First Teaser Trailer for New 'Robin Hood' Movie Starring Taron Egerton

    Robin Hood Trailer

“You’re not curious who’s under the hood?” Lionsgate has debuted the first teaser trailer for the new Robin Hood movie, with the most original title yet – Robin Hood (which is the same title as the other recent one). If you haven’t had enough Robin Hood, after Ridley Scott’s failed Russell Crowe movie from 2010, then here’s another fresh action-packed take for you. This Robin Hood stars Taron Egerton as Robin of Loxley, a “war-hardened Crusader” who fights against the corrupt English crown with his friend, Little John, played by Jamie Foxx. The cast includes Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, Björn Bengtsson, Ian Peck, and Jamie Dornan. This looks like way more of an Assassin’s Creed movie than the Assassin’s Creed movie did, and it also reminds me a lot of Guy Ritchie’s action style. You might want to check this out. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Documentary 'Eating Animals' About What We Eat

Official Trailer for Documentary 'Eating Animals' About What We Eat

    Eating Animals Doc Trailer

“There’s inherent cruelty in that system.” IFC Films has released the official trailer for indie documentary Eating Animals, the latest by doc filmmaker Christopher Dillon Quinn (21 Up America, God Grew Tired of Us). This film is actually an adaptation of the very popular book also titled Eating Animals, by Jonathan Safran Foer. It’s an examination of our dietary choices and the food we put in our bodies. Don’t be alarmed – it’s not all about giving up meat and only eating plants. I saw this doc at IDFA in Amsterdam last year, and it’s dang good, much better than you’re probably expecting. It presents a very honest and objective look at the debate over eating meat, but also discusses how we can sustainably raise animals and not use factories. There are talks with farmers and scientists, and it features narration by Natalie Portman. Worth a watch. ›››

  • Paul Rudd in Baseball Player Spy Film 'The Catcher Was a Spy' Trailer

Paul Rudd in Baseball Player Spy Film 'The Catcher Was a Spy' Trailer

The Catcher Was a Spy Trailer

“You can’t allow yourself to be captured.” IFC Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie true story film titled The Catcher Was a Spy, the latest from director Ben Lewin (The Sessions, Please Stand By). This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, but the reviews were bad. The Catcher Was a Spy tells the story of Morris “Moe” Berg, played by Paul Rudd, the Major League Baseball player, Ivy League graduate, attorney and top-secret spy who helped the US defeat Nazi Germany in the race to build the atomic bomb. That’s quite a pitch, but it doesn’t seem this will live up to that hype. The impressive cast includes Jeff Daniels, Mark Strong, Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Paul Giamatti, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Featuring a score by Howard Shore (which might be the most exciting part?). I’m always curious about WWII films, and this has my attention. It looks better than what I heard at Sundance, at least. Enjoy. ›››

  • Full UK Trailer for 'McQueen' Documentary About the Fashion Designer

Full UK Trailer for 'McQueen' Documentary About the Fashion Designer

    McQueen Doc Trailer

“If you leave without emotion, than I’m not doing my job properly.” Lionsgate UK has unveiled a new, full-length trailer for McQueen, the definitive documentary about the world famous British fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen. Those who know him know that he sadly died in 2010 by suicide at the age of 40. Those who don’t know him, well, this documentary provides a comprehensive introduction. McQueen is a “personal look at the extraordinary life, career and artistry of Alexander McQueen.” Featuring “exclusive interviews with his closest friends and family, recovered archives, exquisite visuals and music, McQueen is an authentic celebration and thrilling portrait of an inspired yet tortured fashion visionary.” I hope that line about emotion is also true about this doc, but it definitely looks like it might have that intensity. See below. ›››

  • Andrea Riseborough in First Trailer for Impersonation Drama 'Nancy'

Andrea Riseborough in First Trailer for Impersonation Drama 'Nancy'

    Nancy Trailer

“I think I might be your daughter Brooke.” Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted the trailer for indie drama Nancy, from writer/director Christina Choe making her feature debut. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to mixed reviews, and this trailer will give you a good idea why. Nancy stars the immensely talented Andrea Riseborough as a troubled, fragile young women who suddenly believes she is the long lost missing daughter of two parents from another state. She meets them and begins to feel at home, but things are not exactly right. This is not based on any particular real person, but it is inspired by true stories of impersonation. The full cast includes J. Smith-Cameron, Ann Dowd, John Leguizamo, and Steve Buscemi. Riseborough is excellent in this, as always, and the film brings up some intriguing questions about identity and personality. But it didn’t leave much of a strong impression on me. Take a look. ›››

