First Trailer for Jake Kasdan's 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' Movie

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Trailer

“This is a video game – which means we all have special skills.” Sony Pictures has revealed the first two official trailers (US + international) for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the new big screen take on the Jumanji board game (though in this it’s a video game). This movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan as glorified “avatar” versions of high school kids sucked into this game world. This also stars Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Rhys Darby, Madison Iseman, and Bobby Cannavale. This is made by comedy director Jake Kasdan, and looks much more adventurous and fun than the more thrilling and horrific first Jumanji movie, directed by Joe Johnston in 1995. The video game angle is a bit bland, and the rest of it doesn’t look that good, but I’m still hoping it turns out okay. Your thoughts? ›››

Watch: Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studios Debuts Second Film 'Firebase'

    Firebase Film

Ready for more? Neill Blomkamp’s experimental sci-fi filmmaking collective Oats Studios has premiered their second short film titled Firebase, set during the Vietnam War. This ultra violent action film is kind of a mix between Predator and Apocalypse Now, with some gnarly surprises in store for those brave enough to venture into the jungle. A few weeks ago, we featured the first film Rakka (about lizard-like aliens enslaving humanity). We also posted an extensive interview with Blomkamp discussing his ideas behind Oats Studios and what they’re trying to pull off. So far these two shorts have been awesome, playing with crazy original ideas that no studio would probably greenlight. You can watch the entire film below – and damn is it wicked. ›››

  • Aubrey Plaza in Full Trailer for Instagram Comedy 'Ingrid Goes West'

Aubrey Plaza in Full Trailer for Instagram Comedy 'Ingrid Goes West'

    Ingrid Goes West Trailer

“You are by far the coolest, most interesting person I’ve ever met.” Neon has premiered the new full-length official trailer for the indie dramedy Ingrid Goes West, a cautionary tale about Instagram obsession. This film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to quite a bit of buzz, mostly for the concept, but also for the performances from the two leading ladies – Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen. It’s about an Instagram-addicted nobody (played by Plaza) who decides to move to Los Angeles to stalk another Instagram celebrity in hopes she can have her life, too. The cast includes O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Wyatt Russell. I dug this film, saying in my review it’s a “surprisingly entertaining indie comedy.” This trailer is a good sell – enjoy it. ›››

  • Don't Watch: Charlize Theron in Trailer for Sean Penn's 'The Last Face'

Don't Watch: Charlize Theron in Trailer for Sean Penn's 'The Last Face'

    The Last Face Trailer

“It’s too dangerous to stay here…” I’m going to be very upfront about the truth – The Last Face is one of the worst films I have ever seen. No really, it’s that bad, just awful. Avoid at all costs. The Last Face is a film directed by Sean Penn about the humanitarian crisis in Africa, that is all about white people and their ridiculously not-so-perfect lives. It premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival last year to raucous booing and some of the worst reviews you’ll ever read. Charlize Theron stars along with Javier Bardem, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Jared Harris, Jean Reno, and Denise Newman. Even the performances are terrible. No matter what you may think of this trailer, trust the critics on this one and just stay away. Far, far away. ›››

  • Full Trailer for Los Angeles Riots Film 'Gook' From Director Justin Chon

Full Trailer for Los Angeles Riots Film 'Gook' From Director Justin Chon

    Gook Official Trailer

“Yo, what does that even mean?” Samuel Goldwyn has debuted a full-length official trailer for the film titled Gook, which is a derogatory slang word in America used to describe Asians. This is yet another excellent trailer to follow-up the first one, making me seriously interested in this. The film is directed by Korean American filmmaker/actor Justin Chon, and is about two Korean American kids living in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. It’s set against the backdrop of the infamous L.A. Riots during 1992. Starring Justin Chon and David So, as well as Simone Baker, Curtiss Cook Jr., Sang Chon, Omono Okojie, Ben Munoz, Cesar Garcia, Isaiah Jarel, and Kirlew Vilbon. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year, where it won the Audience Award in the low budget Next section. This is worth a look. Watch below. ›››

  • Trailer for Amat Escalante's Award Winning Sci-Fi Film 'The Untamed'

