Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

“Just who in the hell do you think you are?” You know who they are! Marvel has launched an extended, 60-second Super Bowl TV spot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn’s follow-up to the hugely successful Marvel sci-fi superhero movie from 2014. There’s some more great footage in this to top off what we’ve seen in the first trailer, which was already quite awesome. Chris Pratt returns as Star-Lord, with a cast including Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Chris Sullivan, Elizabeth Debicki, Kurt Russell, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Glenn Close, as well as Pom Klementieff; plus Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. This seems like it’s going to be so much fun. ›››

    Life - New Trailer

“Are you recording this?” Sony has launched a new trailer along with the official Super Bowl TV spot for the sci-fi space thriller Life, from director Daniel Espinosa. This is the movie set on a space station where a group of astronauts and scientists end up discovering some kind of “life” after catching a rogue satellite, but it turns malicious quick. The first trailer was surprisingly attention grabbing, and this new TV spot promises some serious space horror scares and screams. The impressive cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal with Ryan Reynolds, Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare, and Olga Dihovichnaya. Sony’s release of Life has also moved up to this March, from May originally. You don’t want to miss this new spot. ›››

New US Trailer for Assayas' 'Personal Shopper' with Kristen Stewart

    Personal Shopper Trailer

“We made this oath: whoever died first would send the other a sign.” IFC Films has debuted another new official US trailer for the indie sorta-horror film from French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, titled Personal Shopper starring Kristen Stewart, which first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year. The film follows a young women who is haunted by a ghost and she communicates with him through text messages (seriously). She works as a “personal shopper” for a famous celebrity, picking up clothes all over Europe for her to wear. The full cast includes Lars Eidinger, Sigrid Bouaziz, Anders Danielsen Lie, Ty Olwin, Hammou Graia, Nora Van Waldstatten & Benjamin Biolay. I’m not a fan of this film, but that’s me. ›››

“When you meet these people, do you say that she was murdered?” A24 has revealed a new trailer for the suspense-horror indie film titled The Blackcoat’s Daughter, from writer/director Oz Perkins, who also made the horror I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House from last year. This originally premiered at multiple film festivals back in 2015, and is just now getting released. Emma Roberts stars, with Kiernan Shipka, plus Lucy Boynton, Lauren Holly, James Remar, Peter J. • Official Trailer for Dramedy 'Punching Henry' Starring Henry Phillips

Official Trailer for Dramedy 'Punching Henry' Starring Henry Phillips

    Punching Henry

“I think I’m failing very well doing what I love.” Well Go USA has debuted a quirky trailer for an indie dramedy titled Punching Henry, a semi-autobiographical look at the life of comedian Henry Phillips. Henry is self-described as a “rambling troubadour extraordinaire” who combines folk music with stand up comedy in an awkward little act. Lured to Los Angeles by a veteran TV producer, Henry ends up making tough decisions about chasing fame and success. The cast includes J.K. Simmons, Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro, Jim Jefferies, Doug Stanhope, and more. This looks like a heartwarming, amusing little gem that hopefully profiles Henry Phillips in the best light, even if he doesn’t achieve success. It’s worth a look. ›››

Bay Unleashes the 'Transformers: The Last Knight' Super Bowl TV Spot

Transformers: The Last Knight Super Bowl TV Spot

“Your world is dying. Do you seek redemption?” “My maker, I do.” Paramount has released early the official 30-second Super Bowl TV spot for Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight, supposedly the final Transformers movie Michael Bay will direct (didn’t he also say that a few movies ago?). This TV spot has new glimpses of epic sci-fi footage and the brutal Bumblebee vs Optimus battle (extended version coming on Sunday). The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, John Goodman, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Santiago Cabrera, and Liam Garrigan as King Arthur; plus the same voices as before: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker and Ken Watanabe. I dig epic sci-fi movies and cool shots like the ones in this, but I have a feeling this is going to be so bad. Check it out. ›››

Must Watch: Meet a Real Life Batman in 'Being Batman' Short Film

    Being Batman Short Film

“It is not an acting class, it is not a character switch, it really is who I am.” Batman fans have to check out this wild short film called Being Batman, about a “real life” Batman vigilante who defends the streets of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. This is almost too crazy to be true, but it really is a short doc about a guy who dresses up as Batman, and pretty much believes he really is Batman – no, seriously. I love the way this short is put together, with voice-over driving the narrative, making it much more thrilling to watch. This would play as a nice double feature with the Batkid documentary. Really, you need to watch this to see for yourself. ›››

First Trailer for 'This Beautiful Fantastic' with Jessica Brown Findlay

    This Beautiful Fantastic Trailer

“There was nothing normal about the girl. She grew into the oddest of odd balls.” Samuel Goldwyn Films has released a trailer for an indie drama titled This Beautiful Fantastic, written and directed by Simon Aboud. Jessica Brown Findlay (seen in Albatross, Winter’s Tale, The Riot Club, Victor Frankenstein) stars as Bella Brown, an awkward, shy young woman who dreams of writing and illustrating a successful children’s book. Described as a “contemporary fairy tale”, she encounters her grumpy next door and works to save a garden most of the time. Also starring Andrew Scott, Tom Wilkinson, Jeremy Irvine, Anna Chancellor & Eileen Davies. This actually looks quite good, it reminds me a bit of Amelie. Have a look. ›››
