  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Will Star F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton

Champion Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton will be in Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Hamilton, who drives for team Mercedes, announced his appearance in the game on Twitter, but didn’t say exactly what role he has in the game.

Based on the image attached to his Twitter post, it looks like he could be either a pilot, which makes sense given his profession, or an engineer of some sort. Take a look at the picture below.

It’s awesome to think I’ll be a character in @callofduty! Be sure to check out #InfiniteWarfare this November! 🙌🏾🚀☄#ambassador pic.twitter.com/HDoE8tpqTU

    — Lewis Hamilton (@LewisHamilton) October 18, 2016

“I grew up with Super Mario, where the graphics were outdated at the time,” Hamilton said in an interview, as reported by Motorsport. “It’s crazy to see how far it [computer games have come] – the realisation is unbelievable.

“I loved it,” he said, discussing his involvement in the game. “It was a great experience, I am incredibly honoured to be part of this game. I’ve been a fan for years,” he added.

Hamilton joins a number of other celebrities on Infinite Warfare’s star-studded cast. On September 14 it was announced that UFC champion Conor McGregor would be in the game. Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow on HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, plays Infinite Warfare’s antagonist, Admiral Salen Koch.

Infinite Warfare launches on November 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Infinite Warfare’s first beta weekend was extended by a day after it got off to a rough start, wrapping up today instead of yesterday. The second beta begins on October 21 at 10 AM PT and runs until October 24 at the same time. Everyone on PlayStation 4 will have access to the upcoming second beta.

  • Elder Scrolls Online's New One Tamriel Update Launches on PS4, Xbox One

ZeniMax Media Online Studios has released a new patch for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of The Elder Scrolls Online. The update, called One Tamriel, “allows you to play anywhere, with anyone, at anytime” by scaling characters to the appropriate level for content you’re playing.

“That means you can take your max-level character and help a friend that’s new to ESO without having to create a new character; you can play with anyone regardless of their level or alliance. And best of all, this update is completely free to all ESO players,” the studio explained on its website.

One Tamriel also includes the ability to form bigger groups and guild: “By dropping Alliance and level-grouping barriers, you will now be able to adventure with many new friends starting today. And, of course, you will be able to go wherever you want as the game no longer restricts your location based on level, so enjoy your newfound exploration.”

Elder Scrolls Online relaunched in March 2015 as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. As part of this, publisher Bethesda did away with the game’s mandatory monthly subscription fee, though the game is not entirely free-to-play. According to game director Matt Firor, this tripled the number of players.

Bethesda has never shared the player numbers The Elder Scrolls Online has, but Firor previously said it had around 235,000 people in the game at the same time when it came out on consoles. A further 200,000 were waiting in queues.

One Tamriel launched on on PC in early October. You can find out more about the update here.

Throughout October, The Witches Festival event will be taking place in The Elder Scrolls Online. As part of the event, Tamriel will be populated with demonologists, conjurors, lamias, warlocks, and thaumaturgists, who will take part in incantations, invocations, and conjurations to celebrate the season.

  • 5 Developments From Agents of SHIELD: Season 4, Episode 4 [Spoilers]

5 Developments From Agents of SHIELD: Season 4, Episode 4 [Spoilers]

Things are heating up in this week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Coulson complained that everyone except him has seen the Ghost Rider. This week, it’s his turn as the two cross paths. Daisy continues her fight against the Watchdogs, but needs some help from a friend. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also more about the mysterious evil book everyone is looking for.

Warning: Spoilers for Season 4, Episode 4 of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, “Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire,” will be discussed below.

    Daisy and Simmons Team Up

One aspect of the show that’s been different this season is the separation of the core cast. This begins to change when Daisy has no choice but to seek out Simmons’ help. Daisy has been on her own mission and being pursued by SHIELD. After a run-in with some members of the Watchdogs, the anti-Inhuman terrorist group, Daisy obtained a classified SHIELD list of Inhumans they managed to get their hands on. She also got a bullet in her back. After forcing Simmons to help so she wouldn’t have to lie to the Director, they discover that James, one of the Inhumans that got sucked into Hive’s dark control, is on the Watchdogs’ target list.

    Ghost Rider vs. Coulson

Coulson figures out that Eli Morrow has a connection to the Momentum facility and the ghosts running around. After talking to him in prison and getting no help, he and Mack see Robbie Reyes drive by outside. Reyes recognizes Mack from their previous encounter and this leads to a high-octane car chase with Coulson’s car, Lola. The chase ends with Robbie being captured and put in a containment unit. Coulson decides to trust him since Daisy does and lets him out. Robbie agrees to help them and talks to his uncle to try to get more information on the ghosts created at the facility.

