One Final Trailer for Bad Robot's WWII Zombie Horror Film 'Overlord'

    Overlord Trailer

“What happens to those people?” “They have been given a purpose…” Paramount has released the second & final trailer for an action horror movie titled Overlord, a secret project from Bad Robot made by Australian filmmaker Julius Avery (Son of a Gun). This premiered at Fantastic Fest a few weeks ago to rave reviews – read Jeremy’s review here. Overlord is about a group of WWII soldiers who end up stuck behind enemy lines after D-Day. They discover the Nazi’s secret plans to create more powerful soldiers using supernatural forces. Starring Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, John Magaro, and Mathilde Ollivier. I’m really looking forward to watching this. Looks grisly and dark and intense, bring on the undead soldiers. ›››

  • First Trailer for Clint Eastwood's 'The Mule' Releasing This December

First Trailer for Clint Eastwood's 'The Mule' Releasing This December

    The Mule Trailer

“I didn’t deserve forgiveness…” Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for Clint Eastwood’s new film The Mule, which has been scheduled for release in December of this year. This is Eastwood’s second film this year, following The 15:17 to Paris earlier this year. And he also stars in this one. Eastwood plays a 90-year-old horticulturist and WWII veteran who is surprisingly caught transporting $3 million worth of cocaine through Michigan for a Mexican drug cartel. The full cast includes Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, plus Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio, Loren Dean, and Eugene Cordero. I like the cold opening to this trailer, makes it thrilling right away. This looks quite good, at least the story does. Might be interested in watching this one. ›››

  • Second Trailer for 'Mary Queen of Scots' Pitting Robbie Against Ronan

Second Trailer for 'Mary Queen of Scots' Pitting Robbie Against Ronan

    Mary Queen of Scots Trailer

“I may command armies, but tell my cousin I pray for peace.” Focus Features has debuted a second official trailer for Josie Rourke’s Mary Queen of Scots, telling the story of the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. She was Queen of France at 16, then widowed at 18, deciding to return to Scotland without a husband, where she has to carefully compete with her cousin – Queen Elizabeth I of England, ruling over Scotland and England at the time. Saoirse Ronan plays Mary, Margot Robbie plays Elizabeth, with a superb ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, David Tennant, Jack Lowden, Brendan Coyle, Martin Compston, Ismael Cruz Cordova, and James McArdle. The first trailer was a passionate introduction, and this one is even more powerful. This is definitely worth a watch. ›››

  • Wahlberg & Byrne in Another International Trailer for 'Instant Family'

Wahlberg & Byrne in Another International Trailer for 'Instant Family'

    Instant Family Trailer

“Keep in mind folks – it is not going to be easy…” Paramount Pictures UK has released a new international trailer for the upcoming holiday comedy Instant Family, the latest movie by Sean Anders (of Sex Drive, That’s My Boy, Horrible Bosses 2, Daddy’s Home 1 & 2). Instant Family is inspired by the real events from the life of writer/director Sean Anders, telling the story of a couple that find themselves in over their heads when they adopt three children. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, Tig Notaro, Isabela Moner, plus Margo Martindale. This really looks so bad, so bad, and so cliche, and painfully unfunny. I would much rather see a movie where they adopt kittens, not kids, than this crap. But that’s me. ›››

  • First Trailer for Gorgeous Brazilian Animated Film 'Tito and the Birds'

First Trailer for Gorgeous Brazilian Animated Film 'Tito and the Birds'

    Tito and the Birds Trailer

“This is the story of how fear contaminated the world.” Shout Factory has debuted the first official trailer for an animated adventure from Brazil titled Tito and the Birds, also known as Tito e os Pássaros. The film tells the story of a boy who discovers, along with his father, the the cure for fear, an epidemic that is sweeping the world and turning people into rocks. It’s animated by hand in a gorgeous oil painted style that is truly mesmerizing to look at. Even if there isn’t as much detail as usually seen in animation, it’s just so spectacular, I could stare at the frames for hours just admiring them. I caught this film at the Annecy Film Festival this summer and wrote a rave review. It also just played at TIFF and is playing at the Animation Is Film festival next, before hopefully getting a theatrical release later this year. I really, really adore this film. ›››

