Official US Trailer for Incredible Brazilian Horror Film 'Good Manners'

    Good Manners Trailer

“He’s a strong boy, Ana.” Distrib Films US has released an official trailer for an underrated Brazilian horror film titled Good Manners, or originally As Boas Maneiras in Portuguese. The is one of the most original, clever, craziest genre films I have ever seen, I’m still blown away thinking about it. Good Manners reinvents the werewolf genre in a completely eye-opening, breathtaking way. The story is about a lonely nurse hired by a wealthy, mysterious woman named Ana to be the the nanny for her unborn child. But she soon realizes things are a bit strange when she discovers Ana sleepwalks at night looking for prey. Isabél Zuaa stars, with a cast including Marjorie Estiano, Miguel Lobo, Cida Moreira, Andréa Marquee, and Felipe Kenji. I saw this film at a festival last year, and flipped for it. I wrote in my review: “It will make you freak out and laugh and cover your eyes and throw your hands up aghast in bewilderment.” Please, please go out and find and watch this film when it hits US theaters later this summer. It’s even better than you think it is. ›››

  • Second Official Trailer for 'The Equalizer 2' with Denzel Washington

Second Official Trailer for 'The Equalizer 2' with Denzel Washington

    The Equalizer 2 Trailer

“I guess anybody could do it, but nobody does…” Sony Pictures has debuted a second official trailer for the sequel The Equalizer 2, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Olympus Has Fallen, Southpaw, The Magnificent Seven). This new trailer is a bit more energetic and action packed than the first one. Denzel Washington returns as Robert “The Equalizer” McCall, a master of vengeance taking out bad people. Based on the 1980s TV series of the same name which originally starred Edward Woodward as McCall. Aside from Washington, the cast includes Pedro Pascal, Melissa Leo, Jonathan Scarfe, Sakina Jaffrey, Ashton Sanders, Lexie Roth, Caroline Day, as well as Bill Pullman. This looks entertaining, but it also looks like pretty much every other big vengeance action movie. At least Denzel looks badass, as he always does. Lock & load. ›››

Amandla Stenberg in First Trailer for Shooting Drama 'The Hate U Give'

    The Hate U Give Trailer

“We live in a complicated world…” “It doesn’t seem that complicated to me.” 20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for a intense real world drama titled The Hate U Give, adapted from Angie Thomas’ critically acclaimed book of the same name. Amandla Stenberg (from The Hunger Games and Everything Everything) stars as Starr, a young woman who witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. The cast includes Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Common, and Anthony Mackie. This looks similar to the Sundance films Blindspotting and Monsters and Men, both also about police shooting unarmed black men. But this has a much more serious and inspiring vibe to it, which makes it look very promising. Watch below. ›››

  • Teaser Trailer for Music Fest Comedy 'The Festival' with Joe Thomas

Teaser Trailer for Music Fest Comedy 'The Festival' with Joe Thomas

    The Festival Trailer

“When you party – go big, or go home!” Entertainment Film UK has debuted the first UK teaser trailer for a British comedy titled The Festival, a new film from the creators of the hit TV show “The Inbetweeners” (and the movies as well). The Festival is a comedy “about friendship, growing up, and going mad in a field.” After Nick’s girlfriend dumps him, his best mate Shane has the perfect antidote to his break-up blues: three days at an epic music festival. Of course, all kinds of weird things happen. Joe Thomas stars as Nick, and the full cast includes Nick Frost, Hammed Animashaun, Claudia O’Doherty, Jemaine Clement, Hannah Tointon, Lizzy Connolly, and Noel Fielding. This looks like one of those super cheesy, super crazy comedies you’ll only really enjoy if you also enjoy going to music festivals. Or like making fun of them. ›››

  • Dave Bautista in Teaser for 'Final Score' Action Movie Set in a Stadium

Dave Bautista in Teaser for 'Final Score' Action Movie Set in a Stadium

    Final Score Trailer

“It’s all about to kick off.” Sky Cinema has debuted an official teaser trailer for an action film titled Final Score, from British director Scott Mann (Down Amongst the Dead Men, The Tournament, and Heist). This film seems like kind of a remake of Sudden Death (even with the same kind of cheesy title), that actual film from the 90s with Jean-Claude Van Damme where they take over a hockey arena. But this time it’s a football stadium in England. Which is why this teaser is being released during the World Cup. Only one man can save all the footballs fans – and he is Drax. Er, sorry. Dave Bautista stars in this, along with Pierce Brosnan, Ray Stevenson, Martyn Ford, Ralph Brown, Alexandra Dinu, and Lucy Gaskell. This actually doesn’t look bad, though I know it’s just a teaser. I kind of want to see this, hopefully it’s not so bad. ›››

