New Red Band Trailer for Action Movie 'Sleepless' Starring Jamie Foxx

    Sleepless Red Band Trailer

“I’m gunna make this right.” Open Road Films has unveiled one final red band trailer for Sleepless, the American remake of the French action film Sleepless Night. This violent action movie stars Jamie Foxx as an undercover cop who angrily heads into a nightclub to search for his kidnapped son. The cast features Michelle Monaghan, David Harbour, Dermot Mulroney, Gabrielle Union, Scoot McNairy, T.I. and Sala Baker. This isn’t much of a red band trailer, there is barely anything to it, which is probably a metaphor for this movie. Early word is that it’s really bad. You’re better off just watching the original film. ›››

  • Trailer for 'Manifesto' Feature Film Starring Cate Blanchett in 13 Roles

Trailer for 'Manifesto' Feature Film Starring Cate Blanchett in 13 Roles

    Manifesto Trailer

A trailer has debuted for Manifesto, a feature film version of an epic video installation project featuring 13 different characters reciting manifestos written by famous artists. Cate Blanchett stars in the 13 different vignettes, which feature characters reciting and performing scenes based on manifestos written by artists, architects, and filmmakers. The film is premiering at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival coming up, but was also on display in New York and Berlin before. I’ve actually already seen all these segments individually, and they’re incredible. Blanchett is phenomenal and brings so much nuance to each and every performance. This is more of an experimental art film than a narrative feature, but it’s worth watching just for Blanchett alone. ›››

    DGA Nominations - Denis Villeneuve

As we continue into the awards season in early 2017, more guilds are announcing their nominees/awards for the outstanding films of 2016. Next up is the Directors Guild of America, one of the heavy weights and usually strong indicators of what’s to come. The DGA announced nominees for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film 2016, and they’ve chosen a very unique set of nominees this year. The biggest upset seems to be Garth Davis sneaking in a nomination for Lion, but I’ve seen Lion and it’s a great film, though not one of my favorites. I’m very happy to see Dan Trachtenberg of 10 Cloverfield Lane getting a nomination, as well as Damien Chazelle, Denis Villeneuve & Barry Jenkins. Congrats to all! Full list below. ›››

New TV Spot for 'John Wick: Chapter 2' + Symphony of Violence Video

John Wick: Chapter 2 TV Spot

“You stabbed the Devil in the back.” Lionsgate has revealed a new TV spot for action sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, arriving in theaters in a month. Keanu Reeves returns as the legendary unkillable assassin John Wick, who has to fight off countless more foes in Rome after taking out the Russian mobsters in the original. Featuring Ian McShane as Winston, with Ruby Rose, Bridget Moynahan, Peter Stormare, John Leguizamo, Thomas Sadoski, David Patrick Kelly, Common, Lance Reddick returning as Charon, and Laurence Fishburne. This new TV spot is awesome, and they’ve also released a “symphony of violence” supercut containing mostly footage from the first movie, but it’s still quite fun to watch. Enjoy. ›››

  • Watch: New UK Trailer for Lone Scherfig's WWII-Set Film 'Their Finest'

Watch: New UK Trailer for Lone Scherfig's WWII-Set Film 'Their Finest'

    Their Finest Trailer

“Between us – we’ll have them weeping in the aisles.” An official UK trailer has debuted for the latest film from acclaimed director Lone Scherfig, of the films The Riot Club, One Day and An Education (one of my favorites). Her latest is a WWII-set comedy titled Their Finest about a British film crew that attempts to boost morale by making a propaganda film after the Blitzkrieg. Gemma Arterton stars as a writer, along with an impressive ensemble including Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy, Jack Huston, Paul Ritter, Rachael Stirling, Richard E. Grant, Henry Goodman, Jake Lacy, Jeremy Irons, Eddie Marsan and Helen McCrory. This is also playing at the Sundance Film Festival coming up, and it looks like it’s worth catching. ›››

  • Michael Pena & Dax Shepard in First Official Trailer for 'CHiPs' Movie

Michael Pena & Dax Shepard in First Official Trailer for 'CHiPs' Movie

    CHiPs Movie Trailer

“What’s your job?” “Find the dirty cops.” Warner Bros has released the first trailer for a big screen version of the TV show CHiPs, about two California Highway Patrolmen assigned as partners and their crazy antics. Dax Shepard directs himself in the comedy, co-starring Michael Pena, as well as Jessica McNamee, Adam Brody, Ryan Hansen, Vincent D’Onofrio, Justin Chatwin and Kristen Bell. This seems a bit like a mix of Reno 911 and Super Troopers, following in the footsteps of 21 Jump Street rebooting a TV show about cops into an all-out action comedy. This does look fun, and not as bad as I was expecting, but not sure how good it will be. I’m getting tired of all these old TV show updates, but that’s just me. Have a look below. ›››

Watch: First Trailer for Horror Anthology 'XX' Directed by Four Women

    XX Horror Anthology Trailer

“Four deadly tales by four killer women.” Magnolia Pictures has debuted an official trailer for the horror anthology titled XX, featuring four different horror segments directed by four badass women. The film is premiering at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in just a few weeks in the Park City at Midnight category, and is one of our most anticipated films at the fest. The four segments are: The Birthday Party directed by Annie Clark; Her Only Living Son directed by Karyn Kusama; Don’t Fall directed by Roxanne Benjamin; and The Box directed by Jovanka Vuckovic. The various casts include Melanie Lynskey, Sheila Vand, Mike Doyle, Natalie Brown, Angela Trimbur and Kyle Allen. This looks awesome! I’m most excited for The Box segment, but all of these look creepy and fun. Bring on the creative horror. Enjoy! ›››

Editorial: Warner Bros Needs to Expand the DCEU Beyond Batman

    Ben Affleck - Batman

At the climax of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman has literally fallen into the arms of his love, Lois Lane. The ending is far from romantic, however, as Batman and Wonder Woman stand beside the slain hero, heads bowed mournfully. Who knew this downer of an ending would signify more than just defeated heroes, it also acts as an analogy for the entire trajectory of DC Comics on film. By the time Suicide Squad rolled around, you could argue the DC Extended Universe had been put on suicide watch. For Ben Affleck, what started as a co-starring role has morphed into possibly being the DCEU’s only saving grace. ›››

  • Trailer for Korean Action Film 'Fabricated City' About a Framed Gamer

Trailer for Korean Action Film 'Fabricated City' About a Framed Gamer

    Fabricated City Trailer

“When they step into reality, the real game begins.” CJ Entertainment has released an official international trailer (with English subtitles) for an epic Korean action film called Fabricated City. The story follows a nerdy, uber-gamer who is the “best leader” online with his gamer friends. But he is framed for the murder of a young woman, so he teams up with his gamer/hacker friends to try and solve the case and clear his name. Starring Ji Chang-wook, Shim Eun-Kyung, and Oh Jung-se. So this actually looks pretty damn cool, there’s some crazy action in it, and the Koreans certainly know how to make edgy but fun thrillers. Game on. ›››
