“Once you in this game, you in it for life.” Vertical Entertainment has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled Pimp, the latest feature written & directed by filmmaker Christine Crokos. This is executive produced by Lee Daniels, and it’s getting a small release this November. Born into the “Pimp Game”, a female pimp Named Wednesday, played by Keke Palmer, hustles for a chance at a better life. When her girlfriend, Nikki, hits the streets to change their luck, Wednesday’s game starts to rise and so do her stable of girls. On her epic journey of survival of the fittest, Wednesday comes face to face with a male pimp who plays a much more dangerous game. In a ferocious battle for street power Wednesday fights to survive, risking her dream of ever getting out. In addition to Palmer, the cast includes Haley Ramm, Edi Gathegi, Vanessa Morgan, Aunjanue Ellis, Mike E. Winfield, and DMX. Looks quite good – it’s worth a watch. ›››

“Have you seen a dog pass by?” The Match Factory has released the first official trailer for an indie comedy titled Smuggling Hendrix, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film is about a man from Cyprus planning to leave the island until his dog runs off and crosses the UN Buffer Zone that separates the “Greek South” from the “Turkish North”. He must figure out how to bring him back across. Starring Adam Bousdoukos, Vicky Papadopoulou, Fatih Al, Toni Dimitriou, and Özgür Karadeniz. “Through the simple story of a man who loses his dog, Smuggling Hendrix gives a vivid demonstration of how the fences we build, both real and imagined, between ourselves and others, can be broken down once we recognize the familiarity in the face of the unknown.” I’m a dog lover so I’m totally into this, but it also looks damn good. ›››

When Shadow of the Tomb Raider released last month, fans were fairly split on the game. Our own review felt like the game wasn’t entirely fulfilling its potential, but user reviews on digital distribution service Steam were in the “positive” range, which means that 70% of reviewers were high on the game. Now that positive has fallen after the Steam community has become upset that a sale price for the game that owners feel is premature.
The game released on September 14 and got a 34% discount on Steam on October 16. Since that date, 66% of the game’s reviews have been negative, most not mentioning anything actually good or bad about the game. The reviews mention that the game released a month prior and people who pre-ordered paid more than people who waited a month.

“one month -34%!!! OMG” read one review.
“just a month, and 50% off, what the hell?” reads another.
“Discount a month after the game, the normal course Square Enix :DDDDD Thank you, now your games will be bought only 99% discount,” says a review written on shortly after the sale went live. “As for the game itself, I can say that it is neither better nor worse than the previous parts. I liked it,” the reviewer writes before delving into spoiler territory.
Many of the negative reviews mention differing percentages for the price, though it is not clear why. Checking different regions does not appear to indicate that any SKU of the game exceeded the 34% discount advertised by Steam.
For its part, Steam filters reviews to designate between helpful and unhelpful, so clicking the actual text of a review is supposed to lead potential purchasers to conclude that the game is being reviewed en masse for reasons other than game quality. That said, it does not surface this until you click through to the reviews, so all most people will say is the brown-text “Mixed” reviews on the store page.
Of course, there are still people with legitimate complaints in the reviews, ranging from audio bugs to disagreement with where Eidos Montreal took the third game in the series after Crystal Dynamics worked on the previous two. These reviews are thrown in with the other negative reviews as Steam’s algorithm does not distinguish between the types of negative reviews.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s first DLC, the Forge, releases on November 13.

Konami has revealed that a Pyramid Head costume, Silent Hill II’s primary corporeal antagonist, will be a part of Metal Gear Survive’s upcoming Halloween event. In further Konami crossing over, Castlevania music will also be coming to the game in the form of cassette tapes.
The mission is titled The Research’s Story, which runs from October 23 to way past Halloween on November 6, and lets players who have completed the game’s main story earn points in a special mission. Earn enough points to don the costume for Pyramid Head, but you can also earn cassette tapes for Castlevania games like Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood, which are conveniently coming out together on PS4 on October 26.
The Silent Hill main theme will also be available.

Metal Gear Survive released earlier this year with the absence of high acclaim. Konami has somewhat managed to rehabilitate their most recent release of Bomberman partly on the back of Konami crossovers, so maybe Metal Gear Survive can do the same.

Persona 5’s Morgana has a bad habit of telling people when they are and aren’t sleep, and dictating their actions based on their assumptions. It’s kind of rude, honestly, and if I want to hang out with my friends or dive into someone’s psyche through an ethereal plane, that’s my damn business. But it seems Morgana is obsessed with the idea of sleepiness, so much so that they’ve taken to reading questionable children’s bedtime stories.
Well, not really. Morgana’s voice actress, Cassandra Lee Morris, has decided to user her powers as the voice of the character to read the humorous “Bedtime story” Go the F*** to Sleep, as the character, which involves as many expletives as you might expect. So while you might have cursed under your breath as Morgana prevented you from going out at night, know this: They can curse too.

Tekken 7 has become one of the fighting game community’s biggest mainstays since its release last year, and it looks like that momentum, along with continual updates, guest characters, and a second season have translated into good sales numbers.
Series producer Katsuhiro Harada took to Twitter to announce some recent sales numbers. The highlight is that Tekken 7 has, over a year after launch, sold over three million copies, and impressive milestone for a fighting game. Harada also took the moment to mention that the series’ overall sales numbers have reached 47 million.
This bodes well for the future of Tekken 7 and continuing updates, which should make a solid fighting game even better with time. Hopefully Bandai Namco’s other recent original fighting game, Soulcalibur VI, can reach the same success.

Although the official Artifact Twitter page lists the date for the game’s beta period as “October,” that timeframe is no longer accurate.
Players who received access to the beta by going this year’s International Dota 2 tournament have had the game added to their accounts, although it’s not yet playable. The notice informing them they’ve received the game, however, indicates the beta is coming November 19 – nine days before the game is due to release, and nearly a month after the aforementioned “October” period. “We have a bit more work to do before letting everyone in,” the notice says. This likely also applies to those who received a beta access code by going to PAX West earlier this year.

Stop! Hammer time.
Dreams is really going to come to life when fans finally get their hands on it, but until then it’s hard not to be impressed with what Media Molecule’s doing with it. This new gameplay video from Game Informer showcases several creations that the Guildford-based studio’s working on in its own time, and some of them are seriously impressive.
The video begins with a traditional side-scrolling shooter, but it gets better from there. The next clip showcases a kind of space-based dogfighting sim, before we transition to an action platformer where you control a bear with a guitar. And finally there’s a multiplayer game with multiple stages where you operate a hammer, smashing stuff up for points.

Boosette as well.
Nintendo has refused to acknowledge the existence of Bowsette, leaving fans of the Bowser and Peach mashup to take matters into their own hands. Modders have already added the character to a number of Nintendo games including New Super Mario Bros. Wii and more recently The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and now it appears the appreciation for the character has moved beyond Nintendo’s games.
SoulCalibur VI has just arrived on every platform but the Nintendo Switch. Even so, that hasn’t stopped the player base from attempting to recreate her in Bandai Namco’s newest entry in the series. The game’s flexible character creator has made it relatively easy for players to fill the game with Bowsette fighters. They’ve gone as far as adding Boosette (the Boo version) of the character, as can be seen in the video below. The footage is courtesy of DualShockers and even a guide explaining how you can make both of these characters:
