    Chasing Niagara Trailer

“Is it worth it to possibly lose a friend?” Red Bull Media has unveiled a trailer for a documentary film called Chasing Niagara, profiling the life of “extreme kayaker” Rafa Ortiz and his dream of paddling over the Niagara Falls. The doc looks at the way he takes big risks to live a life on the edge, literally, kayaking over waterfalls and in places where no one has ever kayaked before. Of course Red Bull is releasing this film, it’s right up their alley. The footage is impressive as it seems they’ve captured some of the best shots they could of Rafa and his crew, including footage from cameras mounted to his helmet. I’m a big fan and supporter of adventure junkies and risk takers, and this looks like another exhilarating, inspiring doc about them. Enjoy. ›››

Watch: Trailer for Welsh Identical Twins Thriller 'The Library Suicides'

    The Library Suicides

“If you leave enough behind, then death isn’t the end.” Soda Pictures has debuted an official UK trailer for The Library Suicides, a film from Wales made entirely in the Welsh language. It’s adapted from Fflur Dafydd’s bestselling novel titled Y Llyfrgell, the original Welsh title, and it’s about two identical twin sisters who investigate the suicide (or potential murder) of their mother, who was a librarian at the National Library of Wales. Actress Catrin Stewart (best known from “Doctor Who” and “Stella”) plays dual roles as both daughters, and the cast also includes Dyfan Dwyfor, Ryland Teifi, Carwyn Glyn and Sharon Morgan. The way this trailer plays out, I would say it looks more fun than it does “thrilling”. Take a look. ›››

Keeping Up with the Joneses Trailer

“Who are these people?” 20th Century Fox has unveiled a trailer for Greg Mottola’s latest comedy, titled Keeping Up with the Joneses, which is almost a bit like Mr. & Mrs. Smith about a couple next door that are actually super spies. On the other side are Isla Fisher and Zach Galifianakis, an ordinary suburban couple that are in for a wild ride when they figure this out. Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot play the “covert operative” couple – whoever cast them did a perfect job. The cast includes Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh, Kevin Dunn and Maribeth Monroe. This looks like it should be harmless entertainment, right? Enjoy. ›››

The Girl With All The Gifts Trailer

“She saved me, and you’re still afraid of her?” Whoa! Where did this come from? Warner Bros in the UK has debuted a trailer for an adaptation of a book called The Girl With All The Gifts. The best way to describe this would be to call it a post-apocalyptic zombie movie meets the X-Men, with a young girl who has a special ability. She seems to be the best hope for the human race in a world overrun by the living dead. The movie stars Sennia Nanua, Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close and Paddy Considine. There are some fantastic shots in this trailer, and it sets up the story in a very thrilling way that makes me intrigued to find out more. I’d never heard of this before seeing the trailer, and now I’m more than interested. See below. ›››

    Les Cowboys Trailer

“How far would you go for family?” Cohen Media Group will be releasing the indie drama Les Cowboys starting this week in the US – check out the trailer and see the film. The modern French western is inspired by John Ford’s masterpiece The Searchers, about a family that goes out desperately searching for a missing daughter taken from their prairie town in the east of France. John C. Reilly appears as “L’Américain”, but it also stars François Damiens, Finnegan Oldfield, Agathe Dronne, Jean-Louis Coulloc’h, Ellora Torchia, Gilles Treton, Mounir Margoum, and many others. This looks quite impressive, and it looks like they end up somewhere in the Middle East, with excellent cinematography capturing all the locations. ›››

In Response to Chris Pine – Why 'Star Trek' Can Be Cerebral in 2016

    Star Trek - Chris Pine

Last week, Star Trek Beyond star Chris Pine was interviewed in SFX magazine promoting the latest space adventure in the sci-fi series. When asked why the most recent films in the Star Trek franchise have been more action-oriented than thought-provoking – something the series has been traditionally known for ever since its inception in 1966 – he responded: “You can’t make a cerebral Star Trek in 2016”. Well, I’m here to say you can. Let’s take a look at why that’s still possible. Pine’s intriguing quote encouraged me to write some of my own thoughts about the Star Trek franchise and how it can still be intelligent today. ›››

    War on Everything Trailer

“They’re gonna kick your ass… and get away with it.” Icon Film Distribution from the UK has debuted an official trailer for John Michael McDonagh’s War on Everyone, a wacky and totally absurd new comedy from the filmmaker behind Calvary and The Guard. Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña star as two corrupt cops in New Mexico who end up battling against a British Lord, played by Theo James, who comes to town for his own piece of the pie. This film received some rave reviews out of Berlinale and SXSW, where it premiered, and is the kind of totally wacky comedy that will have a few people falling out of their seats with laughter. This plays a red band trailer and it does a okay job teasing lots of the humor in this. Have fun. ›››
