  • Plenty of PS5 Assumptions Are Being Made About PlayStation DevCon 2018

But there’s virtually nothing to go on.

Sony brings together developers every year for the annual PlayStation DevCon, and 2018’s incarnation will take place in London – presumably at the platform holder’s headquarters, unless it’s booked out a swanky business room. And this is the problem: despite PlayStation 5 reports all over the web, we don’t actually know anything about the event.

A website reveals that registrations for the convention are now closed, and there’s no information on when it will take place, who will be attending, and what the sessions will involve. Some people think that the manufacturer may brief those in the audience on its next generation console, and while it’s certainly possible, we simply can’t infer anything from the information we have.

  • LittleBigPlanet Celebrates Its Tenth Birthday

    Sackboy, it’s your birthday.

Here’s one that will make you feel ancient inside: LittleBigPlanet is now ten years old. The legendary PlayStation 3 exclusive first launched on 27th October, 2008 – it was actually due out a little earlier, but Sony famously had to recall all copies of the game in order to alter the audio in one of its included licensed songs.

The release would go on to garner multiple sequels, spin-offs, and basically become a merchandising cash cow. Sackboy, despite having not starred in a game since 2014’s LittleBigPlanet 3, very much remains a household name – and is still considered to be something of a PlayStation mascot today. He’s adorable, isn’t he?

Nicolas Cage is a Truck Driver in Trailer for Thriller 'Between Worlds'

    Between Worlds Trailer

“When you go to the other side, are there other people there?” Saban Films has debuted the first trailer for an indie supernatural thriller titled Between Worlds, which premiered at Fantastic Fest to a few positive reviews. Following up Mandy also from this year with Nicolas Cage going full-on crazy, Between Worlds is another Cage Rage movie – but this time he plays a truck driver. Cage plays a down-on-his-luck truck driver haunted by the memory of his dead wife and child. He meets a woman who asks for his help, but the spirit of his dead wife takes over, possessing the young woman’s body determined to settle her unfinished business with the living. Director Maria Pulera initially wrote this as a standard thriller, but collaborating with Cage on it made it “a much more surreal drama in the vein of David Lynch.” The cast includes Franka Potente, Penelope Mitchell, Lydia Hearst, Garrett Clayton, and Hopper Penn. Official Trailer for Vibrant 'Cuba' IMAX Doc Showcasing the Country

    Cuba Documentary Trailer

“Come on a giant screen journey to the heart of the Caribbean…” Giant Screen Films has unveiled a trailer for a documentary titled simply Cuba, a film about the island country in the Caribbean. This seems to be a glorified travel documentary, with a focus on the cultural aspects and places that make it such a fascinating place. Filmed exclusively for the giant screen format, Cuba tells the story of “a land preserved in time, yet poised on the cusp of dramatic change.” Transporting audiences “across breathtaking landscapes, under the ocean surface to iridescent reefs, and into streets throbbing with music and dance in the heart of Havana.” And it’s showing in IMAX and 3D for those who really want to get fully immersed in the experience of what it’s like to be there. This a visually stunning and captivating way to get people to go visit this island nation. ›››

  • Trailer for Funky, Flying Carpet, Danish Animation Film 'Up and Away'

Trailer for Funky, Flying Carpet, Danish Animation Film 'Up and Away'

    Up and Away Trailer

“Catch those kids!” The Orchard has debuted an official US trailer for an animated film from Denmark titled Up and Away, based on the Danish novel “Hodja fra Pjort”. The film is about a boy named Hodja from the town of Pjort, who borrows a flying carpet to see the world. In return he has to find and return “diamond” to her grandfather. Of course, the “all-eating” Sultan wants to get his hands on Hodja’s flying carpet. I’m not really sure why this is a Danish movie, as it’s basically the classic Middle Eastern magic carpet story retold once again. The English language voice cast of Up and Away includes Eoin McCormick, Lucy Carolan, Marcus Lamb, Dermot Magennis, Doireann Ni Chorragain, Gary Cooke, Paul Tylak, and Susie Power. This really seems like an Aladdin ripoff, but perhaps that’s the whole point – rehash the same story. ›››

  • Gallery: Check Out These Screenshots From The Fear Effect Reinvented Demo At Paris Games Week 2018

No word on the release date.

When the action strategy title Fear Effect: Sedna was released earlier this year on the eShop, it didn’t quite hit the mark. Fortunately, not long after this, Square Enix Collective revealed the original PlayStation game that first arrived in 2000 was being remastered for multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch.

Sushee – the French studio behind Fear Effect Reinvented – said it wanted to capture the spirit and atmosphere of the classic action-adventure game, but at the same time modernise it with drastically improved high-definition visuals, controls and exciting extras. It also promised to keep the original fixed camera angles intact.
