  • No Plans For Conan Exiles On Nintendo Switch

Conan Exiles, the new sandbox action game from Funcom, is unlikely to get a Nintendo Switch version, it seems. Game director Joel Bylos told DualShockers that the studio currently has no plans to bring Conan Exiles to Nintendo Switch and has had no conversations with Nintendo.

Also in the interview, Bylos confirmed that Conan Exiles is already running on Xbox One internally. The game “looks pretty good,” DualShockers reported, though Bylos apparently said the control system still needs work.

An in-development version of Conan Exiles is due out for Xbox One through the console’s Game Preview system later this year. The game is already available on PC through Steam Early Access; it sold 320,000 copies in just one week after it was released earlier this year.

Conan Exiles is also coming to PlayStation 4, but a release date for Sony’s system has not been announced.

Awesome Art Picks: X-Men, Chun-Li, Deadpool, and More

Each week we search and gather up the coolest comic book art you won’t see in actual comics. The reason you won’t is because professional artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out. This is a way to see the artists working on one book draw characters from other comics or publishers.

  • Watch This Final Fantasy XV GDC Panel About Photography

Auto-selfies in Final Fantasy XV were one of the game’s more memorable features. Whether party member Prompto completely messed up a shot or took a pic suitable for framing, it was always entertaining sorting through his pics when the party took a camping break. The video below features an in-depth talk at GDC 2017, where FFXV party AI lead designer Prasert Prasertvithyakarn spoke at length about the game’s photography system.

By 2016, selfies were not uncommon in games since you can trace its use at least as far back as The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Grand Theft Auto V. Final Fantasy XV and this talk illustrates that there’s still a lot of room for evolution.

  • Rogue One Star Mads Mikkelsen Walked Out Of Fantastic Four Audition

Rogue One Star Mads Mikkelsen Walked Out Of Fantastic Four Audition

Even major Hollywood actors have to audition for movies, and it doesn’t always go well. Rogue One and Doctor Strange star Mads Mikkelsen has revealed that he walked out of the audition for 2015’s superhero flop Fantastic Four.

“I think I walked out on Fantastic Four,” Mikkelsen told Shortlist. “I think I actually said, ‘I can’t do it. It’s not about you, I’m sorry, this is wrong.’”

    No Caption Provided

Mikkelsen went on to talk about the often bizarre and disheartening experience of auditioning for movies and TV. “I’ve had tons of them,” he said. “We’ve all been there. We all show up and it’s a little office room with a desk and some books and they want you to do a scene where you have two lines–maybe not even two lines–maybe just ‘Bleurgh!’ or ‘Get back!’

“And you’re hiding behind a palm tree that’s not there. It’s like, “Guys, couldn’t you have picked a different kind of scene to this? This is f***ing mad.’ You feel like an idiot.”

While Mikkelsen didn’t state which role in Fantastic Four he was auditioning for, an interview earlier this year suggests that it was to play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. TV3 stated that “after being asked in the casting office to pretend to extend his arms like a rubber man, he was so embarrassed that he thought, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’”

Fantastic Four hit theaters in August 2015. It only grossed $167 million worldwide, and Fox’s plans for a sequel were quickly abandoned. Nevertheless, producer Simon Kinberg recently spoke about his hopes that another movie will happen.

“I think the truth is we would not make another Fantastic Four movie until it was ready to be made,” Kinberg told Collider. “One of the lessons we learned on that movie is that we want to make sure we get it 100 percent right, because we will not get another chance with the fans.”

  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Documentary Planned Through Indiegogo

No series captured the pre-millennial gaming zeitgeist quite like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. 18 years and 30 million Tony Hawk game sales later, an enterprising filmmaker is looking to tell the story of Tony Hawk’s involvement in video games.

Along with accounts from Tony Hawk himself, this film will also feature developers and skaters who helped create everything from the first Pro Skater to the most recent fifth installment and the many games in between.

Titled Pretending I’m A Superman, this documentary is being produced by Ralph D’Amato, who was also a producer on Tony Hawk’s earlier games. His personal experience and inside line to the many others involved with the franchise should add considerable credibility to this project, which you can learn more about here.

  • No Mass Effect: Andromeda Animation Improvements Coming On Day One, Despite Fan Criticism

Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s day one patch will not include any animation or character model improvements, despite widespread fan criticism of the way characters look and move.

Andromeda’s lead designer, Ian Frazier, responded to a Tweet asking if the day one update will improve the character models by saying, “At day 1? No, that ship has sailed.”

The deadline for enhancements included in that patch has already passed it seems, as the update is included in the now-playable EA and Origin Access early trials. The game releases in full on March 21 (March 23 in Europe).

@JohnCharling At day 1? No, that ship has sailed. We’ll have more patches later on, but exactly what goes into them is still in discussion.

    — Ian Soon Frazier (@tibermoon) March 16, 2017

Frazier went on to confirm that there will be “more patches later on,” but he said “exactly what goes into them is still in discussion.”

Since the game went live for EA and Origin Access Members on March 15, reaction has been mixed when it comes to the game’s animations and facial models in particular. The game’s Subreddit, for example, has multiple posts from fans disappointed by those aspects of Andromeda.

Meanwhile, Frazier also confirmed that developer BioWare is looking to add new skin tones to the game’s character creation mode in a new patch. He went on to multiplayer sound issues are “under investigation.” BioWare is encouraging players experiencing any further problems to report them on EA’s troubleshooting page.

In other Andromeda news, BioWare has announced a new companion app for the game’s multiplayer mode. Called Apex HQ, it will track your progression in the mode, displaying information like which characters you’ve unlocked and what items and rewards you’ve collected.

We’ve played Andromeda’s multiplayer–check out what we thought here. Or for more on the upcoming sci-fi adventure, keep an eye out for our Story of Mass Effect documentary series. Episode 1 will drop on Satuday, March 16, with Episode 2 to follow a day later. Take a look at a teaser for the minidoc here.

  • DC Wants To Make Another Film This Year–But We Don't Know What It Will Be

DC Wants To Make Another Film This Year–But We Don't Know What It Will Be

With the news that The Batman won’t start production until next year–and with The Flash currently without a director–DC only has Aquaman shooting in 2017. However, it has been reported that the studio is still hoping to get another film in front of the cameras this year.

    No Caption Provided

Variety writer Justin Kroll revealed the news on Twitter. He stated:

With BATMAN likely shooting in 2018, WB still would like one more DC property to shoot this year other than AQUAMAN

    — Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) March 16, 2017

It is unclear which DC property would go into production in 2017. There are several contenders–Suicide Squad director David Ayer is set to reunite with Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie for Gotham City Sirens for example. There is also a Green Lantern Corps movie in the works, and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is attached to Dark Universe, an adaptation of the Justice League Dark comics.

In addition, Suicide Squad 2 is expected at some point, and The Flash remains a possibility for a 2017 shoot. However, the movie lost two directors within a few months of each other last year, and in January it was reported that it is being completely rewritten.

Aquaman is the only DC movie with a confirmed release date beyond 2017, and even this recently moved back two months. It is now coming out on December 21, 2018. This week, director James Wan posted images of the exotic locations he is scouting for the shoot–check them out here.
