New Official Trailer for Long Lost Cooking Mockumentary 'Cook Off!'

    Cook Off! Trailer

“Use more marshmallows!” Lionsgate has unveiled a new trailer for a mockumentary comedy titled Cook Off!, making fun of cooking competitions. This was actually filmed over a decade ago, and it first premiered at the US Comedy Arts Festival Aspen back in 2007. Somehow it has been sitting on a shelf all these years, and yet is just now getting an official release thanks to Lionsgate. The huge ensemble cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Wendy McLendon-Covey, Ben Falcone, Niecy Nash, Jennifer Cox, Stephen Root, Diedrich Bader, Louie Anderson, Gary Anthony Williams, Jennifer Elise Cox, Cathryn Michon, Markie Post, and Sam Pancake. This definitely does have a Christopher Guest-esque vibe, with a cast of eccentric goofballs all makin’ food under one roof. I’m just curious as to why it took so long to get a release. ›››

  • First Trailer for New 'Tomb Raider' with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

First Trailer for New 'Tomb Raider' with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

    Tomb Raider Movie Trailer

“Her legend begins.” It’s time to finally meet the new Lara Croft. Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for the new Tomb Raider movie, based on the popular video game series about adventurer Lara Croft. Swedish actress Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft this time around, playing a young woman living in London who decides to travel to a mysterious island in an attempt to figure out what happened to her eccentric adventurer father. As expected, there is a tomb she’ll raid and lots of other crazy things in this, including various video game-esque action scenes like swinging spiked logs and more. The full cast includes Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Dominic West, Daniel Wu, and Alexandre Willaume. This seems like a nice follow up to WB’s Wonder Woman, about another ass-kicking independent woman. I’m hoping it isn’t as bad as pretty much every other video game movie, because the curse still isn’t broken. ›››

Watch: Zack Snyder's Gritty New iPhone Short Film 'Snow Steam Iron'

    Snow Steam Iron Short Film

Get a load of this! While taking a break from Hollywood, Zack Snyder made a short film entirely on an iPhone for the social media app Vero. Titled Snow Steam Iron, the short film is set on the gritty streets of New York and stars Samantha Jo as a woman who decides to fight back. Vero explains: “Looking for an opportunity to change the alchemy, to challenge himself with new variables, to literally look at filmmaking through a new lens, Zack envisioned his next project.” This actually turned out pretty dang cool, especially for a film made entirely on an iPhone and without any dialogue. Then again, we shouldn’t expect anything less from Zack Snyder. The full short is exclusive to watch only on Vero for the moment, but it is available. ›››

Rose McGowan & Christopher Lloyd in Trailer for Thriller 'The Sound'

    The Sound Trailer

“Have you ever seen anything down here?” Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted a trailer for a supernatural thriller titled The Sound, the feature directorial debut of actress-filmmaker Jenna Mattison. The film stars Rose McGowan as Kelly, a supernatural skeptic who debunks paranormal activity and posts about it on her blog. She takes on a case in an abandoned subway, where she goes to debunk the claims. “As Kelly ascends into the depths of the metro’s darkness she is confronted by an unforeseen evil. In the vastness, she must face her own haunted memories to find the truth and surface back into the light.” Co-starring Christopher Lloyd (yeah, seriously!), Michael Eklund, Richard Gunn, and Stephen McHattie. • One More Trailer for Alien Invasion Thriller 'Revolt' Starring Lee Pace

One More Trailer for Alien Invasion Thriller 'Revolt' Starring Lee Pace

    Revolt Sci-Fi Trailer

“The machines are hunting everyone down. Machines programmed to kill.” Vertical Entertainment has unveiled a new official US trailer for the sci-fi indie film titled Revolt, from director Joe Miale making his feature debut. The film stars Lee Pace as a US soldier in Africa attempting to fight back against a brutal alien invasion. This kind of seems a bit like a mash-up between District 9 and Transformers, with robot-like alien creatures taking over. Also starring Bérénice Marlohe (who was also in the sci-fi Kill Switch, as well as Skyfall and Song to Song), plus Amy Louise Wilson, Alan Santini, and Tom Fairfoot. I’m actually very curious about this, might be pretty cool. I dig the machine’s designs, different than most alien designs. ›››

