Watch: Dan Stevens Stars in Official Trailer for Indie Film 'The Ticket'

    The Ticket Trailer

“Like you wouldn’t have done the same thing if you had the chance…” Shout Factory has debuted a trailer for an indie drama titled The Ticket, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. The Ticket stars Dan Stevens (who can be seen as the Beast in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast movie) as a blind man who regains his vision, only to find himself becoming metaphorically blinded by his obsession for the superficial. The full cast includes Malin Akerman, Kerry Bishé, Oliver Platt, Liza J. Bennett, Peter Mark Kendall and Ekaterina Samsonov. This looks like a very deep, dark, depressing drama addressing some heavy themes of passion and obsession and ambition. Haven’t heard much about it, but seems intense. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Jay Baruchel's Sequel 'Goon: Last of the Enforcers'

Second Trailer for Jay Baruchel's Sequel 'Goon: Last of the Enforcers'

    Goon: Last of the Enforcers

“You smell like hot dogs.” “Thank you.” eOne in Canada has debuted a new full-length trailer for the hockey comedy sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers, bringing back another unkillable hitman for more non-stop action – Doug Glatt. Seann William Scott returns as Glatt picking up where the story left off in Goon, as he plans to retire from hockey (and fighting) but ends up back on the ice again, being trained for left-handed fighting by none other than Ross Rhea himself – Liev Schreiber. The full cast includes Elisha Cuthbert, Liev Schreiber, Alison Pill, T.J. Miller, Wyatt Russell, Marc-André Grondin, Jason Jones and Kim Coates. This actually looks pretty damn good, looking forward to seeing it sometime this year. Dive in. ›››

New Trailer for 'David Lynch: The Art Life' Doc on Lynch's Early Years

David Lynch: The Art Life Doc Trailer

“Sickness. Corruption. Fear in the air. It was so good for me.” Janus Films has debuted a new trailer for the documentary titled David Lynch: The Art Life, a look at the life and work of American director David Lynch. Lynch is beloved by critics & cinephiles for his films like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr. and Inland Empire. This doc premiered at the Venice and London Film Festivals last year, and should be arriving in theaters this spring. The film focuses mostly on his early years and many of the various inspirations and moments of his life that made him into the artist he is today. This looks fascinating and totally weird, which is just about right to tell the story of David Lynch. Check out the new footage below. ›››

  • Trailer for Romantic Comedy 'The Wedding Plan' Playing This Summer

Trailer for Romantic Comedy 'The Wedding Plan' Playing This Summer

    The Wedding Plan Trailer

“What about your heart?” Roadside Attractions has debuted a trailer for a romantic comedy indie film titled The Wedding Plan, from director Rama Burshtein (Fill the Void). This is one of those perfectly cheesy romantic comedy concepts that actually looks somewhat enjoyable. A woman begins planning her elaborate wedding, until the groom backs out. But she decides to go ahead with the wedding anyway, in hopes that the right man will appear within the 30 days left until the big day. Israeli actress Noa Kooler stars as the lead character Michal, with a huge ensemble cast including Amos Tamam, Oz Zehavi, Irit Sheleg, Ronny Merhavi, Dafi Alpern, Karin Serrouya and Erez Drigues. This may actually be worth a watch. Enjoy. ›››

  • Review: 'John Wick: Chapter 2' is a Perfect, Blood-Soaked Action Sequel

Review: 'John Wick: Chapter 2' is a Perfect, Blood-Soaked Action Sequel

    John Wick: Chapter 2

John Wick can come back any time he damn well pleases. That was the message delivered by the 2014 action hit that not only saw the eponymous assassin returning to his death-dealing ways, it was a return of sorts for the film’s star, Keanu Reeves. Keanu is back, John Wick is back, and the film that follows, John Wick: Chapter 2, is a perfect, action-packed, bullet-riddled, blood-soaked sequel. The follow-up does precisely what a sequel should do. It’s bigger than its predecessor, and more elaborate than the efficient, streamlined actioner it follows. It isn’t necessarily better. That would truly be an impossible task, but John Wick: Chapter 2 delivers on all this new franchise promises, an action extravaganza that keeps us amped for more. ›››

