Disney has debuted a final international (UK) trailer for the animated sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, to top off the third trailer we posted a few weeks ago. John C. Reilly returns as the voice of Ralph, the “bad guy” who is really a good guy, from the first Wreck-It Ralph movie released in 2012. This time he follows Vanellope, voiced again by Sarah Silverman, into the internet and there they meet the “netizens”, getting in all kinds of trouble looking for a part they need to repair Vanellope’s game in the arcade. The voice cast also features Taraji P. Henson, Kelly Macdonald, Kristen Bell, Mandy Moore, Alan Tudyk, Jane Lynch, Idina Menzel, Jack McBrayer, Jodi Benson, as well as Gal Gadot (who doesn’t get any time in this trailer). I’m already completely sold on this movie, it’s looking like another stand out sequel this year. ›››

“Yeah – certain death is so much fun!” Vertigo Releasing in the UK has revealed a brand new, official UK trailer for the horror comedy Anna and the Apocalypse, which is really an enjoyable zombie Christmas musical. This trailer is much better than the US one, capturing the crazy fun aspects of this movie. A girl and her friends must fight – and sing – their way through a zombie invasion to reach the supposed safety of their school, not knowing if their parents and friends are still alive. There’s a bunch of original songs in this, a few you can hear in this trailer. Starring Ella Hunt as Anna, along with Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux, Ben Wiggins, Marli Siu, and Mark Benton. I first saw this at the Sitges Film Festival last year and wrote a great review. If you love musicals, if you love zombies, you have to catch this. ›››

The film tells the story of a sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. “No one is better suited than Kurt Russell to bring our version of a rugged, charismatic, and hilarious Santa Claus to life,” director Clay Kaytis explains. The full cast includes Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Oliver Hudson, Judah Lewis, Lamorne Morris, Martin Roach, Darby Camp, and Lauren Collins. “It was a myth… Kids used to dare each other to go into the woods at night.” Paramount has unveiled the first trailer for their new take on Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, which was already adapted once before in 1989. This new adaptation sticks close to the story in the book, about a family that moves to a rural home where they discover a “Pet Sematary” nearby. After the family cat is killed, they bury it in the Pet Sematary and then very weird things start to happen. Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz star, with John Lithgow, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, and Obssa Ahmed. I’m actually curious about this film. It doesn’t need to be remade, but maybe it will turn out good. And from this first look, it seems there is some promise for this fresh take on the freaky small town horror story. “Maybe… just maybe… I can change my fate.” Netflix has unleashed a badass official trailer for The Night Comes For Us, the new action film from Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto (of Macabre, Killers, Headshot, May the Devil Take You, “Safe Haven” in V/H/S/2). This action extravaganza has been playing huge at genre festivals and it’s been earning rave reviews from everyone who has experienced it so far. The film is about a gangland enforcer named Ito, played by Joe Taslim, who decides to return home and leave the Tried but ends up in the most dangerous fight of his life. Co-starring Iko Uwais from The Raid, plus Julie Estelle, Sunny Pang, Zack Lee, Shareefa Daanish. I just saw this in Sitges and it’s awesome – the most insane, violent, jaw-dropping action film I’ve seen in a long time. Not much I’ve seen is this good. ›››

This oddly premiered as a VR Experience, a feature film presented entirely as a VR feature, and it won the top award at a film festival earlier this year. John Travolta stars in this action-packed true story of an ‘80s speedboat champion and multimillionaire caught between the mob and the law. The impressive full cast includes Katheryn Winnick, Matthew Modine, James Remar, Kellan Lutz, Jennifer Esposito, Tom Sizemore, Jordi Molla, Michael Weston, Moran Atias, and Amaury Nolasco. By now we all know that Travolta isn’t really making any good films anymore, and this looks to be staying true to that. I’m glad they’re not trying to still push the VR experience. ›››

The film presents a fascinating new look into the genius of The Little Prince, published as Le Petit Prince, as well as the life and experiences of French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who first published the book in 1943. The film features appearances by Rupi Kaur, Mark Osborne, Adam Gopnik, Stacy Schiff, Éric Emmanuel Schmitt, Olivier d’Agay, and François d’Agay. Wild Bunch has debuted the first brief, international teaser trailer for High Life, the latest from acclaimed French director Claire Denis (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum, White Material, Bastards). This low budget sci-fi drama premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and it’s playing at the New York Film Festival as well. The story is about a man, played by Robert Pattinson, stuck on a spaceship heading to a distant star. He tries to interact with the rest of the crew who are slowly going crazy on the extended voyage. It’s hard to describe this any better than that, and it’s a hard film to figure out. Reactions from the festivals have been divisive, with extreme love and hate for this film. The cast includes Juliette Binoche, André Benjamin, Mia Goth, Lars Eidinger, Agata Buzek, and Claire Tran. This is a very short teaser that doesn’t show much, but at least it’s something as we wait for more marketing and anticipation for this indie sci-fi feature. ›››
