  • Watch The First Marvel Black Panther Trailer

The Black Panther trailer has been released, and you should just watch it in the video embed above. Go ahead, we’ll still be here when you’re done.

The next big Marvel adventure isn’t coming out until next year, but this first trailer gives us a look at the overall direction the film will take. Last year, Boseman suggested that the movie will adopt a different tone to many of the other movies in the Marvel universe. “For me, most of the time the darker superhero movies are the ones that I gravitate towards, that I love the most,” he said. “I’m glad that the tone of [Black Panther] may be a little grittier.”

“I just wanted to establish that from the beginning, that that’s what we were doing,” he continued, referring to the character’s first appearance in this year’s Captain America: Civil War. “That that’s what I intend to do. I feel like we’ll end up in a place that I’ve always wanted to be when I look at superhero movies. Those are the ones I like the most. It’s exciting to do that.”

The trailer follows the movie’s poster, which was released earlier today. The movie is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed). Chadwick Boseman plays the lead role, and cast also includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018.

  • Capcom Files Trademark For “Monster Hunter: World”

Capcom grabbed headlines when it announced Monster Hunter XX exclusively for Nintendo Switch last month, and it’s also working on a Western version of Monster Hunter Stories. However, these may not be the only Monster Hunter projects in the pipeline: Capcom recently filed a trademark for “Monster Hunter: World.”

The trademark application was submitted on June 5, and Capcom will likely have to wait a while for it to be accepted. The US Patent and Trademark Office database gives only a few hints at what this might be: it is tagged as “video game software,” “downloadable game program for playing on mobile phones and smart phones,” “downloadable screen saver software and wallpaper software for mobile phones and smart phones,” among others.

As always, early trademark filings like this have to be taken in context. Many trademarks are attached to products that never come to fruition; Capcom could simply be covering its bases and registering a bunch of titles related to the Monster Hunter series.

However, if I were to speculate, I would hazard a guess that Monster Hunter World is some sort of online and mobile hub for the series–perhaps a tie-in to the franchise, something like Deus Ex Universe. There is, of course, no concrete evidence to support this theory, and plenty of fans online think that it’s Monster Hunter 5 or a PS4-exclusive installment in the series.

In any case, keep an eye on GameSpot for more Capcom news, especially as we head into next week when E3 2017 takes place.

  • Nvidia Releases New Graphics Driver For Dirt 4 And Nex Machina, Here's What It Does

The latest Nvidia graphics driver is now available for download, version 382.53 WHQL. It gives users of GeForce video cards optimal performance in the new rally racer Dirt 4 and isometric shooter Nex Machina. There are also multi-GPU SLI profiles for Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

On top of the optimizations are a few fixes to lingering issues from past Nvidia drivers. Among those resolved are the following:

    • DirectX 11 games: On some titles, in-game V-Sync does not work if Fast Sync is selected from the Nvidia Control Panel. Consequently, the game frame rate is not locked to the maximum refresh rate, resulting in possible tearing.
    • Aerofly RC 7: Corruption occurs in the game when shadows are enabled.
    • OpenGL and Tombstone Engine: Driver update causes corruption in Tombstone engine games.
    • SLI: The secondary display remains blank after switching from Clone or Extended mode to secondary-only display mode.

As always, there are a handful of specific issues Nvidia is aware of–some that carried over from previous versions–which are listed below:

    • Firefox: Browser errors may occur or the browser may crash with Nvidia drivers.
    • Kepler GPUs and SteamVR: The compositor fails when starting up.
    • GeForce GTX 1070: Games (Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, For Honor) do not recognize the custom refresh rates set using the Nvidia Control Panel.
    • GeForce GTX 1080 and Battlefield 1 XP1: With SLI enabled, corruption appears in the game when switching between full-screen and windowed mode.
    • GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and Mass Effect: Andromeda: Random memory errors may occur when playing the game.
    • GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI with G-Sync/SLI/DirectX 12: Black corruption appears while entering the in-game menu after skipping the cutscene.
    • GeForce GTX 970M and The Division Survival DLC: Game crashes, pointing to ntdll.dll when changed to fullscreen and to windowed fullscreen.
    • GeForce GTX 970M and ShadowPlay with For Honor: The game silently may crash if the intro video is skipped while instant replay is on.
    • GeForce GTX 970M SLI and Gears of War 4: Level loading may hang.
    • GeForce Experience: Driver installation may fail when attempting to perform a driver overinstall. To work around this, perform a clean installation.