  • First Official Trailer for CIA Thriller 'Unlocked' Starring Noomi Rapace

First Official Trailer for CIA Thriller 'Unlocked' Starring Noomi Rapace

    Unlocked Trailer

“We need your skill set. We need you back on the frontline.” An official UK trailer has debuted for the CIA thriller titled Unlocked, from veteran English director Michael Apted. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace stars in this as a CIA interrogator who is lured into a ruse that puts London at risk of a big biological attack. Orlando Bloom also co-stars as an MI5 agent she works with to help figure out what’s going on. The full cast also includes Michael Douglas, Toni Collette, Akshay Kumar, and John Malkovich. This looks like it has some solid action, along with intriguing espionage twists, but I’m not expecting it to be that great. It gets badass when Noomi busts her way out with two silenced pistols, but that seems to be only one scene. ›››

  • New Red Band Trailer for Malcolm D. Lee's Party Comedy 'Girls Trip'

New Red Band Trailer for Malcolm D. Lee's Party Comedy 'Girls Trip'

    Girls Trip Red Band Trailer

“We gunna be staying up late, drinking, and making memories that we can laugh about for the rest of our lives.” Universal has revealed a crazy new red band trailer to follow-up the teaser for the upcoming summer comedy Girls Trip, directed by Malcolm D. Lee (director of last year’s Barbershop: The Next Cut). This wild comedy stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish as a group of friends who decide to take a “girls trip” together. This film also stars Larenz Tate, Mike Colter, Kofi Siriboe, Kate Walsh. I was hoping this trailer would show more of the plot, but this just seems like one big party movie. Does anything interesting happen? And – zip line comedy is the worst. Have fun, if you can. ›››

Watch: Second Trailer for 'The Circle' with Emma Watson & Tom Hanks

    The Circle Trailer

“We used to go on adventures, we used to have fun, now it’s all filtered through this. Does this really seem okay to you?” STX has debuted the second official trailer for James Ponsoldt’s adaptation of the best-selling book The Circle, about a mysterious tech company that hires a young woman who learns there’s more to their data collection than it seems. The book by Dave Eggers is very popular now, often being compared to working at Google or Facebook. Emma Watson stars, along with Tom Hanks as the CEO of the company, plus Karen Gillan, John Boyega, Bill Paxton, Patton Oswalt, Glenne Headly, Ellar Coltrane, Ellen Wong, Poorna Jagannathan and Nate Corddry. This is a very good trailer, except for the music. ›››

  • Back-to-Back Festivals – Kicking Off Berlinale Weeks After Sundance

Back-to-Back Festivals – Kicking Off Berlinale Weeks After Sundance

    Berlinale 2017

From the very snowy streets of Park City, to the freezing streets of Berlin. Kicking off this week is the 67th Berlin Film Festival, better known as Berlinale. This is my 4th year in a row covering the Berlin Film Festival, this time as a local resident of Berlin, but it’s still just as exciting. Taking place only two weeks after Sundance, this picks up where that left off and continues the enthusiasm and excitement for new cinema by offering a fine selection of European films. This year’s biggest world premiere is perhaps James Mangold’s Logan, at the very end of the festival, though there are plenty of other films showing over the next 10 days. I may not be recovered from Sundance yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m not excited to jump into another fest. ›››

  • First Flashy Teaser Trailer for 'Beach Rats' from Director Eliza Hittman

First Flashy Teaser Trailer for 'Beach Rats' from Director Eliza Hittman

    Beach Rats Teaser Trailer

Brand new distribution company Neon has debuted a teaser trailer for the film Beach Rats, the second feature from filmmaker Eliza Hittman, following up her debut It Felt Like Love. This film just premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won the Best Director award. Newcomer Harris Dickinson plays Frankie, an aimless youth on the outer edges of Brooklyn, struggling to escape his bleak home life. He spends his summer balancing time between his delinquent friends, a potential new girlfriend, and older men he meets online. The cast includes Nicole Flyus, Frank Hakaj, Kate Hodge and Neal Huff. I’m not fond of this teaser – doesn’t tell me enough about the film or why I should be interested in it. ›››