Trailer for Amat Escalante's Award Winning Sci-Fi Film 'The Untamed'

    The Untamed Trailer

“What’s there in the cabin is our primitive side.” Strand Releasing has debuted an official trailer for a sexual sci-fi horror film titled The Untamed, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year. It won the Silver Lion award for Best Director, and went on to play Toronto, London, Sitges, Fantastic Fest, and more festivals all over the world. The story is about a couple in a troubled marriage who find a meteorite, and a mysterious creature along with it. “Their lives are turned upside down by the discovery of the creature, which is a source of both pleasure and destruction.” Starring Simone Bucio, Kenny Johnston, Jesús Meza, and Ruth Ramos. This looks seriously provocative and trippy, and reminds me a bit of Under the Skin. But the final shot with the weird tentacles makes this look totally nuts. I can’t help but say I’m curious. ›››

They're Back! First Trailer for 'A Bad Mom's Christmas' Comedy Sequel

    A Bad Mom's Christmas Trailer

“Remember when the holidays were actually fun?” STX Entertainment has unveiled the first full trailer for comedy sequel A Bad Mom’s Christmas, from the same writers and directors behind the smash hit Bad Moms just last year. Fast turnaround on this, but why not. The three “bad moms” from the original movie, Milas Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, all return. And this time we get to meet their mothers – played by Cheryl Hines, Christine Baranski and Susan Sarandon. Also starring Jay Hernandez, Peter Gallagher, Justin Hartley, and David Walton. This is a red band trailer mostly for some vulgar language, which is perfect for this. Glad to see them totally embrace the raunchy craziness of these moms. ›››

  • Official UK Trailer for Steven Soderbergh's Heist Comedy 'Logan Lucky'

Official UK Trailer for Steven Soderbergh's Heist Comedy 'Logan Lucky'

    Logan Lucky Movie Trailer

“Some are calling this the ‘Hillbilly Heist.’” Studiocanal in the UK has debuted a new official UK trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s heist comedy, titled Logan Lucky. I think this is a better trailer than the first US one, as it gives us more footage to get deeper into the wacky story of two bumbling brothers who attempt to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in Charlotte, North Carolina. Channing Tatum and Adam Driver star, along with an ensemble cast including Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterson, Dwight Yoakam, Sebastian Stan, Brian Gleeson, Jack Quaid, with Hilary Swank, and introducing Daniel Craig as “Joe Bang”. This looks hilarious, can’t wait to see it. Soderbergh’s back, baby! ›››

First Full Trailer for 'The Greatest Showman' Starring Hugh Jackman

    The Greatest Showman Trailer

“Every one of us is special, and nobody is like any one of us. That’s the point of my show.” 20th Century Fox has debuted the first official trailer for The Greatest Showman, an exciting new musical telling the story of P.T. Barnum, the creator of the vaudeville show known as the circus. This musical will arrive on Christmas this year, and I’m excited to finally see some footage. Hugh Jackman stars as P.T. Barnum, with a huge ensemble cast featuring Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Paul Sparks, and Zendaya. With original songs by the Oscar-winning lyricists of La La Land, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. It looks magnificent, I’m totally in for this! And I love that bit at the end about “show business.” Bring it on. ›››

  • One More Official US Trailer for Animated 'Leap!' About a Ballerina

One More Official US Trailer for Animated 'Leap!' About a Ballerina

    Leap Movie Trailer

“What if she’s good, mother?” The Weinstein Company has revealed a new trailer for animated film Leap!, also known as Ballerina, telling the story of a young ballerina in Paris. The film already opened in theaters in most of Europe, and was scheduled for release in the US in March until TWC pushed it back to August. So this is another reminder that it’s still not out yet, but will (finally) be soon. This is originally from France, but has been redubbed with English voices: Elle Fanning as Félicie Milliner, Dane DeHaan, Maddie Ziegler and Carly Rae Jepsen. The story is about an orphan girl who dreams of being a ballerina. She ends up in Paris where she tries her best to make her dreams come true. I’m tired of waiting for this already. ›››
