According to Deadline, Singer is in discussions to direct the movie, which is titled Bohemian Rhapsody. Singer himself teased his involvement on Instagram, although he stopped short of stating that he was definitely going to direct. He posted a picture of the iconic band, writing “Looking forward to @ramimalek @whoismrrobot playing #Freddie.”

Bohemian Rhapsody has now been in development for eight years. Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Whishaw, best known for playing Q in the latest Bond movies, had previously been in line to play Mercury, while Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan was also attached at an earlier stage. • Power Rangers Movie's Megazord Revealed in New Toy Image

Power Rangers Movie's Megazord Revealed in New Toy Image

While the upcoming Power Rangers reboot movie is taking many familiar elements from the TV show, it has also made some big changes. The latest image tweeted from the franchise’s official account is no different–it’s the Megazord, the giant mech created by all five Rangers. The picture itself is of a toy Megazord, and it certainly looks nothing like the classic TV version. Check it out below:

    No Caption Provided

This image follows one released last week, which revealed a Dinozord, again in toy form. A previous poster had hinted at the dinosaur mech, but this new picture provides a better idea of what to expect when the movie arrives.

The first trailer for Power Rangers was released in October, and it suggests that the film is going for a more serious tone than the old TV series. The suits didn’t really make much of an appearance in this first teaser, but Elizabeth Banks’ evil Rita Repulsa was featured heavily.

Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017, directed by Dean Israelite. It stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and Bryan Cranston.

Power Rangers first appeared on screens in 1993’s Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. The show mixed new American scenes with footage taken from the Japanese show Super Sentai. To date there have been 23 TV series and two earlier movies.

Sombra, the new character for Overwatch, was officially unveiled by Blizzard yesterday at Blizzcon 2016, but the cosplay has already started. While Aralynn (probably) doesn’t have the ability to hack things by touching them, the in-game character introduces a slate of new skills to the game, and you can watch our impressions of how she plays right here. For more amazing Blizzcon cosplay, check out our full gallery.

  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare: Everything You Need to Know

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the latest entry of the long-running first-person shooter franchise. This time it takes place in a distant future where you play as Captain Nick Reyes, a Tier 1 Special Operations pilot that must lead his crew in a conflict against the Settlement Defense Front, a hostile military organization vying to take over the entire solar system. With the game launching recently, we’ve compiled a series of features and and videos detailing all the important details you need to know about it.

For more on Infinite Warfare, check out the news stories below, and be sure to check back often as we update this article with additional news, features, and gameplay videos.

    The Review

“By venturing beyond Earth–and not just to other planets, but to space itself–Call of Duty found a canvas to produce its best story in years. It reinforces the notion that a game’s narrative is only as good as its characters. Given the campaign’s accomplishments in space combat, it’s puzzling that no effort was made to replicate its zero-G sensations in Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer. Consequently, the well-crafted Zombies mode is a more attractive, time-consuming proposition for those looking to play with friends. While no Call of Duty game has matched the comprehensive excellence of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the exploits of Reyes and Ethan are at least as memorable and moving as any deeds from “Soap” MacTavish and John Price during from the series’ heyday.” Miguel Concepcion [full review]

  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – The Story Behind the Game

Three studios develop Call of Duty titles. Two years ago, it was Sledgehammer Games with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. In 2015, it was Treyarch with Black Ops III. And now, with the release of Infinite Warfare, it’s Infinity Ward’s turn again.

The studio established the series in 2003 with the original Call of Duty, and modernized the franchise with Modern Warfare in 2007. But in recent years, Infinity Ward has taken somewhat of a tertiary role in the three-studio development cycle.

In the documentary series below, as well as the numerous interviews we conducted during our time at Infinity Ward in Los Angeles, GameSpot explores the reconstruction of the studio in the years following Call of Duty: Ghosts, along with the top-tier talent involved in Infinite Warfare. We also explore the game’s World War II roots, and the difficulty of creating a campaign that caters to the Call of Duty faithful, but also breaks the mold. Call of Duty is one of the most ubiquitous franchises in games–in this feature series, we explore the story behind it.

For a more in-depth look at the game itself, you can read our Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare review right here. For a deeper look at behind-the-scenes development, continue below.

