Trey Songz in First Full Trailer for Gritty Crime Drama 'Blood Brother'

    Blood Brother Trailer

“On these streets, all you have is the guy next to you.” Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an indie crime action-drama titled Blood Brother, the latest film from writer/director John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal and The Quiet Ones). Not to be confused with the award-winning documentary from a few years ago also titled Blood Brother, this film is about an ex-con who takes murderous revenge against childhood friends whom he believes let him take the fall for a crime they committed together. One of the friends, now a cop, risks his life to stop him. Blood Brother stars music artist Trey Songz, along with Jack Kesy, China Anne McClain, Hassan Johnson, Tanee McCall, and Fetty Wap. These kind of crime+action+friends movies are becoming a dime a dozen nowadays, and none of them really seem they’re worth anyone’s time. ›››

    The Rizzle Short Film

“Try The Rizzle if you dare…” Hulu has launched a fun new competition called the Huluween Film Fest, featuring 8 horror shorts made by up-and-coming filmmakers. One of those shorts is this one – The Rizzle, made by Australian filmmaker Josh Tanner. The film is about a young woman who loves the roaring 20s. One night while watching videos on YouTube, she comes across a video for the dance routine called “The Rizzle” that she’s never seen before. Starring Holly Rooth and Steven Bishop. Now that we’re in October again, we’re featuring new horror short films to get everyone, and keep everyone, in the horror movie mood throughout this month. Clara's Ghost Trailer

“Stop making fun of me!” Orion Classics has released the first official trailer for an indie horror comedy of sorts titled Clara’s Ghost, which initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. I kept hearing some good things about this but haven’t had a chance to catch up with it yet. Set over the course of a single evening in the Reynolds family home in suburban Connecticut, Clara’s Ghost tells the story of Clara Reynolds who, fed up with her self-absorbed showbiz family, finds some solace in and guidance from the supernatural force that she believes is haunting her. The film stars Abby Elliott, Bridey Elliott, Chris Elliott, Isidora Goreshter, Haley Joel Osment, and introducing Paula Niedert Elliott as Clara. This actually looks pretty damn good, something a bit different with all kinds of crazy things going on. See below. ›››

Back in the Horror Groove – Jumping Into the 51st Sitges Film Festival

    Sitges Film Festival

After attending for my first time last year and enjoying every minute of the fest, I’m back in the town of Sitges, Spain (or Catalonia) to kick off the 51st Sitges Film Festival. It’s the Spanish cousin of the Alamo Drafthouse’s Fantastic Fest with all kinds of genre films playing over the next 10 days. Lots of horror and sci-fi and action and more. I’m really excited to be here. I’m really excited to see a bunch of these films. It’s just an excellent film festival, right on the beach, with enthusiastic audiences that love genre films. And this year I decided to stick around the entire time (and not head up to the London Film Festival like last year) so I can fit in more films and enjoy this charming little beach town. Plus it’s October – the perfect time to watch horror movies and discover something new and wild and amazing in the mix. Time to jump right into Sitges. ›››

Review: Bradley Cooper's 'A Star is Born' is Soulful Artistic Expression

    A Star is Born Review

Co-written and directed by actor Bradley Cooper, 2018’s A Star is Born is the third remake of William A. Wellman’s 1937 film, which earned seven Academy Award nominations at the time. George Cukor’s 1954 adaptation, starring Judy Garland and James Mason, was nominated for six. And the 1976 version, starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, earned four. Between the three films, only two Oscars were won: Best Writing (Original Story) in 1938 and Best Original Song in 1977. As producer, director, screenwriter, and star, Cooper is following in Streisand’s footsteps and, if history is any indication, his directorial debut will earn several award nominations, and deservedly so. Not only is Cooper’s A Star is Born the premiere of a filmmaker with a unique voice but it solidifies Lady Gaga as the preeminent entertainer of the day. ›››

  • First Trailer for Acclaimed Doc 'On Her Shoulders' About Nadia Murad

First Trailer for Acclaimed Doc 'On Her Shoulders' About Nadia Murad

    On Her Shoulders Doc Trailer

“Murad is campaigning to try to get the world to notice, and do something.” Oscilloscope Labs has debuted the official trailer for a documentary titled On Her Shoulders, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and won the US Documentary Directing Award. The film is even more relevant now because its subject, young activist and genocide survivor Nadia Murad, just won the Nobel Peace Prize with Denis Mukwege. After surviving the 2014 genocide of the Yazidis in Northern Iraq and escaping sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS, 23-year-old Nadia Murad gave a testimony before the U.N. Security Council that was heard around the world. Nadia suddenly became the face and voice of the Yazidis. Despite longing for a normal life away from the spotlight, she takes on the exhausting role of an activist in hopes of halting the ongoing genocide. This seems like a powerful look at how hard it is to speak up and keep living your life. ›››

Official Trailer for Doc 'Old Man Football' About Reclaiming Past Glory

    Old Man Football Trailer

“They want to see if they can ‘bring it’ now, because they couldn’t ‘bring it’ then.” How about that for a bit of honesty? Freestyle Digital Media has unveiled the official US trailer for a documentary titled Old Man Football, which premiered at a few small film festivals last year. The film is about an event in which older men and women returned to Corpus Christi (Texas) Carroll High School to play in an old vs young game and reclaim their past glory on the football field. The doc film presents “multiple stories of personal redemption” following a few various people as they return home and think about their lives back then and where they are now. It seems to be leaning a little too heavy on nostalgia, but also looks honest and heartfelt. Check it out. ›››