  • Theo James in Trailer for Apocalyptic Film 'How It Ends' from Netflix

Theo James in Trailer for Apocalyptic Film 'How It Ends' from Netflix

    How It Ends Trailer

“There’s a lot to be afraid of out there…” Netflix has debuted an official trailer for an indie film titled How It Ends, the latest from filmmaker David M. Rosenthal (Failing Up, Janie Jones, A Single Shot, The Perfect Guy). How It Ends is a post-apocalyptic survival thriller, one of those where they don’t really explain the apocalypse or what happened. The plot involves a desperate father trying to return home to his pregnant wife after a mysterious apocalyptic event turns everything to chaos. Theo James stars, along with Forest Whitaker, Kat Graham, Kerry Bishé, Mark O’Brien, Nicole Ari Parker, and Grace Dove. This pretty much came out of nowhere, so I’m not sure what to make of it. It seems like there’s some cool things going on here, but I really don’t have a good feeling. It’s worth a look just to check out another Netflix film. ›››

Heartfelt Trailer for Musician Biopic 'Blaze' Directed by Ethan Hawke

    Blaze Trailer

“You really should know who Blaze was…” IFC Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie musician biopic titled Blaze, telling the story of folk musicians Blaze Foley. The film is directed by Ethan Hawke (this is not his directorial debut, he has made a few films and a doc previously) and it first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year in competition. Ben Dickey stars as Blaze Foley, a musician originally from Arkansas, who is described as “the unsung songwriting legend of the Texas outlaw music movement that spawned the likes of Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson.” The full cast includes Alia Shawkat, Josh Hamilton, Laura Costine, and Charlie Sexton. The film won a Special Jury Award for Achievement in Acting at Sundance for Dickey’s performance, which looks quite impressive. This is definitely worth a watch. ›››

  • Official US Trailer for German Film 'The Captain' with Max Hubacher

Official US Trailer for German Film 'The Captain' with Max Hubacher

    The Captain Trailer

“With all the deserters, you never know who’s in the uniform.” Music Box Films has debuted an official US trailer for The Captain, a German film from last year about a deserter who discovers new powers when he is mistaken for a captain. After years making big Hollywood blockbusters (Flightplan, The Time Traveler’s Wife, RED, R.I.P.D., Insurgent), filmmaker Robert Schwentke returned to Germany to make this film. It’s a play on the Stanford Prison Experiment, where someone with power suddenly takes this power further than thought possible. Set in WWII, the film is about a German army deserter, played by Max Hubacher, who changes his ways when he suddenly has more power. The cast includes Milan Peschel, Frederick Lau, Bernd Hölscher, Waldemar Kobus, Alexander Fehling, Samuel Finzi, and Wolfram Koch. This looks really, really good – I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about this film until now. Take a look below. ›››

  • Ewan McGregor & Léa Seydoux in New Trailer for Sci-Fi Romance 'Zoe'

Ewan McGregor & Léa Seydoux in New Trailer for Sci-Fi Romance 'Zoe'

    Zoe Movie Trailer

“I wonder all the time if you think about me…” Amazon has debuted an official trailer for an intriguing sci-fi romance film titled Zoe, the latest film from filmmaker Drake Doremus (Like Crazy, Breathe In, Equals, Newness). This is about two people at a research lab who are designing technology to “improve and perfect romantic relationships”, but things go even further than they thought possible with a synthetic romance bot. Ewan McGregor stars, with Léa Seydoux playing the titular Zoe, and a cast including Rashida Jones, Theo James, Matthew Gray Gubler, Miranda Otto, Christina Aguilera, and Helen Johns. I really enjoy seeing Doremus play with love and how it all works, exploring it in unique and philosophical ways. He’s also great with visuals and intimate shots, but I’m curious if the rest of the film is as good as this looks. ›››

It’s a companion piece to Panton’s other supernatural short film Line Signal. Surveyor is about a surveyor who is hired to inspect an abandoned mansion for a client who is looking to renovate it. As you can suspect, when he arrives and begins his work he discovers there’s more to this mansion than expected. Spookiness ensues. The film stars Aidan Casey, Katie Villa, Alex Winters, Mike Wozniak, and Cromerty York. This is a good short set around one place with an eerie atmosphere. ›››
