New Trailer for Indie Romantic Comedy 'All I Wish' with Sharon Stone

    All I Wish Trailer

“Your soulmate is out there – you’ll find him when the time is right.” Paladin has released an official trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled All I Wish, from writer/director Susan Walter. This film also goes by the title A Little Something for Your Birthday, which is why it appears on the poster below. Sharon Stone (who we haven’t seen much of these days) stars an aspiring fashion designer struggling to find success or love, until unexpectedly she meets her match on her birthday. Oh boy. The cast includes Tony Goldwyn, Famke Janssen, Ellen Burstyn, Gilles Marini, Liza Lapira, and Leonor Varela. Yeah this definitely looks as bad as it sounds, don’t even bother unless you really, really, really want to see Sharon Stone again. ›››

    Disobedience Trailer

“We all thought we’d never see you again.” Bleecker Street Films has unveiled the first official trailer for a romantic drama titled Disobedience, the latest film from Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, who also made the Oscar-nominated film A Fantastic Woman last year. This first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and will hit limited theaters this April. Disobedience stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams as forbidden Jewish lovers. Weisz plays Ronit, an Orthodox Jew who goes home to London, where she meets with a childhood friend and rediscovers her feelings for her. The cast includes Alessandro Nivola, Anton Lesser, Nicholas Woodeson, Cara Horgan, and Allan Corduner. This looks like it might be splendid. ›››

  • Official Full-Length Trailer for Murder Mystery Comedy 'Game Night'

Official Full-Length Trailer for Murder Mystery Comedy 'Game Night'

    Game Night Trailer

“Tonight, we’re taking Game Night up a notch.” Warner Bros has released a new full-length trailer for the comedy Game Night, the murder mystery horror (maybe?) comedy movie which opens at the end of this month. This comedy puts a spin on the popular “game night” concept and turns it into a crazy wacky, violent thriller. When a group of friends who meet regularly for game nights discover that the murder mystery game they’re playing this time is actually for real, everyone starts to freak out but soon realizes the only way to win is to keep playing. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as the main hosts, along with Billy Magnussen, Sharon Horgan, Lamorne Morris, Kylie Bunbury, Jesse Plemons, Danny Huston, with Michael C. Hall and Kyle Chandler. This looks totally over-the-top absurd, possibly in a good way, but I can’t exactly tell from this new trailer. There’s so much going on in this. Might be fun? Join in below. ›››

    Edifice Short Film

“A complex system of beliefs.” We’re taking a brief step outside of our comfort zone to share this fascinating, mesmerizing short film titled Edifice, made by designer / filmmaker / visual artist Ash Thorp (follow him @ashthorp). This experimental short features stunning imagery designed to consider existential questions about “who we are, where we come from, and where we are heading.” It’s only seven minutes and features no dialogue, only visuals. The concept is to present visually a “journey from stardust to singularity.” Most of the short films we share contain some sort of narrative or plot device, but this one is all about the concept, evoking profound existential & philosophical thoughts through an entrancing visual experience. Sundance 2018: Alex's 8 Favorite Films – The Best of This Year's Festival

    2018 Sundance Film Festival

The 2018 Sundance Film Festival has finally come to an end and to put a wrap on the fest and finalize our nearly two weeks of coverage, it’s time to present our Best of the Fest list. I was able to see a total of 42 films across 10 days, but I couldn’t catch everything and missed a few films getting lots of buzz (Burden, Madeline’s Madeline, Never Going Back, Monster, Yardie). I saw a total of 10 documentaries, so instead of separating docs and features this year, I decided to present one big list of my 8 favorite films (in honor of it being 2018). There was no Call Me By Your Name this year (that one stayed my #1 the entire year), but I enjoyed so many other wonderful films and I’m happy I could see so many at the festival. Let’s get into this. ›››

  • Antonio Banderas as Maestro in Official 'The Music of Silence' Trailer

Antonio Banderas as Maestro in Official 'The Music of Silence' Trailer

    The Music of Silence Trailer

“Love is the wonderful symphony of every beating heart. It is the divine music that whispers to us…” Ambi Distribution has released a new official US trailer for an Italian biopic film titled The Music of Silence, from filmmaker Michael Radford. The film tells the story of an Italian musician named Andrea Bocelli, who went blind when he was a child. Years later he became one of the most famous musicians, but not without trials and tribulations, of course. Toby Sebastian plays Bocelli, and the cast includes Antonio Banderas, Jordi Mollà, Alessandro Sperduti, Luisa Ranieri, and Antonella Attili; with a special appearance by the real Andrea Bocelli. This looks like a very Italian film, with lots of opera singing and beautiful scenes in the countryside. The cinematography here is particularly impressive, I just hope the rest of it is that good. ›››

Zachary Quinto, Jon Hamm, Jenny Slate in First Trailer for 'Aardvark'

    Aardvark Trailer

“Josh is a pretty disturbed individual…” Great Point Media has debuted a trailer for an awkward indie film titled Aardvark, from writer/director Brian Shoaf. This premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year and like most Tribeca films, no one will ever see it. Jenny Slate stars as a therapist, Emily, who falls for the brother of a patient who may or may not be suffering from schizophrenia. Zachary Quinto co-stars as her patient, Josh, and his brother is played by the alluring Jon Hamm, which is such on-the-nose casting it actually seems weird. The full cast includes Sheila Vand, Tonya Pinkins, Dale Soules, Peter Grosz, and Marin Ireland. This really does not look very good, but you can check it out if you’re curious anyway. ›››

Official Trailer for Abbas Kiarostami's Mesmerizing Film '24 Frames'

    24 Frames Trailer

“Kiarostami represents the highest level of artistry in the cinema.” Janus Films has unveiled the trailer for an experimental film titled 24 Frames, the last full-length feature project from the late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, who passed away in 2016. This first premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, and played at numerous other film festivals including London, Vienna, Busan, and Vancouver. 24 Frames is an experimental project made by filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami in the last three years of his life. It is a collection of 24 short four-and-a-half minutes films inspired by still images, including paintings and photographs. He shares a photo, then animates it in various ways, with birds or waves or animals or rustling trees. It’s a very poetic, mesmerizing film and may connect more to those who are patient enough to appreciate the elegance. ›››

  • William Fichtner in Official Trailer for Domestic Thriller 'The Neighbor'

William Fichtner in Official Trailer for Domestic Thriller 'The Neighbor'

    The Neighbor Trailer

“What were you doing in my house?” “I heard a scream.” Vertical Entertainment has debuted the official trailer for a low-key thriller titled The Neighbor, from director Aaron Harvey. The indie drama stars the very talented character actor William Fichtner (last seen in 12 Strong, Elysium, The Lone Ranger, Drive Angry, The Dark Knight) as a reserved man stuck in a stagnant marriage whose life is upended when an attractive young woman and her husband move in to the home next door to them. The cast includes Jessica McNamee, Jean Louisa Kelly, Michael Rosenbaum, Colin Woodell, and Erich Anderson. I can’t tell if there’s a big twist in this, but it seems like a solidly engaging friendly-neighbor thriller. Check it out. ›››
