“I want you to know, I did the best I could.” Warner Bros has unveiled a trailer for Clint Eastwood’s latest film, titled Sully, telling the “untold” true story of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, played by Tom Hanks. Captain Sully is the pilot who successfully and safely glided a malfunctioning US Airways airplane into the Hudson River in 2009 in order to save the lives of everyone onboard. The film also stars Aaron Eckhart as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Laura Linney as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger. This is an intriguing trailer, it cuts smoothly between the time after the landing and before, showing bits of Sully’s life leading up to and directly after. I really like the way this trailer plays out, looking forward to seeing this. ›››

“Well if that ain’t Texan, then I don’t know what is…” CBS Films has released another great trailer for the modern western Hell or High Water, directed by David Mackenzie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this summer. I saw the film there and it’s surprisingly fantastic, with an outstanding script by Taylor Sheridan (of Sicario previously) that drives strong performances from the entire cast. Chris Pine and Ben Foster star as brothers who decide to rob a couple of banks in small towns in Texas. Close to retirement, the Texas Ranger who decides to hunt them down is Marcus, played by Jeff Bridges. The cast includes Katy Mixon, Dale Dickey, Kevin Rankin, Marin Ireland and Gil Birmingham. I really dug this film, and I definitely recommend it, so if this trailer grabs your interest make sure to see it in theaters. ›››

Find your happy place. 20th Century Fox has debuted the first trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s newest movie titled Trolls, a feature version of those funky little toy trolls that you used to collect as kids. Maybe not you, but someone out there collected them. Believe it or not, the movie is actually a musical with songs written specifically for it – as heard in this trailer. Featuring original music from Justin Timberlake, the film stars the voice talent of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Russell Brand, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, Icona Pop, Gwen Stefani and many more. I like the way they show the actors actually dancing in the trailer, but the rest of this just seems wacky. It might be enjoyable? Have fun. ›››

Thankfully there’s no Rihanna song distracting from the movie, instead we get some impressive footage from this upcoming space adventure that looks like it may actually be much better than Into Darkness. The full cast includes all the returning Enterprise crew members: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin. Newcomers this time are Joe Taslim, Idris Elba, and Sofia Boutella as Jaylah. I’m really digging the epic feel of this one, bring it. ›››

“What do you want from me?” “Your past.” Get another glimpse at the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie in this new international trailer for the video game adaptation, starring Michael Fassbender as Aguilar, directed by Justin Kurzel. The first trailer hit just a few months ago, showing just a small tease of some of the parkour-esque action. This newest trailer has a few more bits of action hidden within, including a shot of Fassbender firing a bow & arrow and a big fight on a rooftop. The full cast includes Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Kenneth Williams, Callum Turner, as well as Ariane Labed as Maria. I actually think this looks quite cool, I’m looking forward to checking it out later this year. ›››

“We don’t know each other.” Film Movement has debuted an official US trailer for the upcoming release of Maïwenn’s My King, originally titled Mon roi, a French relationship drama starring Vincent Cassel & Emmanuelle Bercot. Bercot plays Tony, a woman who wakes up in a hospital after a serious ski accident and recounts her “turbulent relationship” with a man named Georgio. The full cast includes Louis Garrel, Isild Le Besco and Chrystèle Saint Louis Augustin. This is actually a solid trailer, using music to help enhance the emotions in each scene rather than dialogue. And the film seems like a very powerful look and romance and love and the troubles that come with passion. Worth a watch even if you’re unsure about this. ›››

“Secrets, sorrows, rancour…” The first official trailer has debuted online for the latest Xavier Dolan film, titled It’s Only the End of the World, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The film is based on a play and takes place mostly inside one home. Gaspard Ulliel stars as a man who returns to his childhood home with plans to tell his family about his upcoming death, but his return reignites tensions between everyone again. The full cast includes Nathalie Baye, Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard and Léa Seydoux. I’m a huge fan of Xavier Dolan, but I admit this might be my least favorite film he’s made. This new trailer provides a good sense of what to expect, including some of the tension between the family. ›››

“Children always know so much more than we think…” Lionsgate has revealed an intriguing trailer for a psychological thriller called The 9th Life of Louis Drax, adapted from Liz Jensen’s novel of the same name. The film tells the story of a boy who has survived eight near-death accidents throughout his strange life so far, and falls off of a cliff on his ninth birthday during a picnic with his parents, once again barely surviving. The cast features Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon, Aaron Paul, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker, Barbara Hershey, and Aiden Longworth as Louis Drax. There’s some really weird stuff going on in this that makes it look like much more than just any old thriller, and it’s worth taking a look at because it’s so fascinating. What’s up with this kid? I guess we’ll have to see this (or read the book) to find out. Take a look. ›››

Up-and-coming actor Thomas Middleditch (seen in Being Flynn, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Bronze, The Final Girls) stars in this film as a guy named Josh(y) and it takes place at his would-be bachelor party, after his wedding is cancelled, becoming his chance to reconnect with all of his old friends.