You can read the full release notes for version 382.53 of the graphics driver and download it on Nvidia’s official website. • Xbox E3 2017 Press Conference Runs Longer Than Usual

This year’s Xbox E3 press conference will run longer than usual. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has revealed on Twitter that the show will be more than 90 minutes in length. According to him, this is to make room for all of the games that the company hoped to showcase, though it’s unclear exactly how much of the show will be dedicated to games and not hardware.

“Had some games that just didn’t want to leave out to hit the time, so made a call to just run a little long,” Spencer said. He didn’t indicate if these games were exclusives or what portion of these presentations would be dedicated to Scorpio.

Xbox briefing Sunday will likely run longer than our traditional 90 mins. For those recording just a heads up. #XboxE3

    — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) June 8, 2017

Microsoft is expected to officially announce the name, price, and release date for Project Scorpio during the briefing. In addition to that, there will of course be game announcements and demos.

Meanwhile, Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra is traveling to Los Angeles for E3 and he tweeted a picture of the Xbox Scorpio chip he’s apparently carrying with him.

    — Mike Ybarra (@XboxQwik) June 8, 2017

The length of this year’s event isn’t the only thing that’s new for Microsoft, as the show is now taking place on the Sunday before E3 week instead of Monday. The event kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, and we now know it will run until after 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET.

    — EAStarWars (@EAStarWars) June 9, 2017

Battlefront II launches on November 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. People who buy the $80 Elite Trooper Deluxe edition or subscribe to EA/Origin Access can play early. Additionally, EA announced a multiplayer beta today coming this fall, and people who pre-order will get in first.

Unlike 2015’s Battlefront, which shipped 14 million copies, the sequel will have a single-player campaign–John Boyega should be happy. The campaign is being worked on by Motive Studios, while DICE is again handling the multiplayer.

Upcoming Turtle Beach Headsets First To Connect Directly To Xbox, Also Available For PS4

Turtle Beach announced two new headsets today that are geared towards console gamers: the Stealth 700 and Stealth 600. Turtle Beach touts virtual surround sound as one of the key features of these headsets. The Stealth 700 offers DTS Heaphone:X technology for virtual 7.1 on PS4 and the Stealth 600 uses proprietary surround tech from Turtle Beach for both systems. All models are equipped with 50 mm audio drivers and incorporate exclusive “Superhuman Hearing” technology that is supposed to emphasize minor in-game audio cues like footsteps. Each headset is also said to fit comfortably for users who wear glasses. Battery life is projected to last between 10 to 15 hours on a full charge.

A few differences set the two headsets apart. The Stealth 700’s ear cups feature a synthetic leather upholstery while the Stealth 600 uses a breathable mesh. Bluetooth connectivity and active noise cancelling are also exclusive to the Stealth 700’s. The Turtle Beach audio app will also allow 700 users to tweak equalization settings and set dynamic chat volume to match in-game volume.

The Stealth 700 and Stealth 600 headsets will cost $150 USD and $100 USD, respectively. Turtle Beach is taking pre-orders on its site today and all SKUs are set to release sometime in September this year.

  • Tekken 7 Update Out Now, Here's What It Does

Bandai Namco has released a patch for the PS4 version of Tekken 7, which addresses some issues with the game’s online matchmaking functionality.

Specifically, the patch improves stability and establishes connections with other online players “more consistently.” Following the update, the game will no longer share a player’s character, title, rank, and wins before a match.

Additionally, the patch makes some changes to the game’s voice chat, allowing players to toggle it on or off from the Option menu. Voice chat is now set to off by default.

Bandai Namco says it will make additional improvements to the game “in the coming days.” The developer will release a similar patch for the Xbox One and PC versions “during the week of June 12,” which likewise will address online stability and fix other assorted bugs. You can learn more about the patch on the Tekken website.

  • Free Copies Of Payday 2 For Steam Available For A Limited Time

With an Ultimate Edition of Payday 2 on the way, DLC is disappearing from online stores as individual purchases. Alongside this move, developer Overkill is giving away the base game itself for free on PC, but only for a limited time.

As of today, you can claim a copy of Payday 2 through Steam. This is a permanent copy of the game–it isn’t something you’ll only have access to for a limited time. However, only a total of 5 million copies are being offered, so you’ll need to add it to your Steam library before they’re all gone. This will also entitle you to a copy of the recently announced Payday VR, which will be given for free upon release to anyone who owns Payday 2.

As noted above, this copy won’t allow you to download the many DLC packs that have been released over the years. That’s because these are no longer up for sale as Overkill prepares to launch Payday 2: Ultimate Edition on PC. This packages the base game with all of the DLC released to date. Future updates released for the game will be free.

We recently learned that a team of ex-Payday developers, now working at the studio 10 Chambers Collective, are working on a “four-player hardcore co-op action horror FPS.” It carries the memorable name GTFO.
