The Darksiders franchise made its debut on Xbox 360 back in 2010. At the time, the first horsemen of the Apocalypse, War, quickly became a favorite among hack-n-slash, action-adventure fans for his larger-than-life design, weaponry and in-game battles. His brother Death set himself apart in much the same manner in its sequel, Darksiders II, a couple years later.
Earlier this year we introduced fans to the third Horseman of the Apocalypse – Fury – in the long-anticipated Darksiders III for Xbox One. As a mage, Fury sets herself apart from her brothers in many different ways but the team and I decided the best way to do the entire franchise justice was to have her brothers join her on Xbox One!

4K resolution is the hallmark of Xbox One X Enhanced gaming on Xbox One X. Telling the age-old story of good vs. evil on a post-apocalyptic planet Earth on Xbox One is very exciting for us; on Xbox One X, the high level of visual fidelity makes the experience even more immersive for the player. From creatures in underground sewers to gutted vehicles strewn about expanses of wild, natural foliage to dilapidated buildings stretching up through the heavens, the detail is vivid, to say the least.
Combat also takes on a new dimension. War’s two-handed sword known as Chaoseater, Death’s two scythes, and Fury’s long, bladed whip feel even more punishing depending on who you defeat.

Whether you are brand new to the franchise or have been a part of the Darksiders lore since Day One, now is the time to ready for battle and jump into Darksiders on Xbox One.
Darksiders III is now available on Xbox One and enhanced for Xbox One X. You can purchase it online via the Microsoft Store for $59.99.

When Capcom first revealed Devil May Cry 5, they introduced Nero’s theme, Devil Trigger from vocalist Ali Edwards. The song was catchy, which made it all the stranger when Dante’s theme was revealed to be an deathcore metal song titled Subhuman. The music video reached a high number of dislikes as fans voted against the song, and was removed from YouTube shortly after, but not for the reasons everyone thought. After fans discovered that the vocalist of the band, Suicide Silence, had admitted to sexual and emotional abuse of a fan who was a minor when their relationship began, Capcom pulled the music and publicly pontificated on the possibility of replacing the song but warned they might not have the resources to do so.
Today, Capcom announced that they’re keeping Subhuman in the game, but replacing the vocalist. The rest of the band, which was not involved in the controversy, is keeping their instrumentation in place.
“While the song was written and recorded in-game well before such allegations, we’d still like to ensure, to the best of our abilities, that your experience with the game ultimately goes unmarred,” Capcom’s Yuri Araujo wrote in a blog post. “As such, our development team, producers, recording and mixing teams have worked hard to find and implement a new vocal track by Michael Barr. It is worth noting that the hard work of the Suicide Silence band members, as well as song writers Cody Matthew Johnson & Mark Heylmun, remained intact, as they were not involved with the incidents.”
One of the reasons this might have been such a difficult replacement is the way DMC5 uses its battle music, layering it depending on how the style rankings in battles fluctuate. Replacing just the vocal track was likely a more feasible option for how the music was implemented into the game than making an entirely new track.
Capcom’s claim that the song was written and recorded before the allegations might be true, but the allegations were certainly known well before Capcom went public with the song. They were initially reported in November 2017 and were easily searchable by Googling the band’s name, so that excuse does not pass muster. That said, they appear to be doing the right thing by replacing the vocalist.

For a number of years, players have had their preferences for Call of Duty’s various modes. Some people couldn’t give a lick about single-player and didn’t understand why they have to pay for a campaign they didn’t touch. Not everyone is going to like every part of a game, but Activision has traditionally been hesitant to split the games up and sell it in pieces, though they appear to be poking at the idea in an official capacity with Black Ops 4.
Dubbed “The Battle Edition,” the PC-only version of Black Ops 4 will be available with just the traditional multiplayer and Blackout modes. This means that the zombie content in the game is being left by the wayside, letting Activision sell the game on Battle.net for a discounted $30.
The most obvious reason for this move is that it competes with other Battle Royale games sold for cheaper prices by making Blackout an actual competitor in both content and price. By letting Blackout compete directly with PUBG, Activision likely hopes to position themselves as the strongest option for a paid Battle Royale game rather than simply a mode in a larger title.
While Black Ops 4 has no single-player campaign, it does raise the question of further games creating similar split SKUs, should single-player ever return to the series. It probably depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to how well the Black Ops 4 split does and whether a hypothetical new campaign is good enough to stand on its own without multiplayer propping it up.

Feel the RAGE.
A new Far Cry game will be announced during The Game Awards 2018 later today, and here’s your very first look at it. The box – which boasts the name Far Cry: New Dawn – shows two ladies sat on a sofa, while a man chained to the roof of a car screams out for help. One of the women appears to be wearing roller skate pads, while the other has a giant makeshift sawblade weapon.
As we know from the debut trailer, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic setting, so it’s likely that this is a world whereby law and order has collapsed. It’s unclear whether it’s set in the same map as Far Cry 5, but it’s possible that Ubisoft may have taken the framework for Hope County and adapted it. We’ll need to wait for more information during tonight’s show.

Award winning bargains.
We’re mere hours away from The Game Awards 2018, and as has become tradition, the US PlayStation Store is playing host to a new sale, celebrating the nominees in this year’s show. It’s live right now, and features a whole range of reduced prices on lots of the nominated games.
Battlefield V is down to $35.99, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 can be bought for $47.99, and FIFA 19 is a pretty reasonable $29.99. Of course, it’s not just the big games that are reduced. Smaller games like Donut County, Dead Cells, Celeste, and plenty more are going cheap. What’s more, there are even a handful of inclusions that don’t feature in this year’s Game Awards at all, so it’s definitely worth a quick browse to see what’s available.