  • Second Trailer for 'The Secret Scripture' Drama Starring Rooney Mara

Second Trailer for 'The Secret Scripture' Drama Starring Rooney Mara

    The Secret Scripture Trailer

“Make up your mind, but leave me out of it!” Vertical Entertainment has debuted a brand new official US trailer for the upcoming release of the romance film The Secret Scripture, the latest from filmmaker Jim Sheridan. Rooney Mara and Vanessa Redgrave play the same woman, named Roseanne McNulty, who grew up in the midst of the religious and political upheavals in Ireland during the 1920s and ’30s. The story starts with Redgrave in a mental institution, where she has kept a diary of “secret scriptures” from her life. It flashes back to tell her story growing up, which is when Mara takes over. The cast also features Jack Reynor, Aidan Turner, Theo James, Eric Bana, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Omar Sharif Jr. This doesn’t look any better than it did last year when the first international trailer arrived, and it’s never a good sign when the film is delayed for a year to a rather quiet US release. But you never know. Check it out below. ›››

  • Donnie Yen in Official US Trailer for Crime Film 'Chasing the Dragon'

Donnie Yen in Official US Trailer for Crime Film 'Chasing the Dragon'

    Chasing the Dragon Trailer

“Whatever I get in the future, you will get half.” Well Go USA has unveiled two official trailers for the Hong Kong action film Chasing the Dragon, from directors Jason Kwan & Jing Wong. This true story is about a drug lord in the 1960s, who snuck into British-ruled Hong Kong as an illegal immigrant. Donnie Yen stars as “Crippled Ho”, who uses his combat skills to get deep into the underground world before being physically ruined. He eventually works under the control of Chief Detective Sergeant, Lee Rock, played Andy Lau, until the Independent Commission Against Corruption (aka the ICAC) in 1974. The full cast includes Philip Keung, Kang Yu, Kent Cheng, and Bryan Larkin. This looks cool but also totally crazy, almost like a parody more than a drama. It also seems like there might be a few badass action scenes hidden in this film. ›››

  • Meet the Blind Magician in First Full Trailer for 'Dealt' Documentary

Meet the Blind Magician in First Full Trailer for 'Dealt' Documentary

    Dealt Documentary Trailer

“I represent why you should never play cards with strangers.” IFC FIlms has debuted an official trailer for a documentary titled Dealt, introducing us to and telling the story of Richard Turner, a world famous magician who is completely blind. Turner went blind as a child, and then dedicated his life to learning how to do things that one can’t do when they’re blind – including becoming an expert in sleight of hand and card tricks. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this doc ever since I first heard about it earlier this year. I love what Turner says in this trailer about how he wants to be known for what he does on its own merit. I wish I could go see him perform live somewhere. This really seems like a fascinating and fantastic doc. Deal me in. ›››

  • Blake Lively in Official Trailer for Marc Forster's Drama 'All I See Is You'

Blake Lively in Official Trailer for Marc Forster's Drama 'All I See Is You'

All I See Is You Trailer

“Well, we don’t really know what me is, do we?” Open Road Films has unveiled an official trailer for All I See Is You, the latest from director Marc Forster (of Stranger Than Fiction, The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace, World War Z). Blake Lively stars as a woman who was blinded in a near-fatal car accident when she was young. She now lives in Thailand, happily married to her husband, played by Jason Clarke. When she receives implants and can see again, their lives and relationship are upended by the truths that come to light. The cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Danny Huston, Ahna O’Reilly, and Wes Chatham. This seems like an odd relationship drama that has been quietly sitting on the shelf all year. It almost seems like there’s some twist in this where it turns out he’s a serial killer, or something, I can’t really tell. Take a look. ›››
