Another Attempt to Get Inside in 'My Scientology Movie' Doc Trailer

    My Scientology Movie Trailer

“We have their attention.” Following Alex Gibney’s fascinating investigative film Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, Magnolia has debuted an official trailer for a documentary titled My Scientology Movie, starring documentary “maverick” Louis Theroux, mostly seen in his own TV series from the UK. Theroux heads to Los Angeles and begins his own investigation into the Church of Scientology, encountering all kinds of wacky people and aggressive resistance. This one is a bit different than Going Clear in that it’s a personal story about one guy hoping to get his own peek inside Scientology, but of course they won’t let that happen. This definitely does look “entertaining”, I’m just wondering if it reveals any new info on this “cult”. ›››

Teaser Trailer for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Trailer

“Find Sparrow for me, and relay a message from Captain Salazar, and tell him: ‘Death will come straight for him.’” Disney has debuted the first teaser trailer for the next sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This teaser focuses primarily on Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, who commands an army of ghost pirates. Captain Jack, played again by Johnny Depp, must find the trident of Poseidon in order to defeat him. This is directed by the two Norwegian filmmakers who made the fantastic film Kon-Tiki. Not surprising based on current events, Depp is not in this trailer, instead they actually set him up as a “wanted” man. The full cast includes Brenton Thwaites (seen in this), Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, David Wenham, Kevin McNally, Golshifteh Farahani and surprises from past films. Enjoy. ›››

Fantastic Fest Review: 'A Monster Calls' Strikes All the Right Chords

    A Monster Calls Review

A Monster Calls seems to have one goal in mind and one goal alone. That is, to deprive audiences of the contents of their tear ducts and make them a sobbing mess. Some might call it manipulative, but that’s not really anything new for director J.A. Bayona, who has previously swept audiences up with the emotionally draining The Orphanage and The Impossible. With A Monster Calls, though, the emotion is genuine, and the director, working off a screenplay from Patrick Ness adapting his own novel, twines magnificent fantasy with authentic drama to make a heart-wrenching, cinematic experience. It helps that the cast, led by Lewis MacDougall and the voice of Liam Neeson, is so spot on and committed to the subject at hand. A Monster Calls is a wonderful film that shouldn’t be passed up by any audience member of any age. ›››

Full US Trailer for Lucile Hadzihalilovic's Body Horror Film 'Evolution'

    Lucile Hadzihalilovic's Evolution Trailer

“I’m going to count to ten… and then it’ll be over.” IFC Midnight has released a new trailer for the film Evolution, a mysterious sci-fi meets body horror film from France that first premiered at film festivals last year. In the film, Max Brebant stars as Nicholas, a boy living in a mysterious, isolated seaside clinic who uncovers the sinister purposes of his keepers. We first featured a teaser trailer for this film in late 2015, and it’s finally going to be released later this year for those interesed. The full cast includes Roxane Duran, Julie-Marie Parmentier, and Mathieu Goldfeld. This definitely looks weird and freaky and confusing, but still mesmerizing to watch, with plenty of “haunting, otherworldly images of a nightmare.” Take a look. ›››

Watch: First Two Trailers for Russian Alien Arrival Movie 'Attraction'

    Attraction Trailer

Whoa! This looks cool. A new teaser trailer has debuted for a Russian alien invasion/arrival movie called Attraction. We’ve also added the original teaser along with the new trailer, since this is the first time we’ve encountered this film. There’s some awesome footage in this, mainly the original arrival and crash in a city. The ship design is incredibly unique, and I love the way it looks as it crashes down. The film stars Oleg Menshikov, Alexander Petrov, Rinal Mukhametov and Irina Starshenbaum. It’s made by the same guy who made Stalingrad and will be presented in IMAX 3D (at least in Russia) when it opens. The newest teaser actually reveals the aliens, which are huge creatures without a discernible face, making me even more intrigued. Along with Guardians, there are some impressive action movies coming out of Russia these days. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Chris McCoy's Ensemble Sex Comedy 'Good Kids'

