Official US Trailer for Portuguese Horror 'The Forest of the Lost Souls'

The Forest of the Lost Souls Trailer

“Sadness will last forever.” Wild Eye Releasing has debuted an official US trailer for a Portuguese horror film titled The Forest of the Lost Souls, or originally A Floresta das Almas Perdidas in Portuguese. The psychological coming-of-age horror film is about two strangers who find themselves in the same “dense and remote forest”, a place where many people go to commit suicide. They continue talking and walking and start to learn more about each other, taking them down a path neither expected. The Forest of the Lost Souls stars Daniela Love and Jorge Mota, along with Mafalda Banquart, Lígia Roque, Lília Lopes, and Tiago Jácome. It’s hard to really figure out what’s going on in this trailer, but it looks like there might be something intriguing here. It also seems like there’s a major twist or two we’re not supposed to see coming. ›››

First Trailer for Desiree Akhavan's 'The Miseducation of Cameron Post'

The Miseducation of Cameron Post Trailer

“I’m tired of feeling disgusted with myself.” FilmRise has finally released the first official US trailer for The Miseducation of Cameron Post, the latest from talented filmmaker Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behavior), adapted from Emily M. Danforth’s celebrated novel. This film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the top Grand Jury Prize, even though it received mostly mediocre reviews. Chloë Grace Moretz stars in this as Cameron Post, a girl who is sent to a gay conversion therapy center after she is found kissing another girl. There she befriends the other kids and figures out how to live her own life, even though they’re trying hard to help her “pray away the gay”. The cast includes Jennifer Ehle, Quinn Shephard, Sasha Lane, Marin Ireland, John Gallagher Jr., Owen Campbell, Kerry Butler, Forrest Goodluck, and Steven Hauck. I saw this at Sundance and unfortunately I was quite let down, I really wish it was better than it is. Perhaps it will still connect with a few viewers out there. Check it. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Yet Another Exorcism Horror 'Along Came the Devil'

Official Trailer for Yet Another Exorcism Horror 'Along Came the Devil'

    Along Came the Devil Trailer

“Mom, are you here?!” Gravitas Ventures has debuted the first official trailer for a horror film titled Along Came the Devil, another new exorcism horror feature to go along with the 1,000 others we’ve seen in the last few years (including even William Friedkin’s The Devil and Father Amorth). Inspired by true events, Along Came the Devil stars Sydney Sweeney as a woman who is sent to live with her estranged Aunt Tanya. While there, she starts to contact the spirit world after having visions of her dead mother and she unleashes a great evil. The full cast includes Jessica Barth, Matt Dallas, Madison Lintz, Heather DeVan, and Bruce Davison. The trailer sells this hard as an “exorcism movie for a new generation”, but there’s nothing in here that makes me seem like it has anything new to offer. Maybe it’s just me. Take a look. ›››

  • Full Trailer for Romance 'Life Itself' Starring Oscar Isaac & Olivia Wilde

Full Trailer for Romance 'Life Itself' Starring Oscar Isaac & Olivia Wilde

    Life Itself Trailer

“Life itself tricks us. It misleads us… It paints one man a hero when he may well be a villain.” Amazon Studios has debuted the full-length trailer for a generational romantic drama titled Life Itself, written and directed by Dan Fogelman, creator of the NBC series “This Is Us”. This gorgeously, authentically emotional romantic drama stars Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde as a couple madly in love, and spans several decades of time examining passionate relationships and other interactions connected by a single “random moment.” It’s a “multi-generational and multi-layered portrait” of two families from America and Spain. The full cast includes Olivia Cooke, Mandy Patinkin, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Laia Costa, and Antonio Banderas. This looks great, I’m considerably excited about it, even though I feel like it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster of feelings good and bad. Because that’s just what life itself is about. Enjoy it. ›››

  • New Trailer for 4K Re-Release of Jacques Rivette's Classic 'The Nun'

New Trailer for 4K Re-Release of Jacques Rivette's Classic 'The Nun'

    The Nun Trailer

“Do you feel any stirrings?” Studiocanal UK has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming UK re-release of the French drama The Nun, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1966. Not to be confused with the horror movie also known as The Nun opening in theaters this summer. Jacques Rivette’s third feature didn’t win any awards at the time it was released, but did end up with rave reviews and is now considered a French classic. The Nun is getting 4K restoration and re-release, along with an obvious Blu-ray release as well. Set in the 18th century, the film is about a young girl who is sent to a convent against her will. When she asks to renounce her vows, she finds herself caught in a fatal trap. Anna Karina stars as Suzanne, “The Nun”, and the cast includes Liselotte Pulver, Micheline Presle, Francine Bergé, Francisco Rabal, and Christiane Lénier. It’s always great to see more classic films get restored and re-released once again. ›››

  • Welcome to Wonderland – Teaser Trailer for Animated 'Wonder Park'

Welcome to Wonderland – Teaser Trailer for Animated 'Wonder Park'

    Wonder Park Teaser Trailer

“Wonderland is now open!!” Paramount Animation has released the very first teaser trailer for their latest creation, an animated adventure movie titled Wonder Park taking us to a magical amusement park called Wonderland. There aren’t many details released about the story, other than it involves a “wildly creative girl named June” who brings this amusement park to life, somehow. This seems like it’s a mash-up of Zootopia and Tomorrowland, with the magic park and that world, plus all these talking animals. Brianna Denski voices June, and the primary cast includes Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Norbert Leo Butz, and Ken Hudson Campbell. I will admit that this looks very cool, but I’m still not sure what the plot even is. We’ll know more soon, I’m sure. Enjoy. ›››

  • Teaser Trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos' Wacky Comedy 'The Favourite'

Teaser Trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos' Wacky Comedy 'The Favourite'

    The Favourite Teaser Trailer

“I am the Queen!” “But you are mad.” Fox Searchlight has debuted a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new film from iconic Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth, Alps, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer). His new film is titled The Favourite, a vintage comedy of errors and wackiness. Set in early 18th century England, the film’s plot involves the frail Queen Anne, played by Olivia Colman, occupying the throne and her close friend Lady Sarah, played by Rachel Weisz (from The Lobster), governing the country in her stead. However, when the new servant Abigail, played by Emma Stone, arrives, her charm endears her to Sarah. The cast includes Nicholas Hoult, Joe Alwyn, Mark Gatiss, Jenny Rainsford, and James Smith. This looks like crazy fun and another totally wacky film from Lanthimos, who loves to mess with the audience as much as he messed with his characters. There’s some great laughs in this trailer. ›››

  • Trailer for Netflix's Animated 'White Fang' About an Alaskan Wolf Dog

Trailer for Netflix's Animated 'White Fang' About an Alaskan Wolf Dog

    White Fang Movie Trailer

“He’s got more teeth than brains.” Netflix has debuted an official trailer for the animated White Fang, an updated take on the classic Jack London novel. This “animated feature film is a touching, adventure-filled tale about the life of White Fang, a wolf dog who’s life unfolds from being a puppy in the wild to dog-fighting in Fort Yukon.” The film is made by a Spanish-Luxembourgish filmmaker and it originally comes from an animation company in France, which is why the original release title is Croc-Blanc. This US release from Netflix features an English-speaking voice cast with Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Paul Giamatti, and Eddie Spears. And it’s already available now to stream if you want to watch it. The watercolor-esque animation style for this works well for animals, but it makes the humans look so jagged. Still might be good. ›››
