This isn’t the first time a Microsoft higher-up has spoken positively about Nintendo, the competition. Following the Switch’s unveiling in October, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said, “I’m always impressed with their ability to state a bold vision and build a product that delivers on that vision.”

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console that you can play at home or on the go. The system launches on March 3, priced at $300. We learned during the event last night that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a launch title, while a new Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey, is coming out this holiday.

  • Nintendo Stock Price Drops After Latest Switch News

Nintendo Stock Price Drops After Latest Switch News

Nintendo made a lot of big announcements about its new console, the Switch, last night. The company announced the console’s price and release date, confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a launch title, and revealed a new Mario game, among many other things.

Not everyone is enthusiastic about all the news, however, it seems. Nintendo’s stock price is down 5.75 percent today on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It closed at ¥23,750 today in Japan, the lowest since December 22 (¥23,595). Nintendo’s share price took a more dramatic dive after the initial Switch reveal in October 2016; share value also dropped following the launch of Super Mario Run.

The latest drop in share price could be attributed to a number of things. Dr. Serkan Toto, an analyst in Asia, said after the initial Switch reveal that he was skeptical about its ability to reach a wide audience.

“Sorry, but is a portable/home console approach really that innovative in 2016? I am most concerned about the target group of the device: who else but die-hard Nintendo fans will buy the Switch?” he said at the time.

Earlier this week, the Game Developers Conference released its newest State of the Industry report. 50 percent of surveyed developers said they thought the Switch would sell better than the Wii U, but not everyone agreed that the hybrid concept would be all that appealing. Additionally, just three percent of those surveyed said they were currently working on a game for the Switch.

The Switch launches on March 3, priced at $300. For lots more, check out GameSpot’s roundup of all the big news from last night’s announcement event here; a second livestream event, focused on games, will be held today, January 13, beginning at 6:30 AM PT / 9:30 AM PT.

  • Ultra Street Fighter 2 Announced for Switch, Has New Characters and Mode

Ultra Street Fighter 2 Announced for Switch, Has New Characters and Mode

Capcom is releasing a new version of Street Fighter 2 for Nintendo Switch called Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers. It features a new mode and characters, along with the updated art used in 2008’s Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix.

The two new characters are Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. The latter of the two first appeared in crossover fighting game SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.

“For the first time in nearly 20 years, since Super Street Fighter 2, two new characters join the fight; Evil Ryu and Violent Ken,” Capcom said on its website. “This version of Ryu has succumbed to the Satsui no Hado and is now obsessed with fighting in order to prove he is the strongest. His former honorable self has been purged, allowing him to enjoy absolute power and embrace an unquenchable bloodthirst for battle.

“Violent Ken is the result of M. Bison kidnapping and brainwashing Ken, enhancing his abilities with Psycho Power and twisting his brotherly rivalry with Ryu into hatred. Violent Ken is more ruthless, aggressive, and fearless with moves that feature purple flames instead of his signature fire.”

In addition to the classic arcade mode, players will be able to team up in 2v1 fights, similar to the Dramatic Battle mode from Street Fighter Alpha series.

For those that want the classic Street Fighter 2 visual style, Ultra Street Fighter 2 will allow players to choose between pixel-art graphics or HD graphics created by UDON Entertainment.

“Nintendo Switch TV, Tabletop, and Handheld modes allow you to play Ultra Street Fighter 2 at home or on-the-go with brand new single-player and multiplayer modes,” Capcom continued. “More information and details on these modes, along with confirmed pricing and release timing, will be shared at a later date.”

Nintendo is scheduled to host a livestream on January 13 at 6:30 AM PT / 9:30 AM ET discussing the Switch’s upcoming games. Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono will be appearing to talk about Ultra Street Fighter 2.

  • See Game of Thrones Star in First Trailer for Cool-Looking Superhero Movie

The first trailer for the Netflix movie iBoy has arrived–and it looks pretty cool.

The story focuses on a teenage boy (Bill Milner), who gets in a fight after trying to stop thugs from assaulting his friend Lucy (Maisie Williams). Somehow, pieces of his smartphone get embedded in his brain during the fight and, after waking up from a coma, he finds that he has superpowers. These include the ability to read minds (sort of) and access information like where to kick someone to inflict the most damage. The premise is, “What if your reality got an upgrade?”

The boy uses these powers to get revenge on the gang that attacked Lucy. She appears to be some kind of high-value target (for reasons unknown) and there is a bad guy played by James Bond series actor Rory Kinnear who is out to find her.

iBoy comes to Netflix on January 27. It is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Kevin Brooks.

Williams will also be seen in the seventh season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which premieres this year.
