  • Discover the World of Anthem on Xbox One

    Greetings, Freelancers!

We know you’re itching to suit up in your Javelin for the first time and set out to make a name for yourself in Anthem on Xbox One. And while we wait patiently (or impatiently) for February 22 — or February 15 for EA Access members — let’s go over some of the awesome new content we’ve shown off.

First things first: you should watch that trailer at the top of this article. You may have already seen it when it launched during The Game Awards, but it’s worth watching again. It brings the history of Anthem to life with just a hint of the looming enemy that threatens to upend the uneasy balance of this dangerous world.

But there’s even more to discover in Anthem.

    The Javelins

These are the amazing suits of powered armor that you’ll use to run, jump, fly, swim, and fight your way through the world. Your Javelins are highly customizable and incredibly powerful, allowing you to build out your weapons and gear to develop your own unique playstyle. The Ranger is a versatile Javelin that has a lot of firepower without sacrificing mobility or defense and excels at precision damage-dealing.

The Colossus has a much heavier chassis which allows it to take more punishment from enemies and carry two heavy weapon types that the other javelins don’t have access to. The mighty Storm prefers to hover above the battlefield, using the powerful seal technology embedded in its armor to rain destruction down on enemies from a safe distance. The Interceptor is the fastest javelin, with access to dual-bladed daggers that can cut down foes before they have a chance to react.

Each Javelin has access to powerful weaponry and their own unique gear, along with their melee and ultimate abilities. And speaking of ultimates…

    The Ultimates

Each Javelin has its own devastating ultimate ability, which it can fire off for a decisive turn in any battle. These abilities take a while to recharge, so it’s important for Freelancers to master the exact moment of maximum impact. The Ranger uses a powerful Multi-target Missile Battery that can lock on to several fast-moving targets and clear them out quickly. The Colossus wields a Siege Cannon that fires off shots that explode for massive damage. The Storm channels the power of the Anthem into an Elemental Storm that uses ice, fire, and lightning to lock down and destroy enemies. The Interceptor unleashes its Assassin’s Blades, dashing around the battlefield and annihilating anything in its way.

    Developer AMAAAA and Livestreams

BioWare is committed to making sure that players get a great sense of what Anthem is, and to that end they’ve been doing some truly incredible things. One of which has been Executive Producer Mark Darrah’s extensive AMAAAA (Ask Me Almost Anything About Anthem), where he fields questions on his Twitter account, @biomarkdarrah. You can head over to our wrap-up article for the latest, or just visit Mark’s twitter for more information.

We’ve also put together livestreams to more deeply explore some of the aspects of the game that the community has wanted to see. From Freeplay, which allows you to freely roam in the Anthem world, to Javelin Customization, these livestreams have shown off some amazing content so check out Anthem’s official Twitch channel at twitch.tv/anthemgame.

These are focused looks at Anthem, so if you need a more general refresher check out this hands-on look.

We’re excited to share even more about this beautiful and deadly world and the Freelancers who are tasked with protecting humanity.

Pre-order Anthem on Xbox One to get ready for launch on February 22, 2019; February 15, 2019 for EA Access members.

It’s Time to Eradicate Demons in Devil May Cry 5, Demo Out Now Exclusively on Xbox One

We aren’t exaggerating when we say Devil May Cry 5 is one of the most over-the-top action experiences of this generation. You don’t have to take our word for it, you can play the demo right now only on Xbox One!

The Devil May Cry series is the undisputed pioneer of the Stylish Action genre and this latest installment is no exception. Game director (and insane genius) Hideaki Itsuno and his team of passionate developers at Capcom have delivered on an unmissable, eye-popping graphical spectacle of swords, guns, detachable arms that sometimes shoot lasers, and demonic guts splattering everywhere… and that’s before you even hit the first boss fight! Add in a sassy, smack-talking weapon smith and you’ve got one hell of a party you won’t soon forget.