Official Trailer for Chris McCoy's Ensemble Sex Comedy 'Good Kids'

    Good Kids Trailer

“It should be us together!” Vertical Entertainment has released a trailer for the ensemble comedy Good Kids, about four high school kids looking to redefine themselves after graduation. This cheesy sex comedy is about a bunch of kids trying to figure out what to do with themselves after they get out of school, mostly who to hook up with. Starring Zoey Deutch, Nicholas Braun, Israel Broussard, Mateo Arias, Julia Garner, Ashley Judd and Demián Bichir. I’m sure we all know this, but Zoey Deutch looks a lot like Isla Fisher, though doesn’t seem nearly as funny. This doesn’t look that good, but if you’re curious give it a shot. ›››

  • First US Trailer for Assayas' 'Personal Shopper' with Kristen Stewart

First US Trailer for Assayas' 'Personal Shopper' with Kristen Stewart

    Personal Shopper Trailer

“We made this oath – whoever died first would send the other a sign.” IFC has released an official trailer for the latest film from French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, titled Personal Shopper, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. This sorta-horror film deals with a young women who is haunted by a ghost through text messages (seriously). She works as a “personal shopper” for a famous celebrity, picking up clothes all over Europe for her to wear. The cast includes Lars Eidinger, Sigrid Bouaziz, Anders Danielsen Lie, Ty Olwin, Hammou Graia, Nora Van Waldstatten, and Benjamin Biolay. This will likely be a very polarizing film, as it’s not really the typical horror most expect, but does have a chilling side. ›››

  • First Trailer for Netflix's 'True Memoirs of an International Assassin'

First Trailer for Netflix's 'True Memoirs of an International Assassin'

True Memoirs of an International Assassin

“Or… is it so beyond stupid, it’s brilliant? He might actually be the real dude!” Netflix has debuted a trailer for a new comedy titled True Memoirs of an International Assassin, which they produced as a Netflix Original Film. Kevin James stars as an author named Sam Larson who gets mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. The concept is amusing, but not sure if Kevin James is the best fit for this, though I’m sure he was involved in the deal early on. The full cast features Andy Garcia as “El Toro”, Maurice Compte, Kim Coates, Kelen Coleman, Emilie Ullerup and Yul Vazquez. There are a few cringe-worthy moments in this, the rest doesn’t look that bad. ›››

Must Watch: Adam Driver in First Trailer for Jim Jarmusch's 'Paterson'

    Paterson Trailer

“Without love, what reason is there for anything?” Bleecker Street Media & Amazon Studios have debuted a trailer for one of the best films this year – Jim Jarmusch’s Paterson. I totally adore this film, I saw it twice at the Cannes Film Festival because I loved it so much, and it’ll definitely be in my Top 10. Paterson stars Adam Driver as a humble bus driver living in Paterson, New Jersey with his wife, played by the wonderful Golshifteh Farahani. During his free time he writes poems, and it turns out he’s immensely talented even though he doesn’t really realize it. I wrote in my glowing review in Cannes that the film is “poetic perfection, superbly realized. Cinema at its very finest.” This also stars William Jackson Harper and Masatoshi Nagase. Be warned – this trailer shows way TOO much of the film, but it’s still worth seeing no matter what. ›››

New IMAX Trailer for 'Jack Reacher: Never Go Back' with Tom Cruise

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back IMAX Trailer

“Who the hell are you?” “I’m the guy you didn’t count on…” Paramount has unleashed an action-packed, 90-second IMAX trailer for the sequel Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, bringing back Tom Cruise as the iconic character Jack Reacher from Lee Child’s books. He’s joined by actress Cobie Smulders as Susan Turner, along with a cast including Robert Knepper, Aldis Hodge and Holt McCallany. We’ve already seen a couple of trailers for this already, and it looks like just another generic action movie, I have to say. I’m hoping that there’s something more to it, but ending a trailer on a big explosion isn’t really grabbing my interest anymore. I’m a fan of Tom Cruise and I hope he kicks ass in this, just not sold on all the footage yet. ›››
