    The Beguiled Trailer

“If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?” “To be taken far away from here…” Focus Features has unveiled the teaser trailer for Sofia Coppola’s latest film, titled The Beguiled, adapted from Thomas Cullinan’s Southern Gothic novel. Set during the Civil War, an injured Union soldier ends up being nursed back to life inside a girls’ boarding school in the Confederate south. Colin Farrell plays the soldier, and the cast includes Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, and Oona Laurence. While at first this seems like a simple love story, the twist is that the girls eventually turn on him, and there’s that crazy funny line that Farrell shouts at the end of this trailer that is already being turned into a meme online. ›››

First Teaser Trailer for Eerie Backwoods Horror 'It Comes at Night'

    It Comes at Night Trailer

“I didn’t touch the door… It was already open.” A24 has revealed the first teaser trailer for an eerie horror-thriller titled It Comes at Night, the second feature film from Trey Edward Shults, the director of last year’s Krisha. Joel Edgerton stars, along with Riley Keough, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Griffin Robert Faulkner. The film is a horror taking place at a desolate home in the wilderness, where a father tries to protect his wife and son from a malevolent, mysterious presence terrorizing them right outside their doorstep. This is a very effective teaser that uses peculiar imagery and chilling dialogue to intrigue viewers, without actually revealing any of the scary stuff. They got my attention. ›››

Fun First Trailer for 'The LEGO Ninjago Movie' Featuring Jackie Chan

    The LEGO Ninjago Movie

“Are you ready to risk your life for Ninjago?” Warner Bros has debuted the first full trailer for The LEGO Ninjago Movie, showing in front of The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters this weekend. This latest LEGO Movie from Warner Animation Group tells the story of six young ninjas who must defend their island home called Ninjago. Jackie Chan voices Sensei Wu, their master and teacher. The rest of the voice cast includes Olivia Munn, Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Abbi Jacobson, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Fred Armisen, and Justin Theroux as the evil Garmadon. This actually looks quite fun, and if it’s as good as the other two LEGO Movies, even better. The other exciting news – this will be out in theaters later this year. ›››

First Trailer for Oren Moverman's 'The Dinner' Premiering at Berlinale

    The Dinner Trailer

The Orchard has revealed the first official trailer for an indie drama titled The Dinner, which is premiering at the Berlin Film Festival starting this week. The Dinner is the latest film from director Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart, Time Out of Mind), adapted from the novel by Herman Koch. The film is about two couples that meet at a restaurant for dinner, discussing a situation involving their children. It’s a look at how far parents will go to protect their children. The two couples are: Richard Gere & Rebecca Hall and Steve Coogan & Laura Linney. Also featuring Chloë Sevigny, Charlie Plummer, Adepero Oduye and Joel Bissonnette. There is obviously more going on here than just a dinner, I’m curious to see this. ›››

Watch: Adorably Violent 'Dog Wick' Spoof Trailer from RocketJump

    Dog Wick

“They messed with the wrong dog.” Yes, they definitely did! In honor of the highly anticipated release of John Wick: Chapter 2 this week, the guys at RocketJump have made this hilarious spoof trailer for Dog Wick. John Wick loves his dog, and if you even so much as try to hurt his dog, he will totally mess you up. Dog Wick re-imagines a movie where Wick’s dog takes revenge after his beloved owner is killed. And this dog is a serious killer, highly skilled with firearms, so watch out. We don’t often post spoof trailers, but this one is worth making an exception for – mostly because we love dogs, and it’s an amusing, well-made spoof for one of our favorite action movies. Don’t miss John Wick: Chapter 2 in theaters this week! It’s awesome. ›››

“I would like for someone to say that they’re sorry for killing my family.” Lionsgate Premiere has released a trailer for a film titled Aftermath, about the lives of two people intertwined after an airplane accident. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a father who struggles with grief after his wife and daughter are killed in a plane crash. Scoot McNairy plays an air traffic controller who makes an error that leads to the accident. The cast includes Maggie Grace, Kevin Zegers, Hannah Ware, Glenn Morshower, and Mariana Klaveno. In addition, Darren Aronofsky is listed as a producer on the film, along with his co-producing partner Scott Franklin. This looks quite solid, even though it seems like such a sad story for everyone in this. ›››

  • Damien Chazelle & Garth Davis Win the 2017 Directors Guild Awards

Damien Chazelle & Garth Davis Win the 2017 Directors Guild Awards

    Directors Guild Awards

Two big wins for two young directors. Over the weekend, the 69th Annual DGA Awards were announced. As expected, La La Land director Damien Chazelle won the main prize for Best Director, meaning he’ll likely go on to win the Oscar. Lion director Garth Davis won the award for Best First Feature. The Directors Guild Awards are one of the top awards in Hollywood, and it’s exciting to see Damien Chazelle win. This is is his first nomination, and his first win, despite getting lots of attention for Whiplash he didn’t make the cut that year. I’m surprised to see Davis win for Lion, but Lion seems to be the sleeper favorite in Hollywood that many people are voting for. Congrats to both Damien and Garth, both first time nominees and winners. ›››

  • Super Bowl Spot for 'Baywatch' Starring Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron

Super Bowl Spot for 'Baywatch' Starring Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron

    Baywatch Super Bowl TV Spot

“While you’re watching the game, they are watching the bay.” Paramount has debuted a Super Bowl TV spot for the summer comedy version of Baywatch, the movie, from director Seth Gordon. This is a fairly tame TV spot, just selling all the attractive guys and girls that are in this more than anything. Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson play two Baywatch lifeguards; also starring Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Pamela Anderson, Ilfenesh Hadera, Charlotte McKinney, Kelly Rohrbach, Hannibal Buress, plus of course David Hasselhoff. I’m still hoping this turns out okay, but this TV spot is not an impressive sell for this movie. You have to take a look at this anyway just because it stars Dwayne Johnson. ›››

Watch: Super Bowl TV Spot for F. Gary Gray's 'The Fate of the Furious'

The Fate of the Furious TV Spot

“You guys are going to work together.” Universal has debuted their official Super Bowl TV spot for F. Gary Gray’s The Fate of the Furious, following up the first trailer, from December, for this sequel. This new spot has plenty of totally cheesy footage, but of course fans will eat it up anyway. Vin Diesel leads the way, with a cast including Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, plus two newcomers: Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. This ends with a submarine and a missile evasion action scene, I mean come on, how absurd is that. Of course it has to be this crazy, why not. The wrecking ball scene looks like it will be fun, but I’m not so sure about the sub. Who’s excited to see this? ›››

Watch: Extended Super Bowl Spot for 'Pirates: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

“The dead have taken command of the sea.” Disney has unveiled a brand new, extended Super Bowl TV spot for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the latest epic Pirates sequel bringing back Captain Jack for another adventure. This one is directed by the two Norwegian filmmakers who made the fantastic film Kon-Tiki. The first teaser was all about introducing Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, but this time we get a few good shots of Geoffrey Rush back as Barbossa coming face-to-face with Salazar. The full cast includes Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, David Wenham, Kevin McNally, Golshifteh Farahani + other surprises from past films. They’re obviously still keeping Johnny Depp out of these trailers as much as possible, it seems, but he finally shows up in this one. Have a look. ›››