    Devil May Cry 5

    Devil May Cry 5

In this action-packed sample of the craziness of Devil May Cry 5, you play as Nero, our hero on a mission to figure out what’s going down in Redgrave City. There are demons everywhere and they need a good trouncing. A calculated surprise attack left him without his Devil Bringer arm, so his partner, the more spice than sugar Nico, has developed new technology to keep this demon bustin’ show on the road; the Devil Breakers. Each Devil Breaker allows you different battle abilities, but you better keep plenty on hand because Devil Breakers, well… they break. Good thing our gal, Nico, has a habit of leaving extras out on the battlefield.

Because Devil May Cry 5 is all about destroying demons with style, the more skillfully you play racking up those combos, the more you’re rewarded. As you climb the style ranks in battle, you’ll find the dynamic soundtrack starts kicking in. Get up towards that SSS ranking and you’ll be rewarded with a bumpin’ battle theme you’ll be humming for days to come.

  • The World of Ashen Comes to Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass December 7

The wait is over! The dark world of Ashen will finally see the light and launch on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass on December 7… and what a journey it’s been to get here!

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Ashen, the ID@Xbox team recently visited our studios in Wellington, New Zealand to find out more about our open-world, action RPG that Xbox gamers around the globe will soon experience. We’re excited to share a snapshot of that visit here, and a preview of Ashen as we get ready to welcome players to a mystical world to discover, defend, and share with each other.

Thrown into a world of darkness, Ashen follows the story of a fantasy world with no light, that is suddenly reborn with an explosion of sunlight. It is your role to understand and protect this light, fighting the evil and darkness in stamina-based action combat, either independently or with the help of helpful strangers through passive multiplayer gameplay.

Your journey through Ashen will have twists, turns, and magical moments as you discover both the enemies of the light, and the strength of a community that creates amazing moments together. With passive multiplayer in Ashen, you’re only ever alone if you want to be – you’ll never die or battle alone, because you’ll have a helping hand next to you from others in the game…. if you need it.

But that’s not to say you won’t be challenged. Whilst accessibility has been key to our design, players who seek brutal boss fights and challenges will find a wealth of worthy battle sessions in the game.

Our virtual studio tour video above will give you a snapshot of our journey, our partnership with the ID@Xbox team, and the excitement we feel finally bringing this game to launch on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox One and enhanced for Xbox One X. While the game’s first preview at the 2015 Xbox E3 Briefing set us on the path to an exciting trajectory of development and new ambitions in the games design, what’s most exciting is finally getting the game into the hands of players.

We’re excited to welcome you as you join us in Ashen!

Ashen is available December 7 on Xbox One via the Microsoft Store and for Xbox Game Pass members with an active subscription. Ashen is an Xbox One X Enhanced title.

  • Fortnite's Map Changes In Big Ways For Season 7

Fortnite's Map Changes In Big Ways For Season 7

Fortnite‘s big 7.00 update is now live, marking the start of Season 7 of the popular battle royale game. Developer Epic Games has introduced a wealth of new content to the title this season, from new pets, skins, and toys to a load of other cosmetics you can unlock through the Season 7 Battle Pass.

Those certainly aren’t the only new things in the game, however; Epic has also made some dramatic changes to Fortnite’s map. As the developer has been teasing in the lead up to the season, the iceberg that appeared in the ocean near the end of Season 6 has collided into the island, creating a new arctic biome.

    No Caption Provided

As you can see in the image above, the entire lower western portion of the island has been overtaken by snow. The region is home to three new areas: Polar Peak, Frosty Flights, and the charming Happy Hamlet. Moreover, there are now ziplines around the map, which help you traverse various heights much more quickly.

Perhaps the biggest addition in Season 7 thus far, however, is the X-4 Stormwing plane, Fortnite’s first aerial vehicle. The plane can seat five players and features a mounted gun, allowing you to fire at opponents from the skies. It adds a fun new dimension to the game, especially when you’re trying to take out other Stormwings, as you can watch us do in the video above.

As usual, Epic will roll out new challenges for Fortnite on a weekly basis throughout Season 7. The first batch is now available and tasks players with dancing in forbidden locations and dancing on a crown of RVs, among other things. You can find tips for completing all the new challenges in our Fortnite Season 7 challenges roundup.
