  • Alan Wake and Quantum Break Dev Providing Studio Update Soon

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind the Alan Wake and Quantum Break franchises, among others, will share some new information on what’s next in the coming weeks, apparently.

Head of communications Thomas Puha said on Twitter (via DualShockers) that he’s preparing a blog post that will discuss the studio’s status that he’ll share soon. In another tweet, Puha said you shouldn’t expect formal game reveals until later. “Just [a] short update, no reveal or nothing like that, just a studio update kind of thing,” he said.

I am planning to do a blog post on our site with a short update on both of our projects before the end of the year.

We wont reveal either game until closer to launch. a dilemma, you want people to know what we working on (helps hiting) but quiet is good.

    — Thomas Puha (@RiotRMD) December 9, 2016

Remedy has been teasing new projects for a while. In August, the developer confirmed that, in addition to working with Korean developer Smilegate on the campaign for CrossFire 2, the studio has a secretive project in the works.

This game is said to be in the conceptual stage and is “pretty far off.” That said, there is already a prototype and Remedy is shopping it around to publishers. The Finnish studio worked most recently with Microsoft on the time-bending action game Quantum Break.

In September this year, Remedy confirmed that it had started making multiplayer games.

“We want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer,” the studio said about its new efforts. “We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players’ cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy’s unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that.”

  • Pokemon Go's Nearby Feature Expands Again

Pokemon Go continues to evolve. Developer Niantic announced this week that the popular mobile game’s Nearby feature is expanded to even more regions.

In a blog post, Niantic said the feature is now available in “most” regions in the world where Pokemon Go is available. Niantic has also tweaked how the feature works somewhat.

“To provide a better experience when searching for Pokemon in the real world, we have also made some changes to the way the Nearby Pokemon feature functions when there are only a few PokeStops in range,” Niantic said. “We will continue to review the feedback submitted on our official social media accounts and in other channels and make changes if necessary.”

The Nearby feature debuted in San Francisco and later grew to other markets in the US and across the world.

In other Pokemon Go news, Niantic has confirmed that more critters are coming to the game. The company will share more details this coming Monday, December 12. Additionally, thousands of Starbucks locations in the US are now sponsored PokeStops and Gyms.

Majesco Merges With Biotech Company, Leaves the Video Game Business

Cooking Mama publisher Majesco has left the video game business. The New Jersey-based company announced this week that it merged with Biotech company PolarityTE, ending its run as a publisher.

Polygon reports that Majesco’s stock symbol, “COOL,” is staying the same, while the latest iteration of the company will have its headquarters in Polarity’s Salt Lake City, Utah.

“PolarityTE was founded by Dr. Denver Lough, a surgeon who specializes in regenerative medicine and reconstructive surgery,” Polygon reported. “Dr. Lough took the role of CEO at the post-merger company, replacing outgoing Majesco CEO Barry Honig, while Dr. Edward Swanson will serve as chief operating officer; the two doctors previously served as residents at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.”

Before this, Majesco published games for more than 20 years. The company distributed the US versions of Aladddin and The Jungle Book for Game Gear, as well as BloodRayne and Psychonauts. Majesco’s profile grew in later years with the Cooking Mama series, NBA Baller Beats, and the Jllian Michaels and Zumba Fitness franchises.

Awesome Art Picks: Supergirl, Ghost Rider, Spider-Gwen, and More

Each week we search and gather up the coolest comic book art you won’t see in actual comics.
