  • The Super Smash Bros. Series Will Never Die, Thanks To Fans

There’s only one series in the world where you can punch Mario in the jaw while playing as Kirby, and that’s Super Smash Bros. A beautiful anomaly of games with orchestral banger versions of classic Nintendo tunes, walls of collectibles from each franchise’s history that make it feel like a weird gaming museum, and an overflowing list of unsuspecting, wacky crossover characters that even eclipses Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

It’s a series with something special, and it’s powered by a community of people who really care about it. Super-fans that continue to pump life into a game for over 17 years; analyzing characters, utilizing glitches, creating competitive rulesets, and organizing communal tournaments around the world for players of all skill levels, simply because they love the games so much.

  • Red Dead Online: Rockstar Will Re-Balance In-Game Gold Bar Economy

Rockstar has responded to player feedback for Red Dead Online’s beta, specifically commenting on fixing the in-game economy.

“Our current areas of focus include the in-game economy, which will require some additional balancing in order to ensure all activities are appropriately rewarding and fun, as well as some persistent bugs that are causing some players to be kicked from sessions.”

Rockstar’s decision to focus on this fix first, is most likely a response from players complaining about the time it can take to earn just one gold bar in the game, which is approximately 8 hours.

  • Black Desert: 5 Things To Know When Starting Xbox's New MMORPG

Black Desert is finally making its way over to the Xbox One. Massive, open-world MMORPGs are still relatively rare on consoles, but games like Final Fantasy XIV and The Elder Scrolls Online are slowly reforming that perception.

Over on PC, Black Desert Online has earned its spot as one of the most popular MMOs around. By adopting a buy-to-play model, similar to The Elder Scrolls Online and Guild Wars 2, once you pay for access to the game, you no longer have to pay a fee anymore (a la Destiny 2) – unless you want to. There’s a cash shop with optional items and perks for premium users, but it’s totally playable as just the base game if you want.

Since a lot of Xbox One players are likely new to this MMO, we’ve put together five specific things to know when starting out in Black Desert on Xbox One based on time spent with the recent Open Beta period.

  • Free Content Coming to Battlefield V on December 5

Free Content Coming to Battlefield V on December 5

Battlefield V launched November 20 on Xbox One with eight unique maps, eight intense modes, a variety of weapons, vehicles, and munitions. But there’s so much more coming in the Tides of War, the game’s ongoing live service available free to all players.

Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture is available December 5 and we’re here to take you through the evolving gameplay, new experiences, expanding world, and game improvements you can expect when you join the ranks.

T is for Tanks (and Lots of Them)

If you like major destruction and big booms, you’re going to love Panzerstorm. This massive new map, set in Belgium in 1940, is a tank paradise. Up to 17 of these war machines (and three more Reinforcements) are available to chew up the scenery, but there’s still plenty for Infantry to do. With the right Fortifications, and access to plentiful trenches, soldiers on foot can lend a hand. And, of course, destruction can rain down from on high with the right air support. Take a tour of this chaotic map but be sure to keep your head down.

The single-player War Story added with Chapter 1, “The Last Tiger,” gives players a different perspective on the war. Join the crew of a Tiger I tank fighting a massive Allied onslaught and their own doubts about the ideology that led them to their now inevitable defeat. The odds are against you, but the keys to survival in this War Story are to stay in motion and repair your tank whenever possible.

    Practice, Practice, Practice

There’s a lot to learn in a game like Battlefield V, for new players and veterans alike. If you’d like to get to know the weapons and vehicles available on the front lines without dodging enemy bullets, you’re in luck. Head to the Practice Range unveiled in Chapter 1 for some quality time taking out targets or figuring out how to avoid driving off cliffs or flying into hillsides.

Once you’re ready to face the multiplayer maps, you can continue your learning curve and start earning Chapter Ranks and rewards with Chapter Events. Choose the in-game challenges you want to take on; each one will help you learn valuable skills you’ll need on the battlefield. The first is called Attrition and Fortifications and, if completed, you’ll unlock your very own VGO medium machine gun.

What kinds of challenges will you need to complete? Things like using Bandages 10 times to restore your health in combat, keeping your teammates well supplied with ammo, building or destroying Fortifications, and more. There’s even a challenge to build a snowman. Ok, so maybe that’s not the most important fighting skill you can learn, but it will get you one step closer to your VGO.

What else can you earn? Soldier outfits, weapon skins, Dog Tags, and more. Oh, and did we mention XP? You can earn that too.

    Looking Good

One more thing we’ve added to Chapter 1 is the ability to customize the look of the vehicles in your Company (your personalized collection of soldiers, weapons, and vehicles). Vehicle customizations won’t change how your fighter flies or tank runs, they’re strictly cosmetic. But when it comes to making an impression on the battlefield, the right tank skin or plane nose art can go a long way.

There’s a lot to do and learn in Tides of War Chapter 1, but it’s only the beginning of your Battlefield V journey. Check back for more information and updates. We’ll see you on the battlefield.

Battlefield V is now available on Xbox One in both a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition. EA Access subscribers can start playing a 10-hour Battlefield V trial immediately. For all the latest Battlefield V news on Xbox One, keep it tuned here to Xbox Wire.

Prepare for the Team-oriented Gameplay of Aftercharge on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass

    Hello Xbox players!

At Chainsawesome Games, we’re all big on multiplayer games and our favorites are the ones you need to coordinate as a team to outsmart your opponents. As gamers ourselves, what we’ve seen way too many times are games meant to be played in teams in which players mostly play only for themselves. While designing our own competitive team game Aftercharge, we tried to put a few things in place to encourage good teammate behavior within the core of the game.

    Small Teams

Aftercharge is a 3 vs 3 game. We felt like having teams of that size would give everyone a general feeling that they can and must make a difference in the outcome of the game. It’s also way easier to coordinate a small team of 3 than a squadron of 12 players. We wanted to encourage people to group up with their friends… which is a breeze when you only have 2 friends to convince.

    Coordinating Distractions on Offense

Aftercharge is not asymmetrical in team size but it is in gameplay. The team on offense is made of invisible robots. They are trying to sneak up to the objectives called extractors and destroy them while the enemies are trying to find them. As the attackers, you are playing with distractions. One robot can strike an extractor at one end of the map to draw attention while the two others wait for the defender to leave their spot to destroy far away extractors unchallenged.

The sacrificial lamb can even die from that strategy as a robot dying in Aftercharge is not a big deal. Any robot can revive each other at arm’s length with no cast time or cost. It can be part of the scheme to keep attention longer.

    Keeping Focus on Defense

On defense, since your enemies are invisible most of the time, you need to be always on alert and a react quickly. All three members of your team can’t be flocking to every objective point on each alert. That would be the best way to hear extractors blowing up in your back all game long. If you and your teammates are not calling shots like “I saw one going through that tunnel,” “I’m pushing this dead robot to you, cover me,” or “He’s coming right behind you,” you will get played by the attackers and ultimately loose.

We want Aftercharge to be a lesson in effective teamwork. There is no room for a solo player in search of personal glory.

If you are curious to learn more about the game and try it for yourself before the release, we invite you to follow our social media accounts and join our Discord. We will be holding a Beta Weekend for Xbox One players from December 14 to 16. We can’t wait to see the Xbox community jump in our world when we release straight into Xbox Game Pass in early January 2019.