  • First Trailer for Powerful, Modern Racism Drama 'Monsters and Men'

First Trailer for Powerful, Modern Racism Drama 'Monsters and Men'

    Monsters and Men Trailer

“What do the police want with you?” Neon has released the first trailer for an indie drama titled Monsters and Men, from writer/director Reinaldo Marcus Green, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The film is a modern look at racism, from all different sides, telling three distinct stories set in/around New York City (where Green was born and raised). One story follows a kid who gets in trouble when he films the police shooting an unarmed black man on the street, the next story follows a black police officer dealing with racism, and the last follows a kid with major league baseball prospects deciding whether to become an activist against his family’s wishes. The ensemble cast features John David Washington, Anthony Ramos, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Rob Morgan, Chanté Adams, Nicole Beharie, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Cara Buono. It’s a very powerful, stirring film with a lot to say about society today. ›››

Amusing Full-Length Trailer for WB's 'Teen Titans Go! To The Movies'

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Trailer

“Titans – you don’t actually do anything heroic.” Warner Bros has released the full-length official trailer for the big screen, feature version of the “Teen Titans” animated superhero series, titled Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, hitting theaters this July. The movie is a meta-movie, about the Teen Titans being in a movie, with references galore and extra bonus features like musical numbers and big bad villains. The voice cast includes Will Arnett and Kristen Bell, plus Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hynden Walch as Starfire, reprising their roles from the series. And is that Nicolas Cage as Superman I hear? I think it is, another perfect reference to the movie-that-never-happened with Cage as Superman. This actually looks super duper entertaining! I want to see it. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Marvel's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' with Rudd & Lilly

Second Trailer for Marvel's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' with Rudd & Lilly

    Ant-Man and the Wasp

“The only chance you’ve got – is both of you.” Marvel has released a new official trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, following the record breaking opening weekend of Avengers: Infinity War, in which Ant-Man did not make an appearance. Paul Rudd returns (and is credited on the screenplay) as Scott Lang, dealing with the consequences of what happened in the first movie. Evangeline Lilly plays The Wasp, who finally gets her own super-powered shrinking suit with wings and blasters. The cast includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne, David Dastmalchian, Randall Park, with Michael Douglas. This actually looks amazingly good, going to be so much fun. Seems like they might actually top the first one. The big ant playing the drums totally got me. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Netflix Travel Comedy 'Ibiza' Starring Gillian Jacobs

Official Trailer for Netflix Travel Comedy 'Ibiza' Starring Gillian Jacobs

    Ibiza Trailer

“We had, like, a real connection.” Netflix has debuted a trailer for a comedy titled Ibiza, originally known as I’m in Love with the DJ while filming. This unfortunately looks absolutely awful, as cheesy and cliche as it gets. The super-obvious, we’ve-seen-this-100-times story involves an overworked woman who takes a trip to Barcelona, but then decides to chase a “hot DJ” to Ibiza for one of the best adventures of her life. She’s joined by two of her friends, and stupid stuff happens, of course. Because it always does in comedies like this. Gillian Jacobs stars, with Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson, and Richard Madden. Have fun. ›››

Trailer for 'Evil Genius' Doc on 'America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist'

    Evil Genius Trailer

“2:28 PM. August 28, 2003. A man walks into a bank with a bomb locked around his neck. This is a true story.” Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a new documentary series titled Evil Genius: The True Story of America’s Most Diabolical Bank Heist, available in just a few weeks. This four-part series is another in Netflix’s growing documentary line-up, from the same producers behind Wild Wild Country. And since I totally loved that series, I’m featuring this anyway since it’s basically just a four-hour documentary split up into four episodes. Evil Genius tells the extraordinary story of the “pizza bomber heist” and the FBI’s investigation into a bizarre collection of suspects. It only gets weirder, proving there is “more to the conspiracy and murders than was ever thought.” This looks crazy twisted and baffling, indeed. Check it out. ›››