  • Watch: 2-Minute Horror Short Film 'Tap' Directed by Dave Bundtzen

Watch: 2-Minute Horror Short Film 'Tap' Directed by Dave Bundtzen

    Tap Short Film

“Tap – – If You Hear It… It’s Too Late.” It’s October! That means it’s time to start featuring some new horror short films to get everyone, and keep everyone, in the horror movie mood throughout this month. Up first is a two-minute short film titled Tap, from director Dave Bundtzen. The film won Best Horror Short Film at the Top Shorts Film Festival, and it’s a surprisingly scary, but quick watch. Tap stars Katherine Celio and Mike Dinsmore. This reminds me of the short Where Is It we featured last year in the fall. I always enjoy shorts like this because it shows how films can be quite effective at scares within just a few minutes of time. ›››

  • Hart & Cranston in First Trailer for 'Intouchables' Remake 'The Upside'

Hart & Cranston in First Trailer for 'Intouchables' Remake 'The Upside'

    The Upside Trailer

“Who’s fault is it? Is it yours or is the world out to get you?” STX Entertainment has debuted the official trailer for The Upside, the American comedy remake of French film Les Intouchables, or The Intouchables, first released back in 2011. This new version of the film takes the same concept and same characters and sets it in New York, adding way too much dumb humor. It’s described as a “comedic look” at the relationship between a wealthy paraplegic and an unemployed man with a past criminal record who’s hired to help him. Kevin Hart stars, with Bryan Cranston as the paraplegic, and a full cast including Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies, Tate Donovan, and Aja Naomi King. Like many, I adore the original film, but this is a slap in the face to that one. I was hoping it might turn out okay, but putting Kevin Hart in it was a sure sign they would take out any of that authenticity in place of stupid humor (like the shower scene). Ugh. ›››

  • Final Action-Packed Trailer for New 'Robin Hood' with Taron Egerton

Final Action-Packed Trailer for New 'Robin Hood' with Taron Egerton

    Robin Hood Trailer

“Can you see…? You inspire the people!” Lionsgate has debuted one final official trailer for their new Robin Hood movie. The final trailer is just as worrisome as the last trailer, even though it looks like it has some entertaining action. They’re definitely trying to sell this like Pirates of the Caribbean, about a man of the people, and I don’t think it’s going to work. This new Robin Hood stars England’s top young actor Taron Egerton as Robin of Loxley, a “war-hardened Crusader” who fights against the corrupt English crown with his friend, Little John, played by Jamie Foxx. The cast includes Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, Björn Bengtsson, Ian Peck, and Jamie Dornan. As much as I’d like to see a modern Robin Hood movie, this just looks like every other action movie in the last decade. Give me something else, please. ›››

Stephen Dorff & Melissa George in New Trailer for Thriller 'Don't Go'

    Don't Go Trailer

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do!!” IFC Films has debuted an official US trailer for an Irish horror thriller titled Don’t Go, originally titled Don’t Let Go, the latest from filmmaker David Gleeson (Cowboys & Angels, The Front Line). Devastated by his daughter’s death in a terrible accident, Ben becomes convinced that he can bring her back through a recurring dream on a beach. But is it only a dream? Or is Ben really losing his mind? Ben & Hazel end up pulled deep into a mystery far beyond their understanding. Stephen Dorff and Melissa George star as Ben and Hazel, along with Simon Delaney, Gavin O’Connor, Grace Farrell, and Aoibhinn McGinnity. The film features a score composed by popular EDM musician Ferry Corsten. This looks like an engaging, emotional, psychological horror that will really mess with your head. ›››

“When you have power, people will always try to take it from you. Always.” Annapurna has finally debuted the first official trailer for Adam McKay’s new movie Vice, about the “most powerful Vice President in history” – Dick Cheney. Yep. After earning five Oscar nominations and one big win for The Big Short, McKay has made another political satire, this time starring Christian Bale as the infamous VP. We’ve all been waiting to see something from this, and the movie will be out in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day – perfect for the holidays, right? The cast of McKay’s Vice includes Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney, Alison Pill as Mary Cheney, Bill Pullman as Rockefeller, Steve Carell as Rumsfeld, Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, Lily Rabe as Liz Cheney, Eddie Marsan as Paul Wolfovitz, as well as Jesse Plemons, Shea Whigham, LisaGay Hamilton, Tyler Perry, Justin Kirk, and Bill Camp. This looks wildly hilarious. ›››
