Trailer for Super Cheesy Romance 'Midnight Sun' with Bella Thorne

    Midnight Sun Trailer

“I’m not comfortable with him not knowing…” Open Road Films has debuted an official trailer for a cheesy romance titled Midnight Sun, which is actually a remake of a Japanese film of the same name released in 2006 (Taiyô no uta). The story follows a young woman with a rare disease that, if exposed to the sun’s rays, she could potentially die (kind of like a vampire but without any of the need to drink blood). Hollywood took this and turned it into a super sappy romance that reminds me a bit of Everything, Everything, also about a woman with a disease who can’t leave home. Bella Thorne stars, with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Riggle, Quinn Shephard, Ken Tremblett, Jenn Griffin, and Nicholas Coombe. It looks super sweet. ›››

Official Trailer for Chilling Investigative Documentary 'Killing For Love'

    Killing For Love Trailer

“I read all the police reports, and I said ‘this man is innocent…’” IFC Films has revealed a trailer for the documentary titled Killing For Love, originally Das Versprechen (or The Promise) in German, about a controversial 1985 murder trial. The story goes that in 1985, a couple was found brutally murdered inside their home, and the daughter was arrested as the prime suspect. But as the trial played out, her boyfriend, the son of a German diplomat, took the blame out of love and was eventually convicted. This documentary examines that story and what happened, featuring the voices of Daniel Brühl and Imogen Poots as the young lovers. This looks like a fascinating investigatory dive into this case and what might be the real truth. ›››

New Behind-the-Scenes Training Video for 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer

“This is the hardest physical thing I’ve done yet.” Time for a Star Wars training montage! Disney released another behind-the-scenes featurette for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, this one all about the physical training and fight choreography with the actors. It starts out focusing on Daisy Ridley as Rey, but then continues to show footage of Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, and finally Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. At this point, Disney is just giving us more teases and glimpses to keep the hype going until it hits theaters in two weeks. I’ve already got my tickets, I’m already ready to go, hoping nothing I’ve seen so far spoils the in-theater experience. It is exciting to see how much work they put into this movie, all the effort into making it look perfect. And I wish I was friends with this Liang Yang guy. He seems cool. ›››

  • Thora Birch & Chris Klein in First Trailer for Comedy 'The Competition'

Thora Birch & Chris Klein in First Trailer for Comedy 'The Competition'

    The Competition Trailer

“I’m suggesting a little competition…” Gravitas Ventures has debuted the first trailer for Harvey Lowry’s indie comedy The Competition, making fun of relationships and the way things work in this day and age. Thora Birch stars as a woman who becomes the “voice of a generation” by starting a romance blog about how relationships should only last 6 months, at which point you must break up before your mate becomes unfaithful. She is introduced to the perfect guy, played by Chris Klein, but refuses his advances. So they setup a challenge to choose five friends in long relationships and attempt to get them to cheat. It plays out from there, and yadda yadda. The film’s full cast includes Claire Coffee, David Blue, Gabrielle Stone, Jason Tobias, and Tiffany Fallon. Not really my kind of romantic comedy, but check this out if you want. ›››

  • Anya Taylor-Joy & Olivia Cooke in Full Trailer for Indie 'Thoroughbreds'

Anya Taylor-Joy & Olivia Cooke in Full Trailer for Indie 'Thoroughbreds'

    Thoroughbreds Trailer

“You ever think about just killing him?” Focus Features has debuted the full-length official trailer for the indie dark comedy thriller Thoroughbreds, which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The film is one of Anton Yelchin’s other final films, but really stars two young actresses as the leading ladies: Anya Taylor-Joy & Olivia Cooke. These two ladies seem so badass in this. They play two upper-class teen girls in suburban Connecticut who rekindle their unlikely friendship after years of growing apart. When they get together again, they make plans to take out their stepfather – which they both hate. The full cast includes Paul Sparks, Francie Swift, and Kaili Vernoff. This actually looks like some very dark, devious fun, all about how they try to get rid of their stepfather. Definitely worth a look, have fun here. ›››

  • John Waters Reveals His Top 10 Films of 2017 – 'Baby Driver' Takes #1

John Waters Reveals His Top 10 Films of 2017 – 'Baby Driver' Takes #1

    Baby Driver

It’s that time again! With the end of the year approaching, everyone begins revealing their own Top 10 best of the year lists. One of our favorite lists that kicks off this time is from filmmaker John Waters’ – his Top 10 favorite films from this year. For 2017, Waters has chosen yet another (expected) eclectic mix of films, lead by Edgar Wright’s musical action thriller Baby Driver (which is not really an eclectic choice) and ending with the biopic about the Finnish man who introduced kinky leather fashion to the gay world, Tom of Finland (watch the trailer). I always like hearing about Waters’ favorites because he has such unique taste. Plus it’s a good way to start the discussion about everyone’s favorites as we get closer to the end of the year. ›››

Fun for the Whole Family – Official US Trailer for Sequel 'Paddington 2'

    Paddington 2 Trailer

“If we’re kind and polite, the world will be right.” Warner Bros has revealed a new official US trailer for the delightfully charming sequel Paddington 2. This movie has already open in cinemas in the UK and it’s apparently way better than expected, so don’t brush it off. In this movie, Paddington the bear, now happily settled with the Brown family, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present (a book) for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen. The very British cast includes Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Peter Capaldi, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, and Hugh Bonneville, with Ben Whishaw returning as the voice of Paddington, and Imelda Staunton as the voice of Aunt Lucy. I’m actually really looking forward to seeing this, it looks like good holiday fun (for the whole family). ›››

  • First Trailer for Haunted House Horror 'Delirium' from Johnny Martin

First Trailer for Haunted House Horror 'Delirium' from Johnny Martin

    Delirium Trailer

“I didn’t have a good feeling about this…” Gravitas Ventures has debuted the first official trailer for a horror thriller titled Delirium, which first premiered last year but is just getting a release in early 2018. This is actually one of the first feature films made by former stuntman and second unit director Johnny Martin, who later went on to direct Vengeance: A Love Story with Nicolas Cage, and Hangman with Al Pacino, both also released this year (before this film). Delirium is about a group of teens who dare a classmate to reach the porch of a legendary old house, but he never comes back. So they gear up and go in themselves to get him. Starring Mike C. Manning, Griffin Freeman, August Roads, Ryan Pinkston, Seth Austin, and Elena Sanchez. This looks like a very wild, testosterone-filled haunted house horror flick. Tread carefully. ›››
