  • Star Wars Actress Reveals Why Han and Leia Split Up

Star Wars Actress Reveals Why Han and Leia Split Up

One of the big surprises of last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens is that Han Solo and Princess (now General) Leia were no longer together. The fact that their son had become evil Kylo Renn probably didn’t help matters, and now actress Carrie Fisher has spoken about some their other relationship issues, in typically frank style.

    3134609-star-wars-han-and-leia-details.jpg

In a Q&A at the Saskatoon Comic & Entertainer Expo, Fisher explained that Han’s profession and choice of friends may have been a problem. “He smuggled way too much,” she joked, as posted on the Expo’s Facebook page. “And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that.

“He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough. [That’s a] euphemism.”

Fisher will return as Leia in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is directed by Rian Johnson. The film finished shooting in July, and is now in post-production ahead of its December 2017 release.

In a recent interview, Adam Driver, who plays Kylo in the new Star Wars movies, shared some insight into the film’s script.

“It’s great,” he told Collider. “It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go, ‘Oooh, it’s dark.’ But I don’t know that it necessarily is. It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear.

“[Rian] trusts [that] his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He’s not dumbing anything down for someone and that’s really fun to play,” he added.

Star Wars: Episode VIII arrives in theaters on December 15, 2017. It also stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.

  • One Punch Man Season Two Confirmed

Hit anime One Punch Man will receive a second season, it has been announced. The first season ended in December 2015 and–given how overwhelmingly popular it was–fans expected a follow-up would be announced very quickly.

Animation studio MadHouse left fans hanging for eight months, but the second season was confirmed on Twitter on September 25. As of yet, there are no further details on when the show will return or what the new arc will entail.

    本日9/25開催「ワンパン秋祭り」でTVアニメ「ワンパンマン」第2期制作が発表されました。今後の情報は公式サイト&ツイッターで発信していきます。楽しみにお待ちください! https://t.co/ZEx0x1ZFAM #onepunchman pic.twitter.com/f2nsdijGxY

    — TVアニメ「ワンパンマン」公式 (@opm_anime) September 25, 2016

One Punch Man started as a web comic created by an author that works under the pseudonym ONE. It follows Saitama, a superhero that has become so powerful that he can defeat all villains with a single punch. Over the course of the season one, Saitama takes on monsters of various sizes to climb up the hero ranking.

Following the success of One Punch Man, ONE had another of his creations–Mob Psycho 100–adapted for anime. Like One Punch Man, it stars an unassuming main character that has incredible powers–in this case it’s psychic ability.

  • The Flash Season 3 Trailer Reveals an Alternate Reality and a Second Flash

The Flash is one of the most popular, best received superhero shows of recent years, and it returns to screens next month. A new extended trailer for season 3 of the DC series has been released–check it out below:

The new season centers around an alternate timeline created by Barry Allen at the end of season 2, in which there is a second Flash running around. Barry is forced to make to make some difficult choices as to which timeline he chooses as his powers begin to fade.

Grant Gustin returns in the lead role, but despite the acclaim he has received for his performance, he is not reprising the character for the movie version of the Flash that is set for a 2018 release. The CW’s DC universe is separate from the one being developed by Warner for the big screen, where Ezra Miller has been cast in the role.

  • Halo 5 Dev Teases More Content — "A Few Different Flavors of Goodness"

Halo 5 Dev Teases More Content — "A Few Different Flavors of Goodness"

It sounds like Halo 5‘s Anvil’s Legacy expansion, which came out earlier this month, may not be the Xbox One game’s final piece of add-on content. In its latest weekly report, developer 343 Industries teased that “there’s more brewing on the Halo 5 front.”

“We’re not done just yet,” the developer said. “Various teams here at the studio are hard at work finishing up a few different flavors of goodness, and we’ll be talking about all of that and more in the near future. I am particularly excited about that part.”

    3119065-halo-5-guardians-warzone-assault-temple-hunter.jpg

Anvil’s Legacy landed on September 8, which was the same day that Halo 5’s Forge tools came to Windows 10 PCs. The expansion added new maps, weapons, and more; a file browser was also introduced.

Given that Halo 5’s playerbase is still reportedly very strong, it makes sense that 343 would want to keep the ball rolling with more content.

Anvil’s Legacy was Halo 5’s ninth free expansion. Halo 5’s other expansions included The Battle of Shadow and Light (November), Cartographer’s Gift (December), Infinity’s Armor (January), Hammer Storm (February), Ghosts of Meridian (April), Memories of Reach (May), Hog Wild (May), and Warzone Firefight (June).

What new content would you like to see added to Halo 5? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Palmer Luckey Releases Statement — "I Am Deeply Sorry"

Palmer Luckey Releases Statement — "I Am Deeply Sorry"

Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey has released a statement following the news that emerged this week that he reportedly funded a pro-Donald Trump political group that’s behind “s**tposting” memes about Hillary Clinton. In his statement, posted on Facebook (the site that owns Oculus), Luckey said he is “deeply sorry that [his] actions are negatively impacting the perception of Oculus and its partners.”

“The recent news stories about me do not accurately represent my views,” he added.

Luckey hand-delivering the first consumer Rift unit early this year

Luckey, 24, added that he contributed $10,000 to the anti-Hillary Clinton group, Nimble America.

