New Poster + New Promo Video for Guy Ritchie's 'King Arthur' Movie

    King Arthur Movie

“From nothing comes a King.” Warner Bros has unveiled a new promo spot + gritty poster for Guy Ritchie’s new take on the King Arthur: Legend of the Sword story, hitting theaters in May this summer (after being delayed from release originally in March). This short TV spot features some very cool POV footage as well as some epic shots from the movie, which actually makes more interested in this than I was after the first trailer. Charlie Hunnam stars as the new King Arthur with a cast including Jude Law, Annabelle Wallis, Katie McGrath, Eric Bana, Djimon Hounsou, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Tom Wu, as well as Aidan Gillen. I’m still not sure if it will actually be any good, but I’m intrigued by the new footage. Enjoy. ›››

Sundance 2017: Complex Storytelling in Superb Snow Noir 'Wind River'

    Wind River Film

I’m just going to come right out and say it here right at the beginning – Taylor Sheridan is one of the best screenwriters working today. It’s not even debatable. And with Wind River, he shows that he is just as capable and talented at directing as well. Wind River is the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (of Sicario and Hell or High Water previously) telling a riveting murder mystery in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. Sheridan’s screenplay is brilliant, filled with metaphors and truthful characters and twists and turns and thrilling moments, all intertwined within themes of grief and vengeance and survival and good-vs-evil. It’s topped off by fine performances from the entire cast, making this an invigorating film. ›››

Sundance 2017: 'The Discovery' is Stirring Cinema for Intelligent Minds

    The Discovery

What would you do, how would you change your life, if there was definitive scientific proof that there is life after death? That is the pivotal question at the heart of The Discovery, the new film from writer/director Charlie McDowell (of The One I Love previously). McDowell is an immensely talented filmmaker proving with this new film that he is making cinema for intelligent minds. The kind of uber-intelligent films which challenge audiences to examine their own choices while also asking very big (often unanswerable) questions about the world around us. The Discovery is a deep, very deep, film that earns appropriate comparisons to Primer and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and if that interests you, it is definitely worth your time. ›››

First Official Trailer for 'I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore'

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore

“So furious!” Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the feature directorial debut of actor Macon Blair (seen in Green Room and Blue Ruin) titled I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. The film just premiered last night at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival to mostly rave reviews from many critics. It’s a cathartic comedy-revenge-thriller about a woman played by Melanie Lynskey who goes after the people who broke into her house, but its gets extra violent and totally twisted at times. It’s a fun film, with plenty of laughs, but it’s not better than Blue Ruin even though it’s quite similar. Also starring Elijah Wood, Jane Levy, Christine Woods, David Yow, Devon Graye, Robert Longstreet & Lee Eddy. Worth a watch. ›››

The Most Beautiful Shots in The History of Disney

Need a bit of inspiration today? Need something to take your mind off of the bad things in the world? Watch this. You’ll have a big smile by the end. Jorge Luengo Ruiz has put together a fantastic video compilation of “The Most Beautiful Shots in The History of Disney“. He features some of the best cinematography and most beautiful moments from Disney movies, ranging from Pinocchio and Fantasia all the way up to Big Hero 6 and Moana from last year. I appreciate that this only uses footage from actual Disney movies, and not Pixar movies (because that would be a video of its own), because they have so many stellar movies. ›››

Adam Sandler as a Talent Manager in Teaser Trailer for 'Sandy Wexler'

    Sandy Wexler Trailer

Netflix has released a very short teaser trailer for a new comedy from Adam Sandler called Sandy Wexler, made by the director of Little Nicky. Adam Sandler plays a talent manager working in Los Angeles in the 1990s, representing a group of eccentric clients on the fringes of show business. He ends up falling in love with a new client, a singer, who he discovers an amusement park. Jennifer Hudson plays the singer, and the cast includes Kevin James, Terry Crews, Lamorne Morris, Nick Swardson, Rob Schneider, Jane Seymour, Carl Weathers & Arsenio Hall. This is a very short teaser, and it’s probably more than enough, because Sandler’s Netflix comedies are really terribel and should be avoided. This seems the same. ›››

His latest is a film called Colossal, a metaphorical action thriller starring Anne Hathaway. The concept is odd in that she basically becomes a giant monster that terrorizes Seoul, South Korea. The cast includes Dan Stevens, Jason Sudeikis, Tim Blake Nelson, Austin Stowell, Rukiya Bernard, and Agam Darshi. This premiered at festivals last year, but is also playing at Sundance this month.
