Must Watch: Sing Along with Pete in New TV Spot for 'Pete's Dragon'

    Pete's Dragon TV Spot

“Look all around you and see… Deep in the forest, there dragons will be.” Oh my goodness, this looks soo wonderful. Disney has unveiled a new TV spot for David Lowery’s live-action take on Pete’s Dragon, and it’s an extended 60-second spot. Oakes Fegley plays Pete and we actually get to hear him singing in this trailer and it’s so magical it will make you smile instantly. There’s also a few new shots of Elliot the dragon, but this is really just an exciting little glimpse of the movie. The full cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Karl Urban, Robert Redford, Wes Bentley, Oona Laurence, Craig Hall and Isiah Whitlock Jr. It seems Disney is very confident with the movie that Lowery made, and is happy to start showing more and more of it leading up to the release later this summer. I’m pretty damn excited to see it myself, if I may say. ›››

Watch: Martin Sheen in First Trailer for Malick-Produced 'The Vessel'

    The Vessel Trailer

“Sometimes I think about how different things would be if that wave hadn’t just struck in the middle of the night…” Wow. The first trailer has debuted for a film called The Vessel, executive produced by Terrence Malick, from filmmaker Julio Quintana. Starring Martin Sheen, the film is about a Catholic priest in a Latin American town destroyed by a tsunami ten years ago. This trailer is filled with some stunning imagery reminiscent of Malick’s work and a tiny bit of the score by Hanan Townshend, the talented composer from Malick’s Knight of Cups and To the Wonder. Where did this film come from?! It looks amazing! Also starring Lucas Quintana, Jacqueline Duprey, and Aris Mejias. Don’t hesitate, just dive right into this. ›››

  • Jonah Hill & Miles Teller in New Trailer for Todd Phillips' 'War Dogs'

Jonah Hill & Miles Teller in New Trailer for Todd Phillips' 'War Dogs'

    War Dogs Trailer

“This isn’t about being pro-war, this is about being pro-money!” Warner Bros has unleashed the second trailer for a comedy called War Dogs (previously known as Arms and the Dudes), starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller as two kids who become drug runners selling weapons to various governments (including the US military). The full cast includes Bradley Cooper, Ana de Armas and Barry Livingston. The first trailer for this promised a hilarious and ridiculous comedy, and this new trailer ups the ante with even more craziness. I like the way this trailer is put together, the opening is engaging, the snap cuts are effective, the footage is amusing, great music, I’m totally sold on this movie. I just hope it’s as funny as it looks. Fire it up. ›››

  • Don't Watch: Second Red Band Trailer for Over-the-Top 'Bad Moms'

Don't Watch: Second Red Band Trailer for Over-the-Top 'Bad Moms'

    Bad Moms Comedy Trailer

“We have to take down these perfect moms.” STX Entertainment has debuted a new red band trailer for Jon Lucas & Scott Moore’s comedy Bad Moms, about three rebellious moms who decided to fight back against the ever-so-perfect moms in their neighborhood. See the first trailer here. Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn stars as the “bad moms”, facing off against Christina Applegate, Annie Mumolo, and Jada Pinkett Smith as the “perfect moms”. The cast also includes Jay Hernandez, Clark Duke, Oona Laurence and Megan Ferguson. There’s just something about this movie that annoys me, it’s so absurdly over-the-top and crass I can’t see anything about it that’s entertaining. But maybe that’s just me. Have at it. ›››

Don't Miss It – The First 'Art House Theater Day' Will Be This September

    Art House Theater Day

Three cheers for art house cinemas! Following in the footsteps of Record Store Day and Free Comic Book Day, an annual event will be taking place this September called “Art House Theater Day“. This special celebration of art house / independent cinemas will take place on September 24th, and this will be the inaugural year. The event has its own official website with details and theater listings, but we’re not exactly sure if it will involve free screenings of movies. Maybe, but it’s up to every individual theater to figure out what they’re doing for AHTD. We’ve always been big supporters of art house cinemas and movie theaters of all sizes, and it’s great to see a nationwide coordinated event to celebrate them. Add it to your calendar now. ›››

  • James Franco & Bryan Cranston Battle in First Trailer for 'Why Him?'

James Franco & Bryan Cranston Battle in First Trailer for 'Why Him?'

    Why Him? Trailer

Of all the guys his daughter could have chosen… Why Him? 20th Century Fox has debuted a trailer for the new comedy Why Him?, about a father dealing with the totally insane boy that his charming daughter has chosen to marry. Bryan Cranston stars as the father, and James Franco stars as the boy – a tattoo-covered “internet billionaire”, with Zoey Deutch as his daughter. The full cast includes Megan Mullally, Keegan-Michael Key, Griffin Gluck, Andrew Rannells, Casey Wilson and Zack Pearlman. I get what they’re going for with this, but some of the scenes in this are excruciatingly bad. That said, the battles between Cranson and Franco might be amusing. Give the red band trailer a whirl and tell us what you think. ›››

  • Watch: Ellen Page Takes a Baby in Official Trailer for Indie 'Tallulah'

Watch: Ellen Page Takes a Baby in Official Trailer for Indie 'Tallulah'

    Tallulah Trailer

“That’s just no way to live, she needs you…” Netflix has debuted the official trailer for an indie film called Tallulah, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Ellen Page stars as Tallulah, a struggling homeless woman who ends up with an impromptu babysitting job for a wealthy, careless mother and takes the baby for herself. This is a drama but has some good levity in it, as you’ll see in this trailer. Tallulah is trying to do the right thing by actually giving the baby genuine love and care, which her real mother was not providing. Also starring Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard, Zachary Quinto, John Benjamin Hickey and Uzo Aduba. It’s a solid film, with a strong performance by Ellen Page. Take a look. ›››

Must Watch: First Trailer for Terrence Malick's Doc 'Voyage of Time'

    Voyage of Time Documentary Trailer

“The universe… billions of years in the making.” Four decades in the making, it’s time to finally experience Terrence Malick’s new documentary Voyage of Time later this year. The first trailer has debuted online for the epic IMAX documentary which spans the entirety of time as we know it – from the big bang and the beginning of the universe to the dinosaur age to the age of humans. The description claims this initial release will only be 40 minutes, featuring Brad Pitt narration, when it hits IMAX theaters this October. Hopefully there’s a longer version that will be released down the line, but for now this is an exciting look at what’s to come. This trailer features footage of galaxies being created and cells being formed and animals taking shape, and it looks so mesmerizing. I can’t wait to see this! Bring on Malick’s journey through time. ›››