Uncle Eli, the Ghosts, and the Darkhold

Eli won’t talk to Coulson, and while he’s reluctant to discuss things with his nephew, he does finally share his backstory with Robbie. The man Eli beat up and put in a coma, Joseph, is the husband of the main ghost, Lucy Bauer. Eli was brought into the project at Momentum and believed Joseph killed the entire team. They were working on a quantum particle generator and were trying to create matter. Eli’s not sure where Lucy would go, but says she’d go after “the book.” He doesn’t mention the Darkhold by name but says it has all the knowledge anyone would need. The entire team read it (which could be why they’re all ghosts), and it’s evil. Coulson later convinces Daisy and Robbie to help SHIELD find the book.

    Hellfire and the Watchdogs

When Simmons and Daisy track down James, he’s still trying to adjust to a life away from Hive‘s influence after last season. It turns out he has quite a bit of resentment due to being turned into an Inhuman despite his prior obsession with Terrigenesis. He’s been helping the Watchdogs and betrays Simmons and Daisy to the group. James hates all Inhumans, including himself, and wants them all dead. A fight ensues, and when it looks bad for the injured Daisy and out-of-ammo Simmons, Ghost Rider arrives to take on Hellfire. It’s a pretty epic fight, but James is no match for Ghost Rider.

Aida Is Revealed to the Team…Sort of

    No Caption Provided

Agent May is recovering from being cured of the ghost infection. Radcliffe lets Aida, the life model decoy, attend to her as a test. If May doesn’t suspect anything, they could be ready to take the LMD to another level. Aida later meets others on the team, including Coulson. No one suspects anything until Simmons arrives. She pulls Fitz aside and immediately points out that Aida is an android. Fitz explains the Director can’t be allowed to know about her/it yet. With Simmons’ mandatory lie detector tests, she’ll have to keep this, and helping Daisy, from being discovered.

    Our Thoughts

There wasn’t any shortage of action or suspense in this episode. We’re seeing the show veer away from the comics with Robbie’s Uncle Eli. Since he’s still alive and not the evil spirit that possesses Robbie, we need to find out who exactly is the “devil” Robbie made a deal with. Could it be the elder god, Chthon, due to the Darkhold connection?

The others have met Aida. It’s only a matter of time until they all discover she’s actually an LMD. Will she be used in the field? Perhaps she could be used against the ghosts since they wouldn’t be able to infect her. It seems more likely the ghost story would get wrapped up before Aida is ready field action.

Coulson will have to figure out how to keep the fact that Daisy and Robbie are working with them from the Director. With the various run-ins the two have had with the rest of the team, it makes sense to put them all back together. If nothing else, it’ll guarantee more spectacular fight scenes in the next episode.

  • Two New Resident Evil 7 Videos Highlight Knife Abilities and Save Points

Capcom has released a pair of new Resident Evil 7 gameplay videos. The clips are very brief, showcasing some of the game’s features. The first video spotlights the horror game’s save point system, which involves finding cassette tape recorders to mark your progress.

The second video shows off some of the things you can do with your knife that do not involve killing. As you’ll see, you can use your knife to open containers, either with brute force or by way of a more surgical approach. Check out the two videos below.

These videos follow the first two in the Volume series that started last week. One of those videos teased that a character from past games may return, while the other showed off a shotgun.

Last month, Capcom released an update for the Resident Evil 7’s Beginning Hour demo called the “Twilight” demo. It allows players to explore “more of the mysterious, derelict mansion” featured in it.

Resident Evil 7 is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24, 2017. A deluxe version of Resident Evil 7 will be available for $89.99 and includes the game and a season pass with three extra story chapters.

GameSpot recently got the opportunity to play the upcoming survival-horror game and found that it continues to break tradition.

A new Resident Evil movie, The Final Chapter, also comes out in January 2017. At New York Comic-Con this month, Sony released a full-length trailer for the movie that teased an epic conclusion.

  • Batman: Return to Arkham Launches Today on PS4 and Xbox One

Batman: Return to Arkham Launches Today on PS4 and Xbox One

After a delay, Batman: Return to Arkham launches today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Return to Arkham, which costs $50, contains updated versions of last-generation Batman games Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, which were developed by Rocksteady. Both contain “fully remastered and updated” graphics, while all previously released DLC is also included for both games.