Part 1: The New Infinity Ward

A look behind the scenes at Infinity Ward, the studio that began Call of Duty in 2003, modernized it in 2007, and hopes to move out front of the pack again with Infinite Warfare in 2016.

Part 2: A New Story for a New Year

We go in-depth with Infinite Warfare’s narrative team on how the shooter’s campaign will set it apart from the numerous Call of Duty titles that have come before it.

  • Former EA Exec Who Is Now Zynga's CEO: "I'll Never Go Back" to Console and PC

Former EA Exec Who Is Now Zynga's CEO: "I'll Never Go Back" to Console and PC

For Frank Gibeau, the former EA Studios executive who is now Zynga’s CEO, the smartphone market is more alluring than the console and PC space.

Speaking to GamesBeat after its newest earnings release, Gibeau–who more recently ran EA’s mobile unit before joining Zynga–talked about why he’s going all-in on mobile. “I used to work on console and PC, and I’ll never go back,” he said. “I love the mobile business. The audiences you can reach, the geographic distribution–you have huge markets in Asia and emerging markets.”

    No Caption Provided

Zynga’s latest earnings numbers were ahead of expectations, but the company still took a $41 million loss, according to GI.biz.

Also in the interview, Gibeau said he sees a time in the future where the top of the smartphone charts don’t always look the same. “When people say the charts are never going to change, I don’t agree,” he said. “It’s a dynamic time in mobile. There’s a lot of consolidation happening, a lot of new products coming, new ways to engage customers, whether it’s subscription or AR or VR. It’s exciting.”

“I love where our company is positioned. Our focus on mass-market social is far from its full potential,” he added. “When I look at what Zynga’s capable of and how that vision is more relevant now than it’s ever been in the company’s history, I’m excited about where we’re at as a company and as a market.”

Read the full interview at here at GamesBeat.

Gibeau was named CEO of the FarmVille company in March, while former CEO Mark Pincus, who founded Zynga, transitioned to the role of executive chairman of the board.

“Mark founded Zynga with the simple premise that it’s more fun to play games with other people and that social gaming was a path to the mass market. I felt the power of this idea as a competitor and was inspired by how Zynga reached unexpected new audiences and opened up brand-new gaming platforms,” Gibeau said when he was appointed CEO.

New Uncharted 4 Patch Adds PS4 Pro/HDR Support, "Classic" Mode, and More

Naughty Dog has released a new patch for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, adding support for PS4 Pro and HDR, as well as a new Beta Test playlist featuring the previously announced Classic mode.

In addition to PS4 Pro and HDR support, the update adds “improved quality of stereo audio.

    No Caption Provided

As for the Beta Test playlist, this features Classic Mode, which is a “back-to-basics” take on team deathmatch with minimal items. The mode is playable through the weekend. Looking ahead, Naughty Dog said in the official patch notes that it will try out “other variations” of the mode in a second Beta Test weekend, beginning on November 11.

    Ranked Changes:

    • You can no longer see which players have joined the lobby until the match begins
    • Qualifier matches are now only required when moving between full ranks (e.g. Silver to Gold). Moving within a rank (e.g. Silver III to Silver II) doesn’t require any qualifiers.
    • Players can now be kicked during a ranked match for networking issues

The new Uncharted 4 multiplayer patch also makes a gameplay tweak so that players can nolonger take cover behind something that is completely offscreen. “This led to many situations where players accidentally became stuck to cover when attempting to roll,” Naughy Dog said.

There are also a handful of bug fixes; check out the patch notes below to see them all.

    Bugfixes:

    • Fixed a couple bugs where player could lose a mystical they purchased after switching loadouts

    • Fixed a bug where Bounty Hunter matches would not increment the total score earned used for unlocking new boosters

    • Fixed issue when cinema file ends causing unwanted black screens
    • Fixed a crash in cinema caused by a late joiner
    • Fixed a crash that occurs during cinema replay
    • NOTE: In this patch, cinema files have switched over to a new version. This will erase any older cinema files.

  • Sorry, That Image You Saw Was Not a Teaser for Brutal Legend 2

You might have seen a Brutal Legend image circling around the internet this week, featuring the caption, “Ormagoden Lives.” Unfortunately for fans, it wasn’t a teaser for Brutal Legend 2.

