  • Guacamelee 2 Release Dates Set For Switch And Xbox One, DLC Outlined

Guacamelee 2 Release Dates Set For Switch And Xbox One, DLC Outlined

DrinkBox Studios’ Guacamelee 2 arrives on Nintendo Switch on December 10, and Xbox One next January. If you already played through the game on PlayStation 4 or PC, new content is coming your way, starting today with the release of the Three Enemigos DLC pack.

Retailing for $2.99, this DLC adds three playable characters to the mix. You can suit up as Jaguar Javier, El Muñeco, or Uay Pek, each bringing unique abilities and approaches to combat.

In December a second DLC pack arrives for $3.99, and adds 15 challenges to the game, along with a bevy of playable characters, including Chamoya Coscorrona, Uay Coco, Ramirez, Flame Face, and two others. Again, each of these characters performs differently.

Game Informer’s Kyle Hilliard reviewed Guacamelee 2 on PlayStation 4, and called it familiar to the first game, but still a riot. He said “with myriad combat and platforming improvements, a worthwhile story, and better challenges, this is the follow-up I didn’t know I wanted.”

  • A Sequel And All Female Spin-Off For Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Is In The Works

A Sequel And All Female Spin-Off For Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Is In The Works

According to an article by The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is already starting on a sequel for its upcoming animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as well as an all-female spin-off.

Joaquim Dos Santos who executive produced Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender and whose work includes Avatar: The Last Airbender and Justice League Unlimited will direct the sequel. Sony is currently in discussion with Lauren Montgomery who co-directed DC projects like Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse to head up the spin-off. Bek Smith who penned episodes for CBS’s The Zoo will write the spin-off’s script.

The filmmakers behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will be involved in some capacity, as will Marvel Studios’ CEO Avi Arad. Amy Pascal who produced the live-action films and the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will resume production on both projects.

So far, no plot details have been released on either film. Speculation is that the sequel will continue around Miles Morales, with the spin-off possibly focusing on Spider-Gwen who is also in the upcoming animated film.

Releasing in theaters on December 14, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a breath of fresh air for a universe that’s been largely given the live-action treatment on the big screen, and apparently even has a wink and a nod to Insomniac’s critically-acclaimed Spider-Man. The buzz around the web is that the film is also a contender for an animation award courtesy of its unique art style.

  • Dark Horse's Halo Omnibus Launches Tomorrow

Dark Horse's Halo Omnibus Launches Tomorrow

A new Halo game is in the works, but Master Chief likely won’t be returning to video games any time soon. If you need your fix of the green armor, Dark Horse is launching a new Halo Omnibus tomorrow that features chapters written by Halo 4’s senior writer Chris Schlerf, and Halo 5: Guardians’ lead writer Brian Reed.

This monstrous 368-page paperback book reprints the complete three-issue series of Halo: Initiation and the first 12 issues of Halo: Escalation. Readers will also find a cover gallery and a variety of process pages. Along with Reed and Schlerf, the book features writing by Duffy Boudreau, and art by Sergio Arino, Ricardo Sanchez, and Douglas Franchin. The cover is illustrated by Jean-Sebastein Rossbach.

Halo: Escalation is set after the events of Halo 4, and follows the crew of the UNSC Infinity as they try to foster peace between the Elites and Brutes. What they soon find, however, is a long-lost UNSC asset is in enemy hands. Halo: Initiation tells the story of Sarah Palmer before she wore Spartan armor.

The Halo Omnibus retails for $24.99. Dark Horse lists it as volume 1, meaning we’ll likely see another in the future!

  • Man of Medan Dev Diary Shines a Light on its Dark and Dreary Ghost Ship Setting

    Sail away.

The Dark Pictures Anthology from Supermassive Games kicks off next year, and the first title, Man of Medan, is looking shipshape. Bandai Namco has released the first in a series of developer diaries for the spiritual successor to Until Dawn, and it sounds like the environment is getting plenty of attention.

Artists and designers chime in to talk about creating a creepy setting for the cast of characters to navigate, but also ensuring a surprising level of authenticity. The degradation of the ship has been exaggerated, but is based on real research, and the sound reverb in each room has been recreated to make sure the locations are suitably eerie.

  • A Fisherman's Tale Trailer Shows How You Help Yourself in Mind Bending PSVR Puzzler

    Lighthouse-ception.

A few months back, A Fisherman’s Tale was announced for PlayStation VR, but thus far, we’ve not learned all that much about it. Today, a new trailer has emerged online, revealing how you’ll interact with the lighthouse environment that seems to infinitely repeat itself.

The game is primarily a puzzle game in which the solutions involve you working with larger and smaller versions of yourself. It’s tricky to explain, but the trailer gives you a very good idea of what to expect. It looks really rather interesting, and we can imagine the infinitely layered worlds being quite a sight in virtual reality. The game is due out in January 2019.
