests turn into nightmares. This trailer doesn’t show that much more footage which makes me a bit concerned there’s not much to this. Plus it’s so clearly obvious that the blood has been turned black so the MPAA doesn’t complain, which is just frustrating. Joey King (seen in The Conjuring, White House Down) stars, with Sherilyn Fenn, Ryan Phillippe, Elisabeth Röhm, Shannon Purser, Ki Hong Lee, Sydney Park and Alice Lee. See below. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Animated 'Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie'

Official Trailer for Animated 'Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie'

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie Trailer

“You are now the amazing Captain Underpants!!” 20th Century Fox has unveiled an official trailer for the animated Captain Underpants movie, titled in full – Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. This is based on the very popular books by Dav Pilkey about two mischievous kids who hypnotize their mean elementary school principal and turn him into their comic book creation, the kind-hearted and elastic-banded Captain Underpants. Kevin Hart voices George, and Thomas Middleditch voices Harold, with Ed Helms voicing their principal. Also featuring Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal. As fun as this looks in a few scenes, DreamWorks tends to focus too much on the goofy comedy, and not enough on the story or characters. I’m sure it will be good for kids, but this doesn’t seem like the big hit of the summer. ›››

Must Watch: First Full Trailer for Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' Movie

    Justice League Movie

“You said the age of heroes would never come again.” “It has to.” It’s time! Warner Bros has unleashed the first official trailer for DC’s Justice League, featuring tons of action-packed footage of the team of five superheros from the DC Comics world coming together to save the world. This is the first actual trailer aside from the Comic-Con footage last year. Justice League is the continuation of the Batman v Superman series in the DC universe bringing together five super-powered beings: Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. There may be a few others, and the extensive cast includes Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Amber Heard, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Honestly this looks pretty damn cool, just pure entertainment, with a few epic shots at the end. Will it live up to the hype? Only time will tell. ›››

Spring Break Vacation Posting Update – We'll Return Again Next Week

    Athens Sunset

It’s time for a brief pause in the usual excitement. I’m currently on a vacation, taking a spring break holiday for the week. We’ll return to normal next week with regular updates again. Last year I took a life-long-dream trip to Nepal in March and stopped writing anything for the entire month, this time it’s just a week. It’s also my birthday this week, and I’m looking forward to just relaxing and taking my mind off of everything. The big new releases opening on March 24th, this weekend, are CHIPS, the Power Rangers movie, and the sci-fi space thriller Life. We’ll be catching up with any trailers as they arrive, but in the meantime, there’s nothing major going on. Thank you for understanding, and for your continued support. We’ll be back soon. ›››

  • Official Trailer for 'Burden' Documentary About the Artist Chris Burden

Official Trailer for 'Burden' Documentary About the Artist Chris Burden

    Burden Doc Trailer

“I’m not about death, I didn’t want to die, but I wanted to come close.” Magnolia has debuted an official trailer for a documentary titled Burden, telling the story of artist Chris Burden, who made his place in art history in 1971 with dangerous performances. The film features Burden himself, as well as Jonathan Gold, Marina Abramovic, Frank Gehry, Alexis Smith, and Brian Sewell. The description says the doc examines “the artist’s works and private life with an innovative mix of still-potent videos of his 70s performances, personal videos and audio recordings, friends fellow students and colleagues, critics’ comments and latter day footage at his Topanga Canyon studio, all peppered with his thoughts and musings through the years.” This definitely looks fascinating, and I’m intrigued to learn more about Burden and his motivations for this. ›››

  • For the Kids – Second Trailer for Bay's 'Transformers: The Last Knight'

For the Kids – Second Trailer for Bay's 'Transformers: The Last Knight'

    Transformers: The Last Knight Trailer

“You think I’m afraid of you?!” Paramount has launched a new full-length trailer for Michael Bay’s latest Transformers sequel, titled Transformers: The Last Knight. This new trailer is totally focused on the kids in the movie, a cast of youngsters who have to deal with the Decepticons coming back for revenge. Why the focus on the kids? Because this trailer was created exclusively to run in theaters with Beauty and the Beast, of course. The full cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, John Goodman, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Santiago Cabrera, and Liam Garrigan as King Arthur; plus the same voices as before: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker and Ken Watanabe. This is a very odd trailer, I don’t think I like it much, but points for doing something different. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Fox's 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul' Sequel

Second Trailer for Fox's 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul' Sequel

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

“There’s a new hero who dares to be… wimpy.” Fox has debuted the official theatrical trailer for the latest sequel in the comedy series Diary of a Wimpy Kid, this one subtitled The Long Haul, about a family road trip. This is the fourth movie in the cinematic franchise based on the series of books by Jeff Kinney. Young actor Jason Drucker plays Greg, who convinces his family to take a road trip to attend his great grandmother’s 90th birthday as a cover for what he really wants: to attend a nearby gamer convention. The cast includes Jason Ian Drucker, Charlie Wright, Owen Asztalos, Tom Everett Scott, and Alicia Silverstone. Surprisingly, this trailer is better than the teaser trailer but cuts out all the gaming convention footage. This actually looks like it might be an enjoyable road trip comedy, but I’m still not going to watch it. ›››

  • Rebooting 'The Matrix' Furthers Hollywood's Obsession with Nostalgia

Rebooting 'The Matrix' Furthers Hollywood's Obsession with Nostalgia

    The Matrix

Everything old is new again. It was revealed this week that Warner Bros is currently considering rebooting The Matrix and making a new series of movies. Keanu Reeves had hinted at the possibility of returning for a fourth Matrix for some time. However, WB appears to be interested in forging a new path. In a world full of endless remakes, sequels and reinterpretations, a Matrix re-imagining seems wholly unnecessary. So let’s explore why The Matrix needs to be revisited, but not rebooted. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that a film as revered and respected as The Matrix would get a reboot. Even a film as treasured as The Lion King is getting a live-action do-over. So let’s explore why The Matrix needs to be revisited, but not rebooted. ›››

  • Official Trailer for HBO's 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' Movie

Official Trailer for HBO's 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks' Movie

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Trailer

“Science took her cells. Her family reclaimed her story.” HBO has unveiled an official trailer for a film titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, adapted from the book of the same name, telling the story of Henrietta Lacks. Lacks died of cervical cancer in 1951, but her cells were taken without her permission for medical research, and they eventually became the first “immortal” human cells. Renée Elise Goldsberry plays Henrietta. The movie follows two timelines, the second involving her ancestors fighting to reclaim her name in medical history. Oprah Winfrey stars as Lacks’ daughter, with a cast including Rose Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Lisa Arrindell, and Reed Birney. This is technically a “made-for-TV” movie, but we’re making an exception because this is an HBO production, and they’re at the top of their game recently. ›››

  • Meet a Cave Man in First Teaser for Aardman's New Film 'Early Man'

Meet a Cave Man in First Teaser for Aardman's New Film 'Early Man'

    Aardman's Early Man

“You lot are really putting me off!” Huzzah, Aardman is back! It’s time to journey back in time to meet the “Early Man” in this new stop-motion animated adventure from Aardman Animation. Early Man is the latest movie from Aardman, telling the story of how an early cave man and his friend, a wild boar named Hognob, unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game. The voice cast features Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Maisie Williams. I wish this trailer showed some of the story, but it’s still an amusing teaser and fun introduction. I’m looking forward to seeing more footage. ›››
