“The only thing more dangerous than the mission is this team of renegades.” EuropaCorp USA has debuted a brand new official trailer for the action heist thriller titled Renegades, formerly known as The Lake. This was originally set for release in early 2017, and the first trailer debuted in 2016, but it’s just now getting to theaters this fall – apparently. The film tells the sort-of true story of a team of Navy SEALs who try to find long-lost Nazi gold at the bottom in a lake during the Bosnian War in the 90s. The eclectic cast includes J.K. Simmons, as well as Sullivan Stapleton, Ewen Bremner, Sylvia Hoeks, Diarmaid Murtagh, Charlie Bewley, Clemens Schick and Dimitri Leonidas. They’re totally overselling this now with all the big action, guns, tanks, and wise-crackin’ American patriotism from these elite SEALs. Whatever works. ›››

“If you go back inside, you’ll never get out…” Aviron Pictures has released the first official trailer for a gritty new crime thriller titled The Informer, formerly known as Three Seconds before this new title, a film about an ex-con who goes undercover and intentionally gets himself incarcerated again in order to infiltrate the mob at a maximum security prison. The film stars Joel Kinnaman as Pete Koslow, who gets caught in the middle of dangerous people with their own priorities. The film’s cast includes Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, Common, Ana de Armas, Sam Spruell, Ruth Bradley, Martin McCann, and Jenna Willis. Looks like one of those films that’s extra convoluted just to give a crime action movie some plot that usually involves the CIA or FBI getting mixed up with criminals, and a good person having to risk everything to live. ›››

Instead of – maybe – learning something.” Orion Classics has debuted the official trailer for the indie drama Jinn, arriving in limited theaters later this month. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival this year, and played at a bunch of other festivals including AFI Fest. From writer/director Nijla Mumin, the film is about a 17-year-old carefree black girl named Summer whose life is turned upside down when her mother converts to Islam and becomes a completely different person. “With this film, we are trying to create awareness, acceptance, understanding and form a conversation.” Zoe Renee stars as Summer, with a full cast including Simone Missick, Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Dorian Missick, Hisham Tawfiq, and Kelly Jenrette. This looks like a very powerful, beautiful, and resonant coming-of-age film that’s worthy of being discovered. Watch below. ›››

“I took an enormous risk… Me, and my colleagues, we take those risks every day because we believe that journalism is a force for good.” Screen Daily has released the first teaser trailer for a film titled 438 Days, which is still in production but still looking for international attention. The film is based on the true story of two Swedish journalists who were locked up for 438 days in Ethiopia inside the notorious Kality prison in Addis Ababa, after being tried as terrorists even though they were just there as journalists trying to report on the hunt for oil effecting the local population. Gustaf Skarsgård and Matias Varela star as Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson, who later wrote a book about this. The full cast also includes Fredrik Evers, Josefin Neldén, Philip Zandén, Faysal Ahmed, and Jesper Ganslandt. This is only a teaser with a tiny bit of footage, but it looks quite good – real and intense and raw. I’m intrigued to see more. Take a look. ›››

The server is setup to automate everything and send everyone to the right URL, so don’t worry. We’re also trying to keep it running fast and efficient. Ron Perlman stars as the titular character Asher, a former Mossad agent now working out of Brooklyn as an assassin. His final job to get out goes wrong, and he ends up having to make a choice about what matters most to him. The full cast includes Famke Janssen, Peter Facinelli, Richard Dreyfuss, Jacqueline Bisset, Guy Burnet, Blake Perlman, Marta Milans, Jay Hieron, and David Wohl. Looks damn good, I dig Perlman in this role. He has the right amount of scruff and gravitas for this. ›››