Developer Double Fine clarified on Twitter, “Today in killjoy news: This was a fan site posting, and nothing to do with us. Sorry if you got excited!” The original Facebook post was deleted, but you can see the image here on NeoGAF. Complicating the matter somewhat was that Double Fine’s own Lee Petty even posted the Ormagoden image, but he since confirmed “there is no Brutal Legend 2.”

Hey, there is no Brutal Legend 2. I was just sharing some artwork and fondly remembering Brutal Legend! Sorry for the confusion!

    — Lee Petty (@leepetty) November 4, 2016

In another tweet, Double Fine said was it’s been saying for a long time about the possibility of a Brutal Legend sequel: it hasn’t been ruled out but it’s not the works now. “Not saying it’s never happening, but we have no plans right now, and will be working on Psychonauts 2 for AGES!” the studio said.

In December 2015, Double Fine said it might make Brutal Legend 2 is Psychonauts 2 is a success.

The original Brutal Legend–published by Electronic Arts in 2009–cost around $25 million to develop. It remains Double Fine’s best-selling game ever. Studio boss Tim Schafer said in January 2014 that raising that much money–or more–for a sequel “might be tricky.”

Schafer also previously teased that he’d like to explore Brutal Legend’s Lionwhyte character (voiced by Judas Priest singer Rob Halford) in a new Brutal Legend game or DLC. Brutal Legend main character Eddie Riggs was voiced by Jack Black; he “might be up for” returning to the character for a sequel

  • Halo 5 "Classic" Playlist, Server Improvements, and More Coming

Halo 5 "Classic" Playlist, Server Improvements, and More Coming

Halo 5: Guardians may already be more than a year old, but developer 343 Industries seems to be far from finished when it comes to continued support.

In addition to new maps on the way, 343 has now revealed further tweaks and additions it plans to make. In its latest weekly blog post, the developer outlined some of these, beginning with improvements for Halo 5’s servers. While the overall online experience is “pretty great,” the developer said, it’s also aware of “a few specific issues that seem to be increasing in prominence.”

    No Caption Provided

Thankfully, 343 is on the case and plans to update Halo 5 with some improvements soon.

“As a commitment to sustaining a fun and enjoyable online experience along with a consistent and fair competitive landscape, the team is actively investigating these reports,” 343 said. “In fact, I’m told there will be a very small update pushed out tentatively as early as next week that’s strictly under-the-hood work to further assist in identifying the root causes of reported instances of higher-than-usual latency, disconnects as well as melee registration to help facilitate a fix.”

The developer also teased that a “Classic” playlist is coming to Halo 5 “relatively soon.” No details were provided regarding what this playlist may entail, however.

Also in the blog post, 343 discussed Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The compilation game had a tough launch in November 2014, with issues abounding. 343 said in the update that “nobody here has forgotten the launch issues and how it impacted the Halo community. It’s something that everyone in this studio lives through every day.”

The game has no doubt gotten better, and it is currently played by “a lot of people,” 343 said. Still, “it’s not perfect,” the studio admitted. There are some “oddities and inconsistent behaviors” affecting the experience, according to 343. As for future patches to fix these problems, there is no guarantee they will ever happen, but 343 is monitoring the situation.

“While I can’t definitively commit to specific fixes at this exact moment, rest assured that MCC continues to be discussed and researched internally as part of the broader ‘Halo sustain’ plans and priorities, including the potential of playlist refreshes,” the developer said.

Also in the blog post, 343 confirmed that it has no plans right now to add a Halo: Reach-style Firefight mode to Halo 5.

Going back to Halo 5, the game’s newest free content update was September’s Anvil’s Legacy, which was the ninth free expansion. Halo 5’s other expansions included The Battle of Shadow and Light (November), Cartographer’s Gift (December), Infinity’s Armor (January), Hammer Storm (February), Ghosts of Meridian (April), Memories of Reach (May), Hog Wild (May), and Warzone Firefight (June).

The future update will add more maps for Warzone Firefight, new Forge canvases, an “improved spectator experience,” and the ability to join live custom games on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