    No Caption Provided

Return to Arkham was developer by Virtuous, which previously worked on Heavy Rain‘s PS4 version and contributed to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Additionally, the company created assets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The first two Batman Arkham games garnered near-unanimous praise from critics. GameSpot’s Arkham Asylum review said: “everything about this game–the impressive visuals, stirring soundtrack, superb voice acting, fiendish puzzles, hard-hitting combat–feels like it has been lovingly crafted by a development team that’s both knowledgeable and passionate about the source material.”

Arkham City was also rated highly: “From the speedy exhilaration of soaring high above the streets to the atmospheric thrill of discovering long-forgotten secrets in the tunnels below Gotham, this is an unforgettable adventure that will keep you coming back to the cape and cowl long after you’ve seen the credits roll.”

Take a look at the side-by-side trailer below to see how the graphics compare.

The latest Batman console game was Batman: Arkham Knight. It came out in June 2015 and has reportedly sold 5 million copies. It was also developed by Rocksteady, and is apparently the last core Batman game from the studio, though it launched Batman: Arkham VR last week.

Rocksteady has discussed saying goodbye to the Batman series.

  • New Logan Image Reveals Weird-looking Mutant Caliban

New Logan Image Reveals Weird-looking Mutant Caliban

Stephen Merchant is best known for his comedy roles in films such as Hot Fuzz and Hall Pass, as well as being the co-writer of the original British version of The Office. Merchant will soon be taking on a darker role as sewer-dwelling mutant Caliban in the upcoming third Wolverine movie Logan. Director James Mangold has tweeted a first image of the actor in character–check it out below:

    No Caption Provided

This will actually be the second time in a year that Caliban has appeared in a movie within the X-Men universe. He featured in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, played by Tómas Lemarquis.

Logan will be Hugh Jackman’s last time playing Wolverine, and the movie will also see Patrick Stewart return to the role of Professor X. Jackman recently hinted that the movie would take a different approach to its predecessors. “Basically it’s going to be different. Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we’ve done,” he told ET Online.

The notes contained in a page of script that Mangold tweeted earlier this month certainly suggest something more hard-hitting than the previous Wolverine movies. “If you’re on the make for a hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying, CG f**kathon, this ain’t your movie,” they state. “In this flick, people will get hurt or killed when s**t falls on them.”

A first poster for the movie was revealed a few weeks ago–check it out here.

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.

  • Red Dead Online Domain Registered

Take-Two, parent company of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption developer Rockstar Games, has registered the domain name “ReadDeadOnline.com.” The registration was spotted by Twitter user Bill Wright and a WhoIs search lists the owner as Take-Two.

The URL currently redirects to a Rockstar Newswire post featuring the artwork released on October 17. It’s worth noting that domains can easily be registered by anyone and, in most cases, a publisher will secure a domain to keep others from doing so. The fact that RedDeadOnline.com has been registered isn’t definitive confirmation of its existence.

    — Bill Wright (@billwright) October 18, 2016

Nevertheless, Grand Theft Auto 5′s biggest success has been its multiplayer component, GTA Online. In April, as part of former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies’ $150 million lawsuit against Take-Two, it’s was revealed that GTA Online has generated “at least” $500 million in revenue from microtransactions.

Using GTA Online’s gameplay and business model for more Rockstar Games franchises–such as Red Dead–would no doubt be of interest to Take-Two. Rockstar has been teasing something new related to Red Dead for the past few days. On October 16, the studio’s Twitter, Facebook, and official website switched to a Red Dead-themed logo, then the image showing seven cowboys was released a day later.

It has been speculated that a new entry in the series will be announced soon. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, previously told investors to think about Red Dead as a “permanent” franchise like Grand Theft Auto, so a new Red Dead is inevitable. Given the success of GTA Online, it would make sense to have a similar online component for the new Red Dead title too.

Of course, Red Dead Redemption had its own online multiplayer mode, which had some open-world gameplay. Players could create a posse and roam around the Wild West assaulting gang bases, hunting wildlife, or soaking in the scenery.

In May, Take-Two teased that Rockstar would announce a new game “soon,” but said the project wouldn’t launch until April 2017 at the soonest.

Rockstar is also working on mysterious new IP. On October 17, Take-Two Interactive also filed a new trademark application for something called “Ghost Story.”