“I thought the organization had fresh ideas on how to communicate with young voters through the use of several billboards,” he explained. “I am a libertarian who has publicly supported Ron Paul and Gary Johnson in the past, and I plan on voting for Gary in this election as well.”

He said he is “committed to the principles of fair play and equal treatment.” Luckey also said he did not write Reddit posts under the name “NimbleRichMan” nor did he subsequently deleted the account. Editors from The Daily Beast, which broke the news on Thursday, have challenged some of these claims.

“Reports that I am a founder or employee of Nimble America are false. I don’t have any plans to donate beyond what I have already given to Nimble America,” he added. “Still, my actions were my own and do not represent Oculus. I’m sorry for the impact my actions are having on the community.”

You can read Luckey’s full statement below.

In the wake of the report on Thursday, multiple developers said they would not bring their games to Oculus Rift.

  • Weekly Recap: All BF1 Maps and Modes, PS Plus Price Hike, GTA 5 Biker DLC

Weekly Recap: All BF1 Maps and Modes, PS Plus Price Hike, GTA 5 Biker DLC

    3133915-biker1.jpg

It’s the weekend again…here’s a recap of the week’s big stories and some you might have missed.

    The Big Stuff:

With Battlefield 1’s release coming up relatively soon, EA this week announced every map and mode that will be playable at launch on October 21. EA also confirmed that EA/Origin Access members can start playing the game’s Play First Trial, for 10 hours, beginning October 13. However, it won’t have all the maps and modes, at least not right away.

PlayStation Plus got more expensive this week, as the yearly rate went up to $60 from $50. If you locked in for a new year before September 22, you won’t be asked to pay more until a year from now.

The rumors were right. Grand Theft Auto V is getting biker DLC, Rockstar revealed this week. The new update is called Bikers and allows players to form biker gangs of up to eight players. There will be different roles in the club (prospects and presidents are both mentioned), which can partake in “a massive slate of new competitive and co-op gameplay.” Details of those activities weren’t shared, but Rockstar talks in its announcement about ascending the ranks of your gang and building a lucrative business.

Pokemon Go might be getting a battle mode. The CEO of The Pokemon Company said this week that developer Niantic plans to add new features, like a multiplayer mode, over time. It didn’t want to put out all the new features at launch so as not to overwhelm new players, the executive said.

The name Battle.net will soon be no more. Blizzard announced this week that it has begun the process of phasing out the name because it doesn’t make sense anymore. Learn more here.

Bungie’s multiplayer game Destiny expanded again this week with the launch of Rise of Iron, its latest DLC offering. The $30 expansion added new quests, weapons, items, and more. It also brought a new raid, Wrath of the Machine, which players quickly beat, of course.

    The Other Stuff:

An official virtual reality version of Alien Isolation could happen, according to a Sega boss. Can you even imagine how scary that would be? Get all the details here at MCV.

Roadhouse Interactive, a Canadian studio that was working on metal band Iron Maiden’s mobile game, has reportedly closed its doors. An estimated 100 people are believed to be out of work. Get more information on the story at Pocket Gamer.

The 38 Studios case continues. Rhode Island news site NBC 10 WJAR reports that the RI Commerce Corp. has reached a $2.5 million settlement with defendants Curt Schilling and others at the defunct Kingdoms of Amalur studio.

The Battlefield 1 beta was a huge success, drawing more than 13 million players. There were also a lot of hilarious glitches, as this wonderful video shows off.

A Pokemon Go player says he was mugged while livestreaming the game in New York City recently. The video footage of the attack is dramatic and tough to watch. We hope he’s OK.

Could NBA 2K17 overheat your PS4 and cause major problems? Some people on Reddit are saying that is indeed the case. Be careful out there.

Drama in the world of GTA 5 mods this week, as the creator of the stunning GTA 5 Redux mod has been sued by another modder. The other people claims Redux uses his work without crediting him. Get the full story at Eurogamer.

Mafia III is getting a tie-in mobile game. Mafia III: Rivals is the name of the title from developer Cat Daddy. It’s a “battle RPG” that will launch alongside the console/PC game for iOS and Android on October 7.

FIFA 17 isn’t officially out until September 27, but Xbox One owners with an EA Access membership can start playing right now. Go, go, go.

Here are some rad-looking Zords posters for the new Power Rangers movie. This movie, due out in 2017, continues to look and sound good.

Rolling Stone’s Glixel has a fascinating, in-depth interview with Gears of War boss Rod Fergusson. In the sweeping interview, Fergusson talks about pushing the franchise to new areas with Gears of War 4 while trying to respect the franchises legacy–and a lot more. Read it here.

Kotaku UK did a lengthy investigation into what it called the troubled development of Star Citizen. The feature is packed with insight and quotes to help you understand how the game is coming along. Read it here.

There is a big sale on Rockstar Games titles going on now on Steam, with games like Grand Theft Auto V, Max Payne 3, and LA Noire discounted. See all the deals here.

Some major changes are coming to DC Universe Online. Get the full rundown here on developer Daybreak’s forums.

A Zelda movie made by Studio Ghibli? It may never happen, but one fan created a video that shows off what it could look like. Watch the fan-made trailer below and get more details at Game Informer.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Awesome Art Picks: Poison Ivy, Stranger Things, Harley Quinn, and More

Each week we search and gather up the coolest comic book art you won’t see in actual comics. The reason you won’t is because professional artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out. This is a way to see the artists working on one book draw characters from other comics or publishers.
